I have two HDMI port in my TV, so I plugged in my computer and my TV modem in the other. if there is something good on TV I can switch, but I mainly watch shows through my computer. win everywhere. got a wireless keyboard and mouse, all working fine even in gaming. if I want to play with a controller I plug in a Xbox 360 USB controller and done. plus I can play all the older console games and most titles come on PC too.

+ybnrmalatall A satellite TV box would work on the xbone as well, along with anything else that relays info though HDMI. Including a PS4 and PC (Don't try it though, input lag is horrendous as it just wasn't designed for that use) Really I don't see the point in insulting one another. the Xbox one is cheaper and barely weaker, PS3 is a little better but pricier. all it comes down to is what gimicks you want to fall for (be is Playstation or xbox gimicks) I play PC. I don't really care what people buy.

Well, here's my problems with it: 1. They may have said it didn't have to be always online anymore, but they lied. You need to be online for several things, including for DLC to work. 2. Updates automatically make you offline, which disables a lot of stuff. Then, when you do have the time to update, it uses the network again, which destroys the point of turning it off in the first place. 3. You need to purchase games off the store if you want to have them permanently. You can scratch your game disc, and it won't do shit for you. It doesn't for a product code or anything. 4. A lot of exclusives that I want are on PS4. (Yet my little brothers wanted to get an Xbox because they wanted roblox on there, which they don't even play anymore. I want to play the Last of Us!)

As far as I can tell, the closest thing mentioned to a faliure is a Mac. The hand-held iThings have been quite successful. Having said that, I should probably mention that I'm not that I'm a fan of any of these products.

IRQ1Conflict Yea man, I my old computer which I got in 2008 had Vista, but with "massive" 2GB:s of RAM it never crashed. My only ever problems were that somehow when I let my sister clean the computer from dust (back then I was still kinda intimidated by computers), she had unscrewed the power supply main power cable insert, and eventually when I one day happened to move my computer a bit, both poles of the plug connected the case. That caused a short-circuit and it made a loud bang and bright light. Nothing to do with Vista nor this video tho, although I guess it counts as a tech failure?

Bradley Palmer maybe because what happened in the 70s is pretty irrelevant and we kinda wanna know about modern fails. Plus no one really knew what they were doing with technology in the 70s they were kinda just experimenting with stuff. So its much more interesting to see modern fails because technology has progressed to such an extent that it makes these inventions even more ridiculous.

It deserves #1 not just because of the tech... its more because of all the hype that it has. Coming from Microsoft as being one of the largest and most wealthy tech business, and they decide to completely fail on making a console. That's why its #1, due to the hype/overrated.

cbnunya Sorry for your confusion, I am not comparing consoles, this was strictly geared towards Microsoft. I do not own either of them nor am I a PlayStation fan boy. I also do not plan on buy either of them, my PC out performs both of them so you can re-think about your wrong assumption. Its the fact that the Xbox had more publicity, and for your sake, was projected to have higher sales..... that's where it failed. The hype... Microsoft's competitor crushed them in that aspect. I am not saying that the console has failed, bottom line.

I don't much like the Xbox One but I think this video was far too early to call it the biggest tech failure before it was released. It's probably going to bring in higher profits than the 360 so I doubt Microsoft will call it a failure.

Windows 8 is amazing, it was designed to run on ARM so everything was cut down to be lean and mean and have the smallest footprint possible on both memory and CPU. This translates to huge benefits on desktop computers getting this same cut down lean and mean subsystem.

Plain , outright lie. Microsoft was never good on memory management and Windows 8 isn't any better. I only installed it to learn my way around it for any problems my customers (or i) might face. Create a dynamic ram drive , crank it with some videos and shit , poof , BSOD , because instead of throttling the application , it systematically kills system processes and it doesn't seem to get enough of it. Low memory algorithm knows no bounds. Linux solved this shit years ago , you'd think they would take some clues. Plus if you optimize it for a smaller memory footprint , it's gonna be way slower than it would have been in terms of performance. ARM architecture doesn't have a problem with memory , it's cheap. They should have written an adaptive algorithm to determine the amount of memory footprint built-in apps and system processes leave on the Ram. oh wait , Linux community have already done that too. Such a shame.

