The Ashiok ultimate in the middle of the video did indeed make me dance a little. I've been playing with a dimir control similar to the one you showed recently and it is so satisfying to use Ashiok to steal an opponent's Scute Swarm and use it against them. I do a little dance every time

Piloted this deck Sunday night against just wave on wave of omnath, it was like some epic Gandalf vs balrog fight. Two endless value engines trading blow upon blow until finally something went wrong. RIP to a real one, uro.

I have a feeling the algorithm is broken but it’s not visible through MTGArena. The hand smoothing algorithm ruins the true sense of mtg. I’m actually very disappointed in how often I feel cards are grouped together or only a couple top decks away from each other.

Redcap makes sense in a way, it a 1 drop remove opponents omnath or terror and if you need to sack a land it's not like omnath decks struggle for land

I haven't collected or played since the Mirage, Visions days but jumped back in with Throne in a big way trying to get my daughters interested and LOVE hearing the Adventure decks are still SOMEWHAT competitive in standard. If ANYONE could answer, do you believe they'll create new Adventure creatures in future sets? Or even, and more alluring to me a return to Throne would be AWESOME! Just hope they do it before they PRICE paper players completely out of being able to brew cool, reasonably competetive decks via pack purchases. It'll suck if they start creating cards with the power of FOW, or Mana Crypt that can ONLY be acquired buying $100 PACKS! I mean they've pretty much been doing that all along with desirable mythics. I bought the equivalent to 6 booster box's at least as well as 3 collectors box's and got ZERO of the Scions which i WANTED for my youngest daughter's deck, and I got ONE OKO! Finally got lucky and pulled my last 3 Questing beast but prior to that I had ALL Robbers and others like that gold forgettable starts with O i think and magic mirrors etc :( SHOULDN'T HAVE BULK MYTHICS!!! If you purchase enough to open a dozen MYTHICS you SHOULD get a variety, NOT 5 of one, 4 of another and pairs of a few more with IF YOU'RE LUCKY ONE desirable, playable card that ideally you'd have a playset to work with in a deck. It SUCKS! I guess not as much an issue now that it's not 1997 anymore and the only access we have to cards is our little LGS and playgroup. Hell if it were like that still Oko wouldn't be banned etc because VERY FEW would even be able to get enough box's to end up with 4 of. Hope they don't reprint Henge. They could increase sales if they still ADDED to the RL rather than REPRINTING cards that are still available in its original set!!! Ie Fabled Passage. I knew that was going to be a hot one for standard and expected it to be made better in following sets like landfall has done for it. If it wasn't already available in what 3-4 sets, the ones i got would actually be WORTH something, instead my very expensive fancy Dancy one from Throne collector packs has already been outshined by a fancier dancier one :( i WANT WANT WANT paper to survive but how long will we continue spending to get the chase cards when we KNOW they will be worthless a year if not only months down the road. We should have reasonable access to the BEST PLAYABLE cards. Hate it. Much love to my fellow Gatherers. And CGB is AWESOME, THANKS CGB not that i would read this comment if I were you. Wish i could see the faces of the despicable millers when the eventually realize they're milling a 80 card deck. :)

So, wondering about your take on the new Jace. Not really for BO1, but ive played about 6 games with him in BO3 in an Esper control list, and he has vastly outperformed my expectations when kicked. Mostly for land drops. I dont think I've missed a land drop with him out. And if you draw a 2nd Jace, just draw a card that kills him off, and you have 2 to scry with and 1 to draw with each turn. Really has amazed me so far

I played against this deck (or something VERY close to it last night 27 Sep) and lost to it playing a rogue build similar to yours. Opponent drew no blue Mana for the first 8 turns or so and after staling the board with Event both of us top decked 5 straight turns of lands and he got his blue source (shuffler's fine guys) and got his Ashiok on the table. He ended up countering my Rankle that I finally drew and that was game.

And then only mulligan if the hand does nothing or has bad mana issues. @CGB I was wondering the other day, when standard rotates and we’re provided 5 sets, how difficult is it to continue to crank out daily content for your community? I feel as if many decks could become a little repetitive, like we’ll see when we’re at the end of an 8 set pre-rotation. Do you think you’ll be forced to provide us with a jank week here and there to make it to the next set? Thoughts?

The rotation set is typically the most powerful of a set so most it's cards like adventures are still powerful as new sets are released. We saw a similar situation with eldraine bant and sulti food was similarly as powerful as omnath is now. Decks like mono red could try to race but oko turn two was just too powerful for most strategies. Omnath is holding back the meta from being diverse.

I could see an Uro & Ultimatum ban. Both are old sets and are really the main thing most Cobra/Omnath decks are trying to hit. The only Zendikar card that might possibly get the hammer is Crab. It would be less threatening without ultimatum though.

Ashiok has been a go to for for me ever since ugin came back into standard, nothing more satisfying than bouncing an ugin and forcing them to exile it cause they have no other cards left in hand then eventually casting it on my side with the -7 after stalling with tokens every turn. Feelsgoodman

You should register for a standard event with Uro, Omnath, and Lotus Cobra such that if any of those cards get banned, you can make a video of the event in about three months from now for content.

I'm a big fan of these Sultai decks. However, I'm not totally sure if Garruk is the right answer for all these Omnath and aggro decks at the moment...? It seems that you need a lot of cheap removals and counter spells at the beginning to react to all the early threats and to make sure that your opponent will not draw the cards and get all the mana they need.

Maybe instead of banning new cards right out the gate (and I'm not trying to say omnath isn't broken here), they should create a new play mode called "standard unbanned" where all banned standard cards become legal. Incentivize people to play with some sort of rewards for 10 winning games or something. Then we can find out what people make with access to all the goodies, see what is winning, and drive bans and even unban cards to balance the play

lol why ultimatum? people keep trying to blame other cards but the fact is Omnath is stupid strong. Ultimatum is hard to cast while Omnath is pretty easy with lotus cobra. any creature that can draw cards, gain life, get free mana, and ping your opponent is over the edge

It can Bring in Omnath, More lands, and more trouble directly onto the Board. While Uro, or Omnath aren't as troublesome as that. Also I don't see them Banning Omnath or Lotus Cobra 3 days (as of today) from when Zendikar Rising was released in paper. Banning Uro won't really weaken the power of Omnath at all. And Escape to the wild, does help, but its not quite as fast. But Ultimatum Does. It feels like too big of a bomb for the Omnath deck. Almost similar to if you get a Mutated Starrix Scute Swarm to pop. But that is just of course an opinion. And how I look at it.
