I think everyone here agrees with me when I say if you need a break, you should take it. We can get our entertainment somewhere else for a while. If it eases your conscience, maybe set yourself a goal (a nice even number) of days in a row of content, then acknowledge that as the accomplishment it is and take a vacation. You need a vacation, CGB! Do it!

Your opening hit home. I went through a rough few years and Magic was the only thing I had as an outlet. Hey CGB! I really appreciated the context of the intro and the personal update and hope your dog gets better soon. I resonated with what you said about giving people an escape, I'm a new-ish Magic player of 6 months, I got into it because my partner loves it and makes brilliant decks, and I love learning about gameplay and trying new archetypes and ideas. I live in Oregon where we currently have pretty scary wildfires across the whole state, and have been commuting to a job that wears me out a lot on the daily in shitty air quality. I've been pretty depressed and most days one of the only things that gets me through a work day is knowing I get to come home, change out of my smoke-y clothes, heat up some food and grab a drink and do something mindless like watch streamers on KZbin. Then when I've recuperated a bit I practice guitar or play magic with my partner or whatever else, but yeah watching your channel among some others is one of my favorite decompression rituals and I'm grateful for the hard work you put into it! Of course I wouldn't mind in the slightest if you took a day off, I feel like I need about a week off at the moment lol. But the dedication is very much seen and appreciated.

Hey Daniel, Going out of my way to respond to your talking. Congratulations mate, since this is like the 2nd time I do so in 10-15 years of using KZbin. For whatever this might be worth to you. Anyhow, I am writing to first of all thank you for caring so much about the community and striving to provide them, us, those hours of entertainment. I can only imagine how big the toll must be talking at the screen for hours day in day out. Especially when your doggo gets sick. With that in mind I have to admit I am impressed by the perspective / state of mind you chose to approach / handle your circumstances. This is the kind of grit I would've expected from the CGB you've presented us so far. Regardless, and I admit I might just misinterpret things, I couldn't help but notice the sadness in you when you told us it's alright to skip to the Magic part, because you know, that many are in fact here because of Magic mainly or only. But that is alright the way it is in both directions, isn't it? I just hope that you are not ashamed of allowing your humanity to be have a space in this slightly bigger space you're providing for us. After all, there can be no CGB when Daniel fades away. Speaking of which: A CGB might be free of weaknesses, but you are not, Daniel. And seeing your smile become slightly twisted to a grimace as you put on those glasses while rationalizing away why you crank out yet another video, f'ing hurt, man. It hurt, because I'm not sure who you are rationalizing for: For us or more for yourself? Hearing you talk this way, act this way f'ing hurt, because I have been in this position myself quite often, devoting myself to something which I thought to be important enough to sacrifice myself for. Whether those sacrifices turn out to be worth the struggle or turn out to have been in vain, we often only know ourselves after we've committed them. That's why I'm not going to argue your aspiration of enduring yet another hour of exhausted evil-CGB mono-red nonsense in order to provide some relieve for tens of thousands of your viewers. But I do want to ask you to look at it this way: If you set out to act in a manner that benefits as many people as possible, while accepting that this means for you to bear the consequences, why does it have to be in a way that might put you at risk of exhausting yourself or worse? When you travel by plane the staff asks you to put on your mask first, before you help others, right? Might it be that they do so because they know, people are selfish creatures? Or might it be because they know that we are of no help to anybody if we don't help ourselves first. Or to put it another way: The doctor who works himself ill might appear noble at first, but ultimately is a fool for he is neglecting many more patients in the long run by neglecting taking care of himself. Anyhow, wanted to share this small wall of text and by that thank you again for the content you provide and especially for allowing yourself to be human in front of all of us. Please don't be sad that at times it appears that people care only about Magic and CGB, because this is certainly not always the case. Also, I think you should know better than to cast pearls before swine and mono-red players ;) And ultimately it is you who decides which type of content you are sharing and how much space to provide for that, right? Hey CGB, your talk about the day off can really fit into teaching, I'm currently on the last period of my masters in physics, and one of the requirements is teaching some classes. There was a period during that process that I felt like trash, but still had to prepare the material for the class and put on a smile, and looking back I can realize that it the feeling of having the class learn the subjects and engage on something and laughed at a few bad jokes is good, I can really understand your point of view, however, if you really need a break, we understand, you can't bring us happiness if you aren't happy. Hey CGB. I woked up today after seeing my grandma in my dreams. She died two weeks ago and I haven't yet got used to it. I work at a hospital and had a difficult night sift, today I have one more. I felt really bad because of the psychological und physical exhaustion. I made a cup of coffee and the first thing I did while drinking it was to start watching your video. I see your points on skipping and your choice to carry on shows your professionalism and good heart. Still, sometimes a break can give you an opportunity to reflect on some things. Not saying there's something with anything you're doing, just saying taking a break can be a step forward, even though you think you're missing out on doing something.