Really the Xbox one is here? I don't care who beats who, xbox or ps4, it's not a "failure" when the console has made millions upon millions of dollars. It did what it was supposed to do, which was to have people who had the 360 upgrade. Maybe didn't beat ps4, but does that really make the console a failure? We went from things that were scrapped, to things that just didn't work, to the xbox one. I don't think I could see bias any more clear in this video. Also, biggest failure on my book would be those google glasses things

This was before the Xbox One came out. This was before they fixed a whole bunch of issues, i'm pretty sure his, along with everyone else's opinions have changed upon the actual release of the Xbox One. This was Published July 10, 2013 and the Xbox One came out on November 22, 2013. So yeah. That's what i think is going on, hope i made sense :D

My biggest tech failure in MY opinion? Google+ It WAS the least popular and least downloaded social network. Roughly around 2012. That was until KZbin and some other websites started to grasp it around the near fall in 2013. Now its the new facebook? What? Blah...I had a LOT typed out, but after re-thinking it, I realized it's really as simple as this. The Xbox One didn't belong in this list because it hadn't even been released when you posted this video of Tech Failures. It was a huge announcement failure, for sure, but it hadn't even been released yet. I don't like Microsoft, and I don't pretend to, nor do I support all the Natzi crap that they tried to get away with. But I just don't think a tech announcement failure belongs in a list of tech failures. I, at least, see them as two different things. And, in fact, you even mentioned that it will probably be a solid release after they decided against the Natzi Box One.

Hey Austin, Not sure how a tech can be a failure if it wasn't released yet. I think that was a little premature. Was their press conference a failure? Yes. However, their console is not. It sold 3 million + units so far. You should be calling the Nintendo Wii U a failure before you call the Xbox One a failure only because it took the Wii U a full year to hit those numbers. Even if Microsoft didn't change their DRM model. It still has to be released to the public first and face its fate. If it doesn't sell, then, and only then, can you call it a failure. That way you can analyze the loss of profits for Microsoft and judge which spot on a top 5 list it falls under. Just a tip.

It's pretty unfair to call something bloated just because it has higher system requirements. It's like calling a desktop environment bad just because you can run a window manager with much lower specs. All of that eye candy and extra 'user friendly' navigation features require better hardware to run.

from personal experience, I had a windows ME computer from 6th grade (when it was brand new) to the end of high school. I pretty much only used it for word processor and a few PC games I'd installed as I didn't have internet access at my house until college, but it always ran perfectly fine. Now, later in 2007 I upgraded to a Vista laptop and it was super buggy. A lot of programs would regularly crash. Granted, it could have been partly my fault as I did not regularly run driver cleaners or defrag, but based on that, I have to say that I think, overall, ME was probably better than Vista as a core operating system when compared based on the tech that was available at the times of their launches

The title of the countdown does not really match the content. This countdown says the Xbox One is basically the worst tech product ever made... Maybe they announced and introduced it lame, but I can think of products worse than the Xbox One. I mean, you gotta say... I think things tablets they needed to discontinue after 6 months because they have the worst specs and could barely compete with the iPad, are worse gadgets than the Xbox One. NO I'm not an Xbox fanboy: I like the PlayStation 4 better than the Xbox One, but in my opinion, this doesn't make good sense. Hell 99% of the hardware and infrastructure was designed to support specific features that aren't going to be implemented it's a monstrosity of patches and unused features. How can one of the biggest products ever sold on any market be considered a failure? Apple devices have flaws, with updates breaking apps, cables having on-board computers dedicated to coding and decoding thunderbolt-to-HDMI things because thunderbolt is too weak to handle HD resolutions uncompressed (it compresses/uncompresses into H.246 codec or something causing a loss of quality and compression artifacts) and also all their cables are extremely short and they tend to fray and break apart after extended use. Bending phones. Still, they are definitely successful products.

what did xbox one fail at exactly? launching in an attractive way? it plays games that look great. i wouldn't say it fails at any of its intended purposes. microsoft is even changing what it does and how based on our complaints i think they're changing allot more than other company's would for their fans. and even if it did suck for all the things i don;t need a game console to do its still plays better games than the Wii U as a console in general. people seem to care a whole lot about more about how xbox is marketed more than if it actually properly does what it was built for, which is obviously not definitive with the changes. I own playstation 4 and I can't wait until Halo 5 comes out for the best reason to get an xbox one. If you're not complaining about xbox's exclusive games you have little right to be unsatisfied with it. and its price dropped.

Serjoot Schnubly it does actually look great on my $600 dollar 42 inch 720p tv. good games don;t have to be running at theh ighest possible current spec on tv's that would at least have to be 1080 to make a difference. I don;t blame microsoft for building their hardware as good as it reasonably needs to be. allot of people don't care or don't have tv's that good anyway so they make the sonsole do other things to compete with PVR's and other Tv related products. it already plays games great it might as well do other things a computer can do for a TV display. consoles have never been as good as current PC tech. thats not what consoles are about. they're about interested enough gamers that aren't willing to constantly upgrade hardware (that is hardly ever universalize all that well anyway) consoles are about getting to play games on the same medium that can make gaming possible on a less intensive fashion on a much larger scale that is accessible to more people and far more user friendly than knowing how to maintain a gaming PC. I don't know how anyone can rip on Microsoft who have delivered on one of the top if not the best consoles since they started wile the whole time Nintendo has been making much more ridiculous moves or lack there of in terms of hardware and gameplay gimmicks. and nintendo has never really created a fluid online multiplayer for anything other than mario kart and pokemon and their games are still never get much bigger or different. leave microsoft alone they earned they're chance to try new things. go make a stink about the real gaming fools.

