One of my college students was from Nigeria, where he said corruption was a way of life. The same is true of Zimbabwe. Government red tape was resolved with bribery. When a county has a strong upper class, a large lower class and no strong middle class, it is a country ripe for revolution. Several African entities are virtual powder kegs.

@@african-history-fountain To say, he's then going broke
@m.s91464 жыл бұрын
Highly leveraged, he is back to 8 billion. Shouldn’t mess in expensive fields like oil that you know nothing about. It’s foolish to have invested 12 billion plus of OPM in an industry that is rapidly becoming passé. Oil selling for a few dollars a barrel in March, it will never make a full recovery. He has never developed the markets for his refinery. A mistake often made in the industry - people like to say “I own a refinery.” Yeah, well who are you going to sell the oil to? Chinese were buying for cents on the barrel in March and North Korean oil tankers were sitting in the ocean, abandoned and unable to unload. He should stick to rice and cement. He went into an industry he knew nothing about at a time when the use of fossil fuels is coming to an end. Bad mistake. He won’t be the first billionaire to lose his shirt.
@tosinojo73104 жыл бұрын
@@m.s9146 "He has never developed the markets for his refinery" lol..the stupidity in that statement alone. Stick to the topics you know about. Like Nigerias markets for oil need to be developed..one word we will refine the oil we already use/import....there is no need to develop the markets...once he is finished FG will step in to reduce oil importation as they did rice...making us the 7th largest rice producer in 9 months
@m.s91464 жыл бұрын
@@tosinojo7310 I see, what are your credentials? We were trading, shipping and refining oil when Dangote was hand packing bags with rice. You believe the hype. Markets are limited. How is the folly coming along? Not well I’ve heard. He advertises on CNN in the US like he is a major force, he will lose his shirt and that of many others. If you read my other comments, I acknowledged his expertise in rice and cement. But you are the neophyte if you think that trading rice is anything like trading or refining oil or gas. You, I suggest, know nothing of the complexities of the oil market. Many, far smarter and more experienced than Rice Man, have lost everything. Are you suggesting that he be given a complete monopoly in Nigerian oil output? How foolish, without production or infrastructure? Aren’t you making a huge assumption that Nigerian oil producers will work with him to their detriment? Do you think these mega millionaire/billionaires will bow to Dangote’s wishes? That they are just going to shuffle their feet and say “yes suh, massa Dangote, we all jus gonna give you all our crude oil!” Don’t be naive. These business people are in the game to make money, not to make Dangote look successful. Where are the agreements for these hypothetical relationships with oil producers? They don’t exist! You greatly over simplify. It’s a huge risk and now said to cost 18 billion. Let’s see what happens, he’s made some powerful enemies over the years and he is out of his depth. As his construction is delayed and the price soars to new highs, the world moves away from fossil fuel and toward alternative energy. It’s a white elephant.

Jubileeyears You love your Neighbour as yourself. Most of these people are very philanthropic, they do what Governments do. They worked for their own success just like you. Difference is they exceeded beyond their expectations and must first enjoy fully the fruit of their labor. Why don't you also become a billionaire and give it all away. What they have earned is theirs to do what they like. There is nothing as irritating as some lazy person budgeting for people who have made it. It is the accumulation of wealth upon wealth that makes it possible for the Nigerian lady to offer scholarships to over 1,000 university annually and Oprah to build a school for girls in South Africa. You would be amazed at what people like Steve Masiywa does to young Africans.

Funny you would say something such as this; I'm just wondering, do you say this to every millionaire or billionaire?!
