I've heard a lot about "Come and See" lately even apart from working on this video collab and really need to give it a watch. Great list!

USNA you have a great collection of memorabilia there ! War movies... as a surplus collector now i look for the weapons and gear that the actors are using and say to my self ..that's correct or not. One thing that really gets me is seeing an M1 carbine with a bayonet lug in a movie that takes place in 1944 or earlier. Your right though USNA if the movie is good every thing is fine. This is a great video you put together !! THANKS.

VERY curious to see that 2022 AQotWF now... I have heard nothing but great things, but you cosigning it helped give it some gravitas. Thank you! Well done!

Thanks, that means a lot! It's definitely worth a watch, though it is pretty brutal in parts.

Great video and I agree with your choices , paths of glory is fabulous...apparently the 'french soldiers' were german off duty policeman. I'd never heard of 'army of shadows' will have to check it out. I've also not yet seen greyhound but definitely on my list. Just a question when you were panning your collection what was the bolt action rifle you had hanging up, looked like a gewher 98, straight bolt handle, but it had a large capacity magazine, just curious 🙂🙂

Thanks, and Happy New Year! And yes, it's a Gewehr 98 with a 20 rd trench magazine.

I have heard of a couple of the movies you mentioned . Can’t say I am a big movie person . Though growing up I saw movies on TV because that is what my dad watched , so I saw a lot of the older war movies . I the ones I watched myself that I really liked was Breaker Morant , with Edward Woodward , about the Boer War & Farewell to the King , with Nick Nolte , in Borneo during WWII

Fantastic list. I watched “Come and See” in Russian Film in college and my wife said I was a dark cloud for three days. That was 12 years ago, and I somewhat want to watch it again. Somewhat, because bringing myself to do so again on such a horrifying film is hard. Nevertheless, definitely fits the bill for a Top 5. I’d love some more commentary on your thoughts on the recent Midway. I was happily surprised with it. Was expecting an “as atrocious as “Pearl Harbor”” but really enjoyed it. What didn’t you like about it?

Thanks! The horrible CGI and melodrama in Midway really took me out of that movie. It was generally historically ok. I had high hopes but was really disappointed.
