Black: Tie between Aurora Black and Sailor Pigmented Black. Gray: Diamine Graphite. Brown: Sailor Texas 50 States, or (a very different one) Dominant Industry Lungo. Yellow: Noodler's Southwest Sunset (almost an orange). Orange: Pilot Iroshizuku Yu-Yake. Red: Oxblod is good, but for a more traditional bright red Diamine Dragon's Blood. Purple: Two really nice very dark purple's are Colorverse Pillars of Creation and De Atrementis Tungsten Purple . I love Pilot Iroshizuku's Yama-Budo, is that purple? Magenta? Pink? A more standard purple is the Irishizuku purple. Blue: I do like Asa-Gao, but others are wonderful such was Diamine Majestic Blue. My favorite blue many years ago was Parker Penman sapphire, no longer available, but Scribe Indigo and Price Reserve Supershow Blue are close. Green: Birmingham Pen Co herron, and for a bizarre sheener Birmingham Pen Co Emerald Fusion. A interesting ink is R&K Alt-goldgrun If we include Teal, my favorite is Ku-Jaku. Blue Black: One of several KWZ iron gall blues. Pink: Is magenta pink? Hot pink? Ambiguous: Sailor 224, all of the sailor Yurameku second series. Weird sheener's: Taccia Submidori, Vinta Sandugo. Shimmer: Diamine Rouge Hematite,Diamine Invent 2022 Solar Storm, Wearinguel Dracula. Sheeners: Organic Studios Nitrogen, OS Walden, Diamine Cult Pens Iridescink Robert. Weird Muddy Colors: A whole bunch of Birmingham Pen Co, Robert Oster Motor Oil.

Great picks! I really need to try the Dominant Inustries inks. They have some great colors, as well as Birmingham and Vinta. Those are next to try brands for me, along with Andillerium.

Great vid. I must have Fuyu syogun.. you’d like Kyo-iro soft snow of Kyoto. Gorgeous muted grey purple. Love asa gao! I own several Iroshizuku inks.. they always deliver. Prussian Blue looks amazing. I just inked a pen w Oxford Blue by Diamine, and it’s a gorgeous blue black. Thanks.

Tokiwa matsu was a pine (matsu) tree that lived in Tokiwa (area in Tokyo). It was big and had become a symbol of longevity. It doesn’t mean spinach. Thanks for sharing. Lovely color.
@thestationerydev Жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the info on Tokiwa Matsu, but the ink I have here is actually the original color from the Jentle series called Epinard, which does mean spinach. Tokiwa Matsu is the new, rebranded version of the color and, obviously, has a different name.

Loved seeing your choices. I particularly like the Sailor Epinard & Scribo Cosmico. I've literally got Diamine Prussian blue arriving tomorrow, so i'm excited for that. I never use black but Love Greys- Diamine Earl grey and Silver fox being favourites. I don't have ink from all colour families but my favourite greens are Colorverse a Psc & Rohrer & Klingner Alt Gold-grun. Blue, so far (it's leaning toward green) but Diamine Marine. Browns, most definitely Diamine Golden Brown, the shading is gorgeous- I highly recommend you try it. Purple would have to be Robert Oster Viola with Diamine amazing amethyst a close second.

for greens you can try the Rohrer und Klingner Smaragdgrün or the Pelikan Edelstein Jade, if sheening is fine then the Diamine November rain is really nice (reddish sheen but green color). If you want some monotone orange, you can get the kaweco sunset orange. Also try Diamine Frosted Orchid if you dont mind shimmer particles. thanks for your nice video though.

Thank you for sharing these lovely inks with us. Ambre de Birmanie is one of my favourites too. Now that I've seen what fugu-syogun looks like on paper, I've added it to my wishlist. My favourite blue-black is by Yard-o-led, and unfortunately they have discontinued it.

Oh come on, teal isn't ambiguous, it's teal ! Right? It's always been my favorite color, I've been using it my whole time at school ! You do need more greens I say. That pink is very good, I just picked Diamine coral and I didn't expect it to be so neon, I'm a bit disappointed. Hoping the Lullaby in the incoming Diamine inkvent will meet that need for me. This is a very beautiful palette. My favorite blue black is the Waterman blue black, I've had Herbin for years and they are very pretty. And the Waterman turquoise of course. Other than that, I'll coming back to inks after decades so I'm undecided for the rest. I must say that the dominant industry grey I got is absolutely gorgeous though.

I know, I know. A lot of people LOVE teal, but it just doesn't do it for me somehow. I don't Ming the Ku-Jaku though. Welcome back to inks and hope you find some good ones to round out your needs. Black : Montblanc Mystery Black : its a super dark grey that turns black when you overlap letters. Super unique ink... Green: Montblanc Irish Green : Getting super hard to find, but its the most versatile green you can buy. Its just dark enough to not look out of place on a business document. Blue: Robert Oster Great Southern Ocean : You have to try it to see it in person. It's a blue-grey instead of a blue-black, and it's gorgeous.

