Good evening, wondering about if you have ever used both sets of Grill Grates and tested how well it can cook with two sets in for grilling on the entire bottom area?

Hey There, on my list! I got side tracked and haven’t done it yet, but that’s for the reminder. I’ll get it bumped up for a video soon. 🍻

@@RumandCook great video today about slowing down on the number of video's. Completely understandable. I like my time :). So watching some videos saying to get really fairly even heat across 6 grill grates on the 640 leave the heat diffuser in place. With out ouf looking like wont be so even a cook across them but I cant find one really showing it.

Hey. Had my Yoder for awhile and have all the options. I recently added hickory chunks to my pellet pot after it got good and hot. 3-4 chunks for ribs or brisket. It added a lot of extra smoky flavor to my cooks. Highly recommend. Tip from my local Yoder BBQ dealer.
@RumandCook2 жыл бұрын
Hrmm that sounds interesting. I’m assuming one at a time and fairly small?
@DHintonKnives2 жыл бұрын
@@RumandCook 1.5 to 2 inch chunks. I put 4 on in the beginning when I started the ribs this last time. I turned the controller temp down 20 degrees lower because I added extra fuel to the fire pot. I didn't add any extra after the initial amount.

Cool, thanks!

Just a heads up - I reached out to Yoder about this and they said this should not be done and told me to not even try it. They said the only way to improve smoke is with a smoke tube. I was curious and wanted to ask before I did a video on it.

@@RumandCook Interesting. It was the owner of a Yoder dealer that told me he recommended it.

Thanks for the tips. My YS640S arrives tomorrow. I ordered the grill grates, half rack and stainless shelves. I didn't order the cast iron griddle or the grease shield but they will probably be next. The thermal jacket will be ordered as we move into autumn.

Agree with you top choices, I have all those accessories except for the 1/2 grate with my YS640. Just got the front sleeve for Christmas, nice addition. Thanks for all the great videos!

Quite welcome! 1/2 grate is nice if you do a lot of week day cooking. Cook for one or two and don’t have a full grate in your way. Thanks for watching. 🍻

The BBQ shop I ordered my Yoder from orders ALL Yoders with the stainless sleeves and grill grates. They said that the Yoder is so much better with those, they don't even order them without anymore. I was going to get the front grease guard, but the new Yoder models have a lip that directs condensate down into the body, so the front stays clean and it no longer seems necessary. I have the griddle on order and am considering ordering the half-grate because the bottom isn't useable with the full top grate in; I take it out when I use the bottom.
@RumandCook Жыл бұрын
The front guard is still good. You’d be surprised how often you drop sauce or drippings down the front. Good call on the shelves. 🍻

Great Top 5. The front great Shield is nice but it cuts out 2 of your other Top 5 choice. Can’t use the Thermal blanket with the grease shield and the Front shelf sleeve is nice but it voids the storage holder on the grease shield. Now if the made a grease shield without the storage box on the front that would be the ticket😉
@RumandCook Жыл бұрын
Thermal Jacket can’t be used at high temps either, but it works great in the cold weather. Really depends where you live for the value. I have to have the sleeves, my rum and coke almost spilled! Hah 🍻

what is the best cover for rain and humidity...doesn't have to be for a Yoder per say....
@RumandCook2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the product. The Yoder needs to be protected, but also needs to breathe so their cover is the only one I would recommend. For general covers there is www.the-cover-store.com that has a bunch of options. Thanks for watching! 🍻

Hi Jake, #1 is a must have for sure. Do you cover the Yoder at the end of each night, or do you keep it uncovered if the weather's gonna be good? Also if you do cover it, do you keep the little side holes open so it get’s a bit more air flow? It’s been raining here a fair bit, so I’ve been covering each night after it cools down, hoping that’s enough so the moisture doesn’t rust the unit. Thanks sir!
@RumandCook Жыл бұрын
If it is wet don’t cover it. You will trap water underneath the cover. Otherwise good to keep it covered. You can apply ACF-50 or mineral oil to help prevent rust. 🍻

Not needed if it will just live on a patio. Spend the money on the accessories mentioned in video particularly the cover, stainless shelves, & grease guard.

I don’t like the Diamond-pattern grates, personally. I find them difficult to clean.
@RumandCook2 жыл бұрын
Easiest way is blade style scraper. Do both sides and they come up nice and clean. Always good to do a seasoning with oil before first use. Thanks for watching 🍻

I’ve taken mine and used my gas grill to clean it. Luckily it fits inside. I turn on all 3 burners on high, foil on top and go until clean. As a bonus, the grill grates are clean too!
