Hi ! Saw your video the day before we travelled to Ghent and we decided to make a reservation for the Publiek restaurant based on your video. It was such an enjoyable experience, thank you !

When visiting Ghent, you should definately try the local candy known as cuberdons or 'neuzekes'.

Kudos, great video! My wife has been recommending your series for a bit. Funny aside: your name "Traveling Mangoes" 25 yers ago my daughter and I were hosteling around the west of Ireland (she had just completed her course at UC Galway) with a mango that we portioned out for 4 days desert. Funny that traveling mangoes reappear, Cheers!

Hi there -- thanks for the video! We are doing a Belgium trip, and we actually are thinking of staying in Ghent for 3 nights, instead of Bruges, since Ghent is more central and easier to travel to the other cities from there. Additionally, we understand things closer early in places like Bruges, or Belgium in general, so it seemed more sensible to stay in Ghent as it's a University town and more restaurants and bars are open later. This would be the last week of November/first week of December, so I also understand it gets dark at 4:30, so that was out other reason of wanting to stay at a place that has more things to do at night, in the form of eating and drinking. Thoughts?

Ghent is a great place to base yourself, as you said it is very central. It is easy to do a day trip from Ghent to Bruges however we recommend staying at least one night. That way you can spent a full day exploring and can get up early and explore the beautiful city before the day trippers and tour buses get there. Maybe 2 nights in Ghent and 1 in Bruges....

Not sure we are the best people to ask on how to move to Belgium. What we can say though is that we found it to be a great country with multiple cool and fun cities.

I prefer Antwerp (where I live), Brussels, Malines, Dinant, Huy and Namur. Ghent is a disaster by car or train.

We visited Dinant and Brussels as well if you want to check out those videos! We will need to out Antwerp and the other cities on the list ☺️
