Tip # 6 - Calling I hunt flooded timber in West TN and we have to hammer on them with calls. Some days are different though and we soft call but we are always on the birds. Finesse calling and hard calling are two techniques we use here in the south on public. If you are hunting against someone in the flooded timber, you better be ready to blow the crap out of your calls. It is a fine line between aggressive calling and finishing the birds when hunting against other people in the timber. In the marsh, y’all can shoot each other’s swing birds. Different terrain, different tactics. I would love to hunt in the marsh. I also hunt on private property and private lakes. Calling is usually petty aggressive on private land in my area as well. Keep the videos coming! #mallardsbro

What a nice list of Top 5 Tips for Public Land Duck Hunting, sadly there is not a lot of that here in northern WV where I live nor a proper DU Chapter with like minded friends, but I am hopeful to get out next month since I didn't go yet being that it has been 90 degrees and the water has been fast, plus I don't have a truck to get back into places I have faith that they would be. Definitely have to order that kayak rack for my car, it is the only way for me to get back to where they are if they are in early season. Winter season is a different story. Thanks again for this quick tip video.

what do you think about the decoy back packs for solo public hunts? It seems like the public marsh provides good opportunity of you can pack your way to the spot? Appreciate any help. I’m really green when it comes to duck hunting.

Tip # 6 Dont put your hunts up on KZbin, unless you want 100 new friends. Tip #7 don't take any of the 100 new buddies, because they'll be posting up on social media where you hunt and then their 100 new buddies will be on your marsh. By the end of the season there will be 1000 buddies in your marsh, all of them filming their hunt, just for YOUR ENJOYMENT.

Have to hunt big water here in S.C. unless you own an impoundment. Boat is the only way to go to hunt salt marsh bays kayak is doable but a lot of paddling. Or you can be a douche bag and pass shoot birds near impoundments

Opening day we had 5 dozen goose full bodies and some dude hiked 200 yards to yell at us for being in his area and saying we got there too late(3:30) am and said he didn’t want to be competing for the same birds at 200-250 yards away😂🤦🏻♂️

I only hunt public land so I know what the struggles are, Personally I will be at my spot no later than 4 hours before shooting light. This past opener we slept in my boat to secure our spot and it paid off, around 2am boats started to show up to the spot. Definitely agree scouting is the most important thing for hunting! Another thing is to look different! Personally I take down my mojos after about a half hour of shooting if its a popular spot, everybody else is using mojos, so youre spread without one will look different and will possibly entice some birds too! If you hear some group throwing out hail calls, try not calling as much or possibly just throw a feeding chuckle out there!

Also, don't start calling at ducks you don't see just because you hear other people calling.
