You are absolutely right, I don't take spare clothes with me, I can buy it anywhere. I don't take a electric pump, only a small Handpump. Also no tubes, just a repair kit. One also can save weight with lightweight tools by example tyre levers of Alu, motion pro bead breakers by example, combi Tool instead of a toolset Good luck in South America!

You are right with the tent. Dec/Jan this year I travelled solo the south of South America and had the tent mainly as emergency shelter for Patagonia and/or the more remote crossings of the Andes. Looking back to my 21.500 km in these 7 weeks it was effectively dead weight. I also carried an extensive set of tools and spares to be able to fix broken stuff. Guess what, only needed the tyre repair kit, a few cable ties and sockets to tighten some screws (and Loctite!) I guess I was rather pessimistic looking at the difficulties in finding KTM spares especially in Argentina in those turbulent times and being on my own in the middle of nowhere. They say "Better safe than sorry" and the imagination of ending a trip because of a minor issue just because spares can't be imported contributed their share. Actually, I helped others with my tools. Next time I'll cut back on weight more radical. Perhaps I even skip the 890 for my old 690. That makes a 50 kg saving right from the start! Que tengas un buen viaje!

Thank you Pavlin. My son and I went on a 320 km (one way) day trip recently. The temperature dropped to 9° C. My (very old) heated jacket failed during g the day. Even though I had the on the non-functioning heated jacket, a leather vest and a leather jacket, I became very cold and suffered a mild case of hypothermia. Although I agree with you on most things, I can’t leave behind a working heated jacket.

Mostly these details are learned through experience. Example: Itchy Boots was travelling with hard cases on her first tour. But now she has discovered that this really isn't necessary. Overall weight to engine power ratio is very important. And sharing experience should be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm a novice motorcycle adventure rider. Pav has done many long motorcycle adventure trips. And who can argue against his experience and recommendation? Not too many can challenge Pav on this subject, and if you do, you're spinning your wheels. This is good advice for a novice rider going on faraway long trips.