Dan McBride have you ever built a PC bro? the only time you need to replace something cause of compatibility issues now is if you go to a completely different CPU socket or brand. or if you are upgrading from a computer made in the early 2000's. as long as you have a mobo that supports SATA (1 2 or 3), DDR3, and have a PCI-E slot (which 99.9% do) you will be fine not to mention that even some older PC's still do just fine with games at decent settings.

Devan Henchel I have a radeon HD 7800. argueably better than xbox one. I see way more game specific issues on PC than consoles. consoles might have issues but have far more specific and definitive fixes. sometimes with PC's you spend all day fixing some problem. consoles either work or they don't and you can demand correction for you're synonymous product if need be. Pc issues are likely entirely up to you or the PC version of that game. consoles issues with games or hardware are usually handled much better IMO I also think its a bit more fun to learn skill in games in the exact same medium as the rest of the community. less hackers, no bots, no solicitation by players or people that take advantage of outsides means of advancement, less people with better hardware having an easier time playing, less/more managable no lifers, more gameplay driven community IMO end of the day, usually far easier to log hours with more balanced experience on the Halo machine and Grand theft auto box.

The agreement between apple and Google for use of the dataset did not include turn by turn so in order to include turn by turn mapping apple had to do one of two things 1) change their agreement with Google (which involved including a Google login into their apple maps app a condition which Google knew apple would not agree too) 2) Get a different dataset (which we all know is what they did) And Google were not prevented from writing a maps app, they didn't need one as apple did it for them in the first place and they were too complacent and didn't expect apple to end their old deal early (12 months early in fact)

They wanted a maps app made by them, then they got it when they changed their TOS and apple could no longer have apps that interfaced with there data, case in point: KZbin. its actually a really good OS . i mean they have tried to do something that now one has tried to do yet!. make a computer OS that will work well on touchscreen and non touch screen computers... I know several people that prefer it to Mac's admittedly they all use touchscreen laptops. some even prefer some of the "metrosexulized" apps as you put it. for so many reasons it's one of the better OSs they have released. the footprint is small. It's simpler to use. it way more intuitive. That is if you're willing to let go of the old and embrace the future.

No one I know or talk too... appreciates the "metro" apps they provided/forced upon us. They like what they had before. Yes the performance is MUCH better I do agree with that 100%. I run it on ALL the computers in my home *5* and I'm very happy. The only device it's not on is my Son's iPhone. I own the Windows Phones also. Nokia Lumia 1020 for home, and 925 for work phone... Seriously, I just don't appreciate the new interface. And that's preference, and my right to disable/change it. I don't have to live with though. ;) My opinion and preference are mine. ;)

+connor milner yeah thats true. But what would the build quality be like? The screen? It probably would get hot and loud by just opening a browser. The touchpad is probably small, made of plastic and overall crappy. The display probably low res and bad colors, bad black values. Overall it probably is made of plastic and if I lift it on one corner the other one hangs down like a pizza, that hasn't been in the oven long enough. And the battery life? 2 hours? Don't get me wrong. Nothing wrong with preferring normal laptops over MacBooks. It is just that especially when it comes to laptops, that specs is not everything (in my case actually, it comes almost last, cause any specs I get nowadays will run my OS smoothly). When people are dissing Apple Laptops it's always the same "I can get better specs for half the price". Yeah but can you get the same build quality?

The point is that when they announced the first prototype it was a disaster, to fix most of the things that were wrong they practically had to remake it. Which they did making it into a solid competitor. Many companies make mistakes, Microsoft were quick to realize they have made one and fixed it before launch.

I have an Xbox one, it's alright, I've never really like Playstation, I played the PS2 when I was like 5 but then we got an Xbox, love the 360, the one was okay, then I got into PC gaming like a few years ago. PC wins. all the time. Console sucks. PC is 500% better.

There's nearly no point in one of each, I wouldn't say there's any exclusives worth buying a console. Go with a PC and you get nearly every game plus you can use emulators to play the exclusives.

Do you know how ignorant that made you sound? I'm sorry, but if you download an emulator, that's mostly human error. Now, I will admit there may not be an emulator for Xbox 360 or PS3, but it probably wont be a very long time before one is made. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there's some form patent or licensing these companies have and they have to wait a certain amount of time before the public can legally emulate their products. Once again, I could be wrong and misread this somewhere.

Better/more titles, better/more control options, better game prices, better graphics and performance (assuming you have a capable computer), it can be used as a pc (obviously), the list just goes on and on. I guess I can understand some games feel better on the couch and with a controller but you can always hook up your pc to your TV and use a controller to your liking. It's okay to not like pc gaming but you can't really deny that it outclasses consoles in pretty much every way other than price (although you can argue about price since it's an actual computer too, not just a gaming platform)
