I think a massive plus to three kingdoms total war diplomacy that can't be understated is that the AI ACTUALLY uses diplomacy. They will make their own interesting deals without your involvement. In medieval 2 the ceasefire option is not working correctly, the ai sends a diplomat and agrees to a ceasefire then attacks you one turn later, then that happens again and again, even if the ai has only 1 settlement and it's under siege they might still refuse your vassalization. Alliances broke easily because every faction just goes in a war and then ceasefires the next turn so if its two of your allies you have to choose one, also even if you are the defending side in west europe if you do a small action of hostility against other christian faction you can still get excommunicated before them, that is just cancer.
@meninothomass5 жыл бұрын
@@joshyjosh3772 I actually got used to the diplomacy system. You should never attack factions with a high reputation with Pope and never make alliances with factions that are contesting your territory because they will always betray you. Most of the options the AI never agreed to, which raises the question why was it there (shoutout to military access), peace was either yes or no, there were no negotiations, and sometimes AI refused peace when it was massively losing or accepted peace when it was massively winning. The only diplomacy that actually made sense to use was bribing the pope to not drop an excommunication bomb on you.

Ah Rome 2, I had a sweet Bactria campaign going, all the former seluecied satrapies in one alliance and we were steamrolling the map. Then Friggin parthia declares war on my vassal. So I get the option to betray my vassal, or to break alliance with Parthia. Since an attack against my vassal, is an indirect attack against me, the obvious choice is to protect your vassal and end that alliance. They're the ones who backstab me obviously. Of course that's not how the game sees it, and all my allies now turn against me... Fun times.

@LegendofTotalWar I would expand that part of a good diplomacy system is : a) if the features impact game play - e.g. A.I. respects alliacnes , A.I. takes reliability seriously and so on. b) if the features are worth using - e.g. vassalage in previous TW games was almost useless, to gain them you would often need to almost obliterate a nation and at that point keeping them alive would be a hindrance , cause either they gonna take a part of a province you mostly own , or they will betray you in seconds , they barely worth cash and they didn't help. Three Kingdoms (and ToB a bit) thanks to a massive corruption system made it worth to keep vassals for their armies and income even at the expanse of land to avoid massive corruption and cause the A.I. moved his armies and helped. I would have loved a video featuring a bit more chat on the diplomatic options themselves and where they good or not. p.s. 3 K is missing the technology trade :) but I guess they are reforms and not technologies so ... you can't trade them ;)

Total War 3k's diplo is surprisingly amazing. It does have a few things which I hope they will fix (and based on developer comments, I'm 90% sure they will). The vassalizing system is kind of ridiculous, and often puts the player in an awkward place if you have to choose between defending a vassal and breaking a non-aggression pact. This boils down to what you said about total war warhammer 2: IN some total war games you are left with two bad choices where you accrue bad boy points either way. Total War 3k is the same in this regard, which is something they need to fix. There are similar issues with coalitions and non-aggression pacts.

I just wish the AI followed the same rules as us. "Oh I just broke a NAP? Sucks. Anyway, fuck you." There are some Total War games where it is YOU who actually takes the diplomatic penalty for others breaking agreements with you.

Yeah but like with everything SG2 AI can be CHEESED, my MP friend started a war with oda and oda as the AI does instantly sends me a peace offer and is willing to give me 10K for pace, sometimes the trades are OP too as some people are willing to give you like 3, 5 or even 10K for trade deal. Its sometimes so bad

