Sailor has got their claws in me with all their dual shaders

I don't know how people do this, I have tried three different sailor manyo inks in all my different fountain pens in my hobonichi, and after the initial fill where I get that good gush, when it evens out the shading ink is just far too light to journal with long form in a fine nib. 😢 Living vicariously through this video!

Shading works better in broader, wetter nibs--fine not so much. also lots of these inks are not archival--sometimes being in a clear demonstrator can cause them to change color/lose shading properties

I twist the converter to push more ink down to the nip. I don’t know if it’s bad but that’s what I do. 🙂

I had the same feeling. This is where dip pens are not illustrative of what an ink will look like - dip pens lay down far more ink, so will produce a darker line than a fountain pen ever could.

I have four Sailor Yurameku inks. They are multishaders and all look great in my Hobonichi. I have the opposite problem, if I leave them in my fountain pen for more than a week they all start getting too dark from the evaporation. I'm stuck using Platinum Preppy because it has the best seal I've found so far.

I find this to be a problem in general with inks. I find using a finer nib tends to reduce the saturation and shading of inks. It's really a shame as I really love the dramatic shading and saturation, but I want to write with a finer nib.

I love shading inks, they looks so pretty and is fountain pen safety. While sparkling ink are okay but the glitter goes everywhere and can clough your fountain pen

It’s hard to pick a very favorite ink but Dominant Industry’s Soliel couchant á Etretat is really high up my list!! Ferris Wheel Press’s Sad Charade is actually a pretty close match I think but does not shade quite the same. No surprise that most of these are Sailor inks either! I think Wearingeul’s Robinson Crusoe and Geppetto are also two shading inks that are unique and worth a try. They halo darker and on heavy application, Crusoe becomes a brighter green/teal and Geppetto a brighter salmony/yellowy coral. It definitely appears the most in broader nibs or wetter writers.

I decided that I would embark on an adventure and get a fountain pen only because shading inks are so mesmerizing to me! If you could do a video for newbies on fountain pens it would be amazing- like the top three in different price brackets you sell ❤

what about "sheening" without shimmer
@Yoseka2 ай бұрын
Sure, there are lots of great sheening inks that don't have shimmer particles. We would love to do a future video on some :)
