Usually in accounting we just work on computer all day. I’m blind in one eye and I couldn’t see very well on my right eye. Do you think if I pursue on becoming a massage therapist. Would my blindness affect my ability to get a job or be successful in the massage therapy field?
@its.misshannah3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you! That’s a great question! According to AMTA - “Visually impaired people who want to pursue a career in massage therapy should know that their lack of sight may actually be a competitive advantage when it comes to skill. ... In the absence of visual cues, blind massage therapists are more in tune with the client's bodily responses to the massage.” You can find more here, www.aiam.edu/massage-therapy/massage-therapy-career-path-blind/ I hope this helps x Hannah

@@danieljimenez5931 No problem, that’s why I am here! Of course, each school will have mixed reviews, go with your gut & what school will work best for you. I personally chose my school based on the fact it did not come with an associates degree in business. I will be taking a business class, but I’m paying to school to pursue massage, not business & marketing. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt, but overall was a decision based on my personal wants. My school does include a certification in NMT (Trigger Point Certification) which is considered continuing education in my state, & I have found to be extremely beneficial!! People also have to consider weather this is a right career for them! I think some people want to do this thinking that it is easy, and that they will make easy money, nothing can be further from the truth! I think people should have the right mindset before going to school for this! You need a strong body and good hand pressure! I've had a massage, a deep tissue massage, but it wasn't that good because the person wasn't strong enough and i left somewhat disappointed , because i payed a lot. To get good Deep tissue massage. If you are good at what you do the money will come in, because you have built costumer satisfaction and trust. They will come to you because they know you will take care of them. They will spread the good word about you! I didn't repeat the same mistake and took my business elswhere.
