This is the second video I've watched, and I'm impressed, good content, concept, and narration. What would be fun if you're interested in ideas would be getting first place to join you in narration, id love to hear their journey of making some of these pieces. Once again, I enjoy what you're doing here, I think I'll stick around. (Btw, first place was phenomenal, great job. )

Number 2 and Number 1 were honestly the only entries I liked, as they actually the capture the essence of a reptile house to me. Especially how number 1 goes out of its way to make the exhibit animals part of the building instead of it feeling like they just thrown in. The signage, and how they weren't just crammed together really makes it feel like the zoo is trying to showcase them just as much as the habitat animals, much like how an actual zoo would treat these smaller animals.

My play style doesn't resemble this. I've got a pig pen. I put warthogs into a fenced area and let them breed in an uncontrolled manner. Then I expanded my exhibit by creating a large meadow with a lake for them and moved them over there. I also have a couple Pangolins. Last time I played Planet Zoo I felt accomplished because I figured out how to place a water filter and rotate a picnic bench.

WOW such phenomenal builds! They should all be joint firsts.... I would not be able to pick a No. Each has such amazing architecture and/or so many levels. Everything looks so polished and professional. Well if I really really had to choose, 1st place would go to Tobecontinued for the amazing exterior design. The placement of all those wood pieces to create that structure is so perfect. Sartirias classic design is so reminiscent of actual museums and Stately Houses I have visited. It is superb!. Pugums African/Chinese blend of building styles works so well. Asneds Armadillo roof.... wow another stunning piece of architecture!. Rootogrow has an amazing irregular angles to create a really eye catching outer building, the interior is so spacious it allows the peeps to flow and then you emerge into the beautiful glass house. juriA's beautiful building set in the midst of the water looks so good then you pass inside and you look at the exhibits and it is very hard to see where the exhibit ends... so clever. I was also wondering how I had missed those tortoise "seats" in the library area.Another clever use of pieces that had me fooled. Piipos Tails n Scales Oasis made me think of Scandinavian countries, another eye catching building design with an excellent flow of Peeps through the two buildings inside of which feels very bright and airy and uplifting. I am in awe of all these very talented people..... the whole video had me oooing and aahing from start to finish!

I’m blown away. I’ve recently started playing this game and I find it so NOT user friendly. I cannot even figure out how to place buildings into the shells. How in the WORLD does someone accomplish this?! Man!
@suburbia20504 жыл бұрын
the trick is to make sure the shell (which is really just a collection or "group" of pieces) is selected before adding something to it (you will see the edit group xxx in top right when its selected and editable) then any new additional piece you select from one of the menus will be added to it. Ie selecting a bare facility block like a shop will then snap into the existing group, just use shift to raise or lower the item and Z to rotate it before placing anywhere in the grid that is displayed when in edit mode. Make sure you exit from the group edit mode before moving on to something else otherwise it will think you are still trying to add to that building group. I personally would first practise building simple stuff from the ground up rather than trying to retrofit stuff into more complex blueprints especially stuff downloaded from Steam. My way of getting to grips with it would be to start a new Sandbox mode game (dont have to worry about costs etc) and place a bare facility (shop or staff facility etc) on the ground surface and you will see a virtual grid around the piece and "Editing group xx" will appear in the top right to show you have started to create a new building group. This virtual grid is the basic snap outline for the main structural building blocks (bare facilities, wall and roof pieces) and where they will snap when added (you can adjust the size of the grid when in building mode for more custom snapping). When in the building menu only filter on the Wall and Roof/Floor pieces to start with (floor pieces are only really needed if creating something above ground level, note these dont act as valid paths themselves, a path will still need to be laid on top). When you play around with the wall and roof pieces you will see how is easy the snap and align themselves to the virtual grid. Just use shift and Z keys to raise/lower or rotate before placing. Once you have your basic building group consisting of a facilty, walls and a roof, exit the edit group mode (top right). Now add a path to the facility. This is the basic building block that any more complex structures will consist of. I would really get the hang of this first and just build these basic buildings in your zoo before trying to use the decoration pieces which are far more free-form and dont use the grid. Now add another facility to your building, click on your existing building to select it (it will go blue) now select the edit group option in top right menu (double-clicking on a building will go straight to edit mode). Select a new shop or staff facility to be added from the menu and move your mouse around for placement. Notice how the virtual grid expands or contracts depending on how far away you place the mouse, this is how you can create huge buildings. If you are expanding a building it is easy to rearrange the other pieces to fit the addition, select to highlight an existing wall or roof piece in your building and press the "M" key and you will be able to move it. The other key that is useful in this situation is "Shift" + "D" this duplicates the highlighed piece so you can for example easily extend a wall or roof section (Note the M key and Shift D also work on entire buildings when selected outside of the Edit mode). Now try adding a new facility to your existing building outside of the edit mode. When you have selected a new facility and it hovers around with your mouse, if you move your mouse over an existing building group you will be given the option to "Select Group xxx to Add to" click here to confirm you want to add it to that building group and you will be placed into edit mode for that building group. The trick to detail and individuality are the other type of building piece, so called the "decorations" which include the decorative windows and doors, even the plants and rocks, these are pieces that dont snap to the virtual grid (the grid will not show up) as they are not structural but they will snap to an existing building piece like a wall or roof or another decoration piece depending if you have "Postition snap" or "align to surface" selected in its menu bottom right. My advice would be to get your basic building built before adding such pieces. However again, if you want to add one of these pieces to an existing building you must make sure you have selected that building group and that you are in edit mode. You can combine such decorative pieces into single pieces for easier managment and duplication. For example if you make an attractive standing street lamp out of a couple of poles and light piece you can combine it and then duplicate it with Shift D. As you will notice these "decorative" pieces are far more free form in their positioning being unlimited, compared to the structural pieces that sit on a grid and make up the bulk of your building. The align to suface and position snap options (bottom right menu when piece selected) can help limit the possiblities when arranging their position but sometimes they can be unhelpful, say if you want to place a horizontal beam vertically instead. So play about with the align to suface and position snap options and see how it changes the behaviour. The really helpful positioning keys for decorative items is the "X" key and double press "X" key. It is often easier to place a decorative item roughly in a spot and orientation that you want first and once place and highlighted, press the X key to fine-tune the axis position (slide mouse along one of the coloured axis arrows) and double press X key to adjust the orientation. "Ctrl" + "X" is another really useful key, highlight a decorative piece and press "Ctrl" + "X" this creates a duplicate of a piece but fixed to the current location and then you can just slide it along a fixed axis and click to place it, then repeat. Really useful for creating long lines of something. You use the same techniques when selecting multiple decorative pieces at the same time or as I mentioned before just merge the pieces into a single piece first before duplicating it or changing its position.
