Fromsoft really created the most ridiculously strong weapon arts and thought that they don't need some kind of cooldown between consecutive uses or at least a reasonable FP cost. Impaling Thrust is one of the most OP ashes and you can get it literally within 5 minutes after starting a game, and then just spam it at bosses to get easy stance breaks. It's disgusting

It is one of my favorite playstyles, and best of all, you can get it started super early as well with its slightly weaker cousin Lance pretty much right from the start, along with the brass shield until you get the sword lance.

The last patch made dual colossal crouch attack builds op. I think currently dual Giant Crusher with Cragblade Leda Armor, crouch attack talisman, and Rotten Winged Insignia is the strongest.

My favorite strength builds: Ruins Greatsword (minimum Int) swapped to Carian Thrusting Shield for DLC, easy mode Rusted Anchor + Pickaxe - Amazing counter damage, Spear talisman works great, melts bosses Crucible Knight cosplay Ordovis GS + Siluria's Tree (level up Fai in DLC), Putrid Knight didn't know what hit him I've never done a full run with Lion's Claw, might have to try it

rusted anchor with wild strike heavy affinity for larger bosses u do some heavy attacks when u get stance break don't go for crit do wild strike it will melt big bosses like dragons

I've been playing magic build during arround +200 hours. In the middle of the DLC I tryed again bleed build, but now, I'm really enjoying the role of pure tank with Sword lance + heavy shield or two handed giant weapons.

it's possible to get 2 rusted anchors on 1 playthrough! do the offline invasion connected to varre's quest at writheblood ruins, then take the road east towards the windmills and you'll find a giant's caravan, both guarantee a rusted anchor reward!!

honorable mention : giant crusher spiked cracked tear opaline hardtear axe talisman twohanded sword talisman dragoncrest greatshield talisman kindred of rot exultation (if you dupe raw meat dumplings and neutralizing boluses u can heal with them while boosting your damage %20 for 20 sec) charge ur r2 and see that bar vanishing (as well as u can use fire giant crusher + fire scorpion charm + flame shrouding cracked tear for fire weak bosses like romina)

While powerstanced Giant Crushers is popular, I do think pairing Pickaxe/Rusted Anchor or two Rusted Anchors is better, you get piercing damage and faster recovery.

I used to be Lions Claw all day everyday. I don't like the Greatsword moveset so I used it with the Zweihander or the Fire Knights greatsword. Nowadays, I greatly prefer Giants Hunt. I find it easier to hit with and actually more spammable than LC against many enemies. At least in NG. Once your start to get up there in NG+ levels, I like Savage Lion's Claw.

I know this isn't particularly applicable to most people, but some of these options fall off kind of hard in NG+. Even bleed and rot feel kind of underwhelming. Colossal options start to feel really good for chunking health bars and their ability to interupt basic enemies with a two handed R1.

wth are you talking about? Bleed & Frostbite are the meta in late NG+ cycles. Blackflame and Destined death are in there as well. Sorry, just not an accurate assertion.

That might be true if you keep your Rune Level low. Status effects just don't feel impactful in NG+6 when I can just chunk a boss down in less than a minute. Frost is alright due to defense down, but it isn't great as a weapon infusion because of the enemy resistances increasing. Bleed procs aren't as good as just keeping momentum going with a weapon that has above 1,200 AR. The Bloodfiend's Arm feels especially bad thanks to its low AR. The Nagakiba especially falls off a cliff. Falx feels like the only kind of acceptible Bleed Weapon, but it still feels kind of bad against bleed immune bosses.

Wild Strikes Bleed Anchor is just... built differend, It's just not the same level with other heavy builds except GUGS sword. Just imagine Carian Slicer but more versatile, good for vanilla and DLC (pierce damage is great in DLC and magic is heavily resisted) +you have hyperarmor. Anchor can be buffed by so many things, it's just absurd: play it with multi-hit wild strikes build, Cold build, jump build, heavy build, R1 spam, guard counter, BLEED build is just insta-kill, every build is bonkers
