Door lock wouldn’t recommend to enable to open it via Alexia, just means anyone can open the letterbox and shout ‘Alexia open door’

nope..the devices aren't made to open the doors for security purpose. You can only lock the doors.

Hey Matt, to answer your question I’m in the process of making my apartment “smart” at the moment and my hub of choice is the Google Home, it’s assistant is already the default on my phone and I have a chrome cast and cast enabled TV to help push me towards the Google Home ecosystem

Awesome fun things that are being made.. but sometimes I think it's going to make us weak and lazy and insignificant... To all this when you can't manual... Do stuff... Try to find a balance from using technology to using g my own brain.. I'm not able to learn to make these things.. But what if you can't ever understand how to make them...like I would not even began to Understand how to put together these devices...Wow at times.. I do feel,lost+ stupid.. don't want to sell myself short.... But anyone else feel like....atad Dumb!? When it comes to learning this stuff... Another great video Matt. Currently we only control various lights in and outside of our home with WeMo switch and plug . We have two more smart plugs, another brand, being delivered today. We also have one C by GE bulb but that is not controlled by either the Echo or Dot.

Great Videos! I have two Q. 1- Where is the best place or places to put your echo dot? 2- I'm guessing you have to speak with a normal tone for alexa to hear you, but it is normal to speak louder almost like screaming when music is playing??

I have 3 echo's, smart switches, plugs, thermostat and others. The 2 devices never mentioned are MyQ garage door manager and most important a Rachio sprinkler controller. The Rachio saves real money and conserves water by managing when to water and for how long. It monitors local weather reports for realtime updates. Keep up the great savings...

I didn't know they made smart outlets! I always wanted to voice control my lights but didn't feel like paying over $100 for one smart lightbulb. So this is a perfect and far cheaper alternative.

The over the air HD signals are usually better than cable. The resolution difference is like comparing regular and HD. Way clearer. Depending upon where you live, you'd be surprised how many channels are available. Also the distance.

The Alexa Fire TV stick can also change HDMI ports. It also can control any of your smart home devices, turn the back light on into the remote will turn my backyard light on. The remote can also bring up your outside security cameras on your TV, that is very cool.

Matt, I am trying to "teach my old home some new tricks", so to say. I really appreciate the help with this, and the ideas of some specific uses for each product. Having MS, this will definitely give me more peace of mind with less things to worry about. If you had to start with one item, what would you start with? Also, fun fact. My echo is across the living room from me. I had the volume down low on my phone and was holding my thumb over the speaker, but Alexa still heard and set my alarm for 4am. 😱 (It's just after midnight now, so not happening!!! The Logitech Harmony hub is cool. It allows you to use voice commands to control almost any electronic. TV's, DVD, stereo receiver etc.
