Prices like that are only due to resellers. Its not even a part of sneaker culture, its the exploitation of people making their consumer choices represent their identity. If one sneaker makes you "look cool or rich" then these resellers will capitalize on the hype and creat artificial scarcity. Sneaker culture is just liking sneakers and collecting/wearing them.
