I'm still rolling with the iPhone 5. Even if it's 2 years old it still runs everything without lag. It is still lightning fast for every application I run. I'm waiting for the iPhone 6 to decide if I want android or apple for my next phone.

Believe me go with IOS. It's better for different things. Androids are great for hacking while ios(Apple) has a great app store, and a very nice camera nothing special but it will do. It's of nice size not too huge. Take this from someone with an Android even though I'm happy with me HTC 1 but the 5s is much better....

Guys, calm down! Apple blew a lot of people's minds with the A7 chip, as it was a dual core that beat the quad core CPU in the GS4 and several other phones. I was just stating that the iPhone 5s had a lot of features important to 2013 smartphones. Besides, if the iPhone sucks so much, explain why Google, LG, Samsung, Nokia, HTC, Huawei, Pantech, and many, many more companies copied the iPhone. Look at EVERY "smartphone" before the iPhone. Then after the iPhone came out with a Multi-Touch display, notice how every smartphone now has a touchscreen display and the same basic, overall design as the iPhone. What everyone else did was copy Apple's iPhone and now they profit more because there are so many of them running Android, a blatantly obvious copy iOS, with a few features added, mostly useless ones, and a VERY slightly different user interface.

My personal 5's of the year: .Moto X .Iphone 5s .Nexus 5 .Lumia 1520 .LG G2 Interesting year with dominace from Android, amazing phones from Nokia. Fingerprint scanner and 120fps video capture in 5s. Motorola is back in business! And so small bezels on the G2 (why plastic, makes it feel so cheap..) Looking forward to next year, especially for Nokia and Motorola. They will probarbly produce my next device :)

I love my S4! It may have some gimmicky software, and be made of plastic, but no amount of build quality can make up for the ability to be able to replace my battery on the go! I use 2 batteries and can effectively run my phone constantly, and just charge the batteries on their own as needed.

I'm still in love with my Nexus 4 so didn't bother upgrading this year! I think it says a lot when after 12 months of owning a phone you look at all the new models but can't see a reason to upgrade. Sure the camera is average; speakers not great and battery life could be slightly better but its the overall experience for me that makes the phone. This is the beauty of the Nexus program I guess; if the software keeps up to date they have at least a 2 year + shelf life. Thanks to ***** for all the great; honest and balanced reviews this year.

Look at the specs for the samsung galaxy s4 and for the samsung galaxy note 3. The note 3 has what the s4 has and more, nothing less. and it was made in 2013. So if anything the note 3 shold be there and not the s4.

Jure Bohinc iPhone benchmarks better than any other phone in 2013. The ecosystem still top notch too. There's no better nothing at $300 at all actually. Note 3 regular price is $700 and S4 is $650. There's nothing better at "average" $300 full retail price. If you want to talk about contract price you can get the iPhone for $149.

I do like that , not sure how accurate it works , but the problem most ppl have including me is that the phone lost the same as it did when it first came out , no widgets , no live animations , u can't customize anything , no Swype texting , took them 5 yrs to get a bigger screen , took them 2 yrs to get 4 G speeds , the UI looks the same , No app drawer everything is just thrown at ur screen , looks ugly ..

*Ahem*, Motorola did fingerprint scanning on smart phones before it was cool. Plus, for best smartphones, price has to be taken into consideration. The iPhone itself is awfully overpriced for what it is, and such should not even be considered for a top smartphone list. As for iOS v Android, that's a personal preference. After having an iPhone for 2 years, and changed to the Moto X, and have only had it for 5 days, I love Android leagues more than iOS. I have so much more freedom over my phone that iOS ever allows, and that to me is the selling point for OS on a phone. For others though, it may be different. Which that is why I said before; it's a personal preference.

All of you iPhone lovers are just naive I was an iPhone user until about 4 months ago when I picked up a Samsung galaxy s4. And having never owned an android phone at all I was very skeptical but this phone beats the iPhone 5 and 5 by FAR. I can not stress enough. I was an iPhone user but I will never buy another one again. So please....step out of your comfort zone for once and try out a different phone. It doesn't have to be an s4 but just give another phone a shot. You will not be disappointed. I have an HTC one and a Samsung galaxy note 3 and a Samsung galaxy s4 and an LG g2 and a nexus 5. (I started buying androids like crazy after my s4 experience) and every one of them is better than every iPhone ever made. (I had all of them) so reply to this if you agree or take my advice and stray from an iPhone.

Watching these videos really reinforces why I prefer Android to iOs so much. iOs and iPhones are so boring, conservative, and 'bland'. With Android you get technology that is constantly moving forward--from Android itself, to all the different hardware, to the overlays like HTC Sense. Android is just far more exciting.

Lol to everyone that is butt hurt the iPhone didn't make the list. And why the hell would it?! It hasn't changed one bit! O wow they changed the color again! At least with Android phones you have a Vast array of phones in all shapes, sizes, and specs to choose from. Even the specs on some of the more basic Android phones far surpass the new iPhone lol. People that buy iPhone are boring people that like to play it safe and don't like change, so they have to stick to what they are use to. The s4 alone made up for almost 84% of all cell phone sales this past year, as did the s3 before it. Android phones as a whole have taken over completely cause people like how different and futuristic they've become. Not to mention Google maps is the best nav system out there and that shitty apple maps doesn't even come close to even a basic Tom Tom lol. It's already been proven that Apple fans will buy anything as long as it says apple. Remember that John Stewart episode where they went around to people standing in line for days like dumbass sheep waiting for the new iPhone 5 to come out. And they let them hold a fucken iPhone 4 and told them it was the new iPhone 5 and asked what they thought about it, and each dumbass raved and raved about how amazing it was and how much of an upgrade it was over the "old" model iPhone in their pocket. I mean how fucken dumb do you have to be to not know the difference between the phone your waiting in line for days to get, and the phone that you've had for months and use every day?! The fact is they know each iPhone is exactly the same as the last, with a slight change here and there, but they act like it's the next best invention of its decade when a "new" model comes out. LMFAO!!! Pathetic apple sheeple.

Yeah,totally agreed. But Since you tried to compare the 5s to the nexus 5,let me tell you this. A smartphone shows it's real power in the gaming experience. The Snapdragon 800 of the nexus 5 is a damn MONSTER! Yeah,the nexus 5 doesn't benchmark as well as the 5s,but that is just due to optimization,which is unbelievably good on the iphone,as always. And after all,benchmarks don't mean anything. What I'm trying to tell you is that even though the iPhone has a 64bit CPU,a 1.3 dual-core CPU can't beat a quad-core 2.3 ghz CPU no matter what. Now,as far as build quality goes,the iphone 5s is far superior,but...that doesn't mean that the nexus 5 has a bad build quality.

1 - galaxy note 3 excellent in all segment like camera 4k resolution , super amoled display , battery life and processor. 2 - nexus 5 price tag , camera , 445ppi display , processor but lack in front camera . 3 - moto x consumer oriented phone , price , quick updates but lack in camera. 4 iphone 5s superfast A7 64bit processor , slo mo camera , good camera , touch id but lack in same design , small screen size and not even 720p display . 5 htc one best built quality phone of 2013 , front dual stereo type speaker , 441ppi display but lack in terms of camera .