While i absolutely love the improvements on diplomacy in 3k, there are some serious illogicalities. Well, three at least: 1. What you mentioned about Warhammer (have not played myself), it does not seem to apply to 3k; if you have a non-agression pact with someone and they attack your vassal, your trust rating goes down either way. Dumb. 2. Ultimatums make your trust rating go down. Why? Is it not worse to declare an actual war rather than threaten and give them the option to not be at war, if they pay the price? At max it should make you be seen as aggressive, and at max as much as going to war would but if anything else, then less aggressive and definately not untrustworthy. If attacking people does not make people distrust you, why does bullying? Dumb. 3. The way that the AI derivates its diplomacy points is illogical. If you promise to give them money or food or regular payments, they always appreciate the initial smallest offering more than the increments. Now, that would be logical to a point, because after a certain amount of money you need even more to convince you even more yada yada, but they do it in an abysmal way. How they do it is that the AI appreciates the very first of any three (immediate payments, regular payments or food) at its lowest denomination much more than the latter, but with payments and regular payments they suddenly stop increasing in points. They do, however, appreciate one or the other after the other has worn out its diplomatic impact and example; you offer them a gazillion gold, but they stop caring even if you double or triple the amount, all of a sudden an endless amount does not matter. BUT, then you promise to also give them regular payments, and suddenly their appreciation of the entire deal grows from their point of view. So basically, the AI will much prefer to take 10k instantly and then 20k in 10 turns in addition rather than 50k immediately, eventhough it should never prefer the same amount of money later rather than immediately, but why oh why on earth would they want to settle for much less money just because they dont like the idea of getting more but only immediately? And why do they suddenly not care _at all_ if i increase my offering to, say, 5-fold? Why is getting 10k a big deal, but 50 or 100k does not even do a slight lubrication? And why is the first 50 so much more important than the 50 after that, while the bigger deal multiplied means nothing? And why do they care again if i make an another deal after that (buy some land, then buy more land on the next deal, cause every new deal is one where they care about the initial amount....) and then i either can get some stuff really cheaply, but some not at all, cause the AI does not want more? Super fucking dumb. Also, where are the loans? Has anyone ever managed to get a loan or make a loan that makes any sense? Making loans is, if i recall, something like "ok if you pay me more than you loan in 1 turn and then multiply that by 10 (or is it 11, actually?) turns, il give you the money". They said you would be able to do loans, but......they serve absolutely no function within the game. I was hoping to incite proxy wars and lend money to desperate factions, but i guess no...... Still i love the game and i love the diplomacy, which is finally starting to look like something.

I did like the changing faction Personalities in Total War Attila. Instead of a factions personality remaining exactly the same they changed at the appointment of a new leader. I think it falls down a lot because of the massive imperium penalties that are given and it is unclear just like Rome 2 with its reliability no sure way of know how much it effects a deal.

Shogun 2: Everyone wants to kill you, if not today, then tomorrow. But at least they want to kill you predictably. Honestly Realm Divide is not that fun. It would be better if it was an actual realm DIVIDE, sort of like what happened at the end of the real Sengoku Jidai. You have your coalition and the enemy has theirs. Sort of like in Fall of the Samurai, come to think of it.

@@kokodoko8036 I am playing the Beta of version 1.1.0 as Dong Shuo and Yuan Shao I can handle, he is quite "castrated" now, BUT everybody hates me and keeps declaring war either on me or on Han, no matter if I am much stronger, have trade with them, NonAg. or other agreements, if we just made peace etc. In every game, sooner or later, but rather sooner, I have a conga line of enemy stacks coming up the Yellow River through Luoyang and then to my Capital. I can be nice or evil, it doesn't matter. Last Game I "pacified" Han Sui, let him 1 territory, a farmland, so no income... and let him 1 Army, with 1 General and no troops.... 2 or 3 turns later he declares war again... he is not in any coalition or anything, mind you, just for the sake of it I guess...

@@SinsGamingChannel Yeah, similar thing happened to me in my Dong Zhuo campaign. I got my trustworthiness rating up to normal rebels, everyone is at peace with me and I can safely expand now. Except I can't, because despite non aggression pacts, they still attack the Han and I have to protect them, which is pretty annoying.

@@kokodoko8036 Yeah, it's like a loophole for the AI... "Oh no my dear Lord, I am not declaring war on YOU, just on that nuisance of a puppet emperor...; Yeah, but he is my VASSAL, so you declare war on him is the SAME as declaring war on ME, you fool!", "But oh no my lord, you are mistaken"... what? "press acknowledges" ... They need to fix Diplomacy, so that you cannot declare War on a vassal, but only on the Master.