1. This is both a fun and thought-provoking exercise, thanks for sharing. I wish everyone would make a list like this. 2. As one who only draws with his pens (except red), my selections are idiosyncratic, and lean to the dark a bit: Black -Platinum Carbon Black. Nice and waterproof. Grey - Herbin Gris Nuage. Seriously pale. Unreadable, but handy when drawing. Brown - Noodler's Walnut. Medium. Boring, harmless, and useful. Yellow - Noodler's Firefly. Yes, it's a blindingly bright, intended for highlighting. Just how I like it. Year of the Golden Pig is identical. Orange - Noodler' Apache Sunset. Only orange I have, and I'm tired of it, want Habañero instead. Red - Pelikan Ruby Red. Nice and dry. I use it for annotating books with unfriendly paper. Purple - Sailor Ink Studio 453. Way dark cause that's my preference. Blue - Noodler's Baystate Blue. Duh. Green - Noodler's Zhivago. So dark. Ambiguous - Noodler's El Lawrence. Some call it motor oil spill. Honorable Mention: Sailor Manyo Nekoyanaga. Purple/blue/green. Shimmer - no shimmer for me. Sheen - Organics Studio Nitrogen Royal Blue. If your gonna sheen, then SHEEN. Dazzlingly bright.

I love every ink you have as your favorite, but they aren't quite mine. I've tried and tried to narrow inks down to my favorite in each color, but I can't do it. I have too many inks, three hundred and sixty-eight bottles now, and I'm just too indecisive. I can come close with some colors, such as red. I do love Oxblood, and I've been using it since it first came out, but my favorite darker red is Diamine Red Dragon, I allways have Red Dragon in a pen, and favorite brighter red is Diamine Poppy Red. Brown is impossible. If I had to pick just three they would be Waterman Absolute Brown, Sailor Fifty States Texas, and Monteverde Canyon Rust. Maybe. Purple and green really are impossible. I absolutely love a dozen or more in each color. I just can't narrow them down. Orange also comes down to two inks, Private Reserve Orange Crush for a darker orange, and Diamine Pumkin for a brighter, Halloween orange. I love your choice for pink, but my absolute favorite pink ink is one that can burn out your eyes. It's Iroshizuku Tsutsuji. I'm not a fan of black or blue ink. I had to use black every day for about twenty years, and had to use blue in school, and burnt out on both. I do need they occasionally, so I have a huge bottle of Noodler's Heart of Darkness, 4.5 ounces, plus a standard size bottle of Pilot. I have four or five blue inks that people have given me, but the only one I like at all is Diamine Saphire. I will say the only blue ink I've intentionally bought for myself is Iroshizuku Asa-Gao, so we may have a common favorite here, though I really bought it mostly because I love Iroshizuku inks. There is one ink, Monteverde Amethyst, that I like, even though it looks blue to me. Some see it as blue, some as an obvious purple, and it plays with my sense of color just enough to make me like it. I do have a favorite Gray ink, which is Montblanc Wood & Tobacco Scent. But it cost ninety dollars for a fifty ml bottle, and I think it has been discontinued, so I need a new gray ink. The is an ink that I classify as ambiguous that is one of my all-time favorites, and that is Montblanc James Purdey and Sons Single Malt. This, too, is a scented ink, and the color is supposed to match the color of single malt whiskey. It, too, cost ninety dollars, and it, too, has been discontinued. I still have two unopened bottles that I wouldn't sell for five hundred dollars each, but when it's gone, I have no idea what to replace it with. I'm not a fan of shimmer inks. I have only one, which without digging it out and checking, I think is Diamine Green Ivy. I don't use it. My wife has craft pens that make fountain pen shimmer look like nothing, so at Christmas we both use those. Sheening inks make for a tough choice. I don't even try. Though not my favorite sheening ink, Tsutsuji has a nice, even, bright silver sheen that I like in letters and journal entries, but there are so many wonderful sheening inks that I don't even consider a favorite.
@thestationerydev Жыл бұрын
Great picks! I've heard good things about Red Dragon and Poppy Red, and I really need to get a bottle of the Sailor Texas. Tsutsuji is probably my second place pick for pink, I really like that one as well. And I was really tempted with the Single Malt, but could never pull the trigger due to the price point sadly.

Hello. It is very informative for me. I really love good flow inks so I mostly use blue inks. Can you suggest me some inks with nice flow in different colors?
@thestationerydev Жыл бұрын
Oh, good question! As a general rule of thumb, Japanese inks are generally more lubricated/wet, so anything from Sailor or Pikot Iroshizuku is a safe play. As far as colors beside blue that I've used and can think of with really good flow: Diamine Oxblood (also heard that Writer's Blood has insane flow), Diamine Pansy, Iroshizuku Fuyu-Syogun, Iroshizuku Tsustuji, KWZ Grapefruit, Monteverde Calofornia Teal, Robert Oster Charred Hickory, Sailor Manyo Shirakashi. Of course there are more, but these are the ones I've personally experienced.
