This is something that should be thought provoking for all riders - indeed all road users. I come at it not from your position as someone who had to deal with the aftermath (something I don't envy you at all - it's a rough job) but rather the preventative angle of things as both a government certified instructor and then many more years as an advanced motorcycling trainer/mentor/instructor, whichever term you prefer. I could go on for hours but, for a change, I'll try not to. What I'll add is that one of the biggest barriers to improved road safety is attitude. Over the years there have been, and continue to be, countless and varied approaches to attempt to reduce accident rates on our roads, some more successful than others and many of them being of the "blunt instrument" or "scatter gun" variety. As a motorcyclist, it will always be my firm belief that there are no substitutes for training and education - not even experience, although lack of experience is without doubt a frequent factor in the causes of many accidents. When I watch motorcycle accident compilations online, it is very easy to see common patterns emerging and they are as old as motor vehicles themselves, and, as you point out, often entirely preventable. Just the application of some simple and common sense self-governance when riding would keep most riders from finding themselves in a lot of the situations that they do. As I say, to go into too much detail in your comments section isn't on but I'm always happy to discuss riding and roadcraft and answer questions when or if I can. There are also a good number of current qualified instructors who have very good YT channels and content dealing with rider education and training, and worth seeking out.

@@Old_Geezer absolutely well said brother. There is no substitute for wisdom and common sense. Surviving out here does have a lot to do with mindset and attitude. I’m thankful for your comment, it reflects life experience, wisdom, and a well thought out response. Certainly the exposure to these crashes have taken their toll on me, and I only hope that my perspective as someone who has reconstructed several fatal crashes will help others to survive the streets! Appreciate you my bro!! 🏍️🏍️🤙

@@revfreemoto Yep, you've no doubt seen much that most of us would find it hard to process, to put it mildly. Much respect for channelling those experiences into something beneficial for anyone willing to listen. I worked in the insurance industry for 17 years - mainly dealing with commercial motor and liability. Unfortunately, particularly with workplace liability, that sometimes involved some pretty graphic photographic records. Even from a position that far removed, it was grim and very sobering - for those who deal with such things in person, and on a regular basis, all can say is that I don't think I could handle it and they have my utmost admiration - if that's even the right word.

@ that doesn't sound easy either, working in insurance and having to see those pictures. It definitely can be a reality check into our own mortality. I look at it this way - you can either let your trauma destroy you, or you can let it drive you... I chose the former for way too long and now it's time to take my life back! 👊👊💪💪😎

@ I don't know if any of the "regulars" in our mutual comment sections and other subscribers are familiar with your story Jonathon - presumably some are, but fellas, if you haven't seen @revfreemoto 's "About" section on the channel, click on "more" and you'll have a much greater insight and appreciation into what he says here.
