Such a HELPFUL video in how you did a breakdown of the cost levels! (I’m going to use similar language with customers now). I’ve always gone with the traditional Gildan hoodies, because they were familiar to me, and very cost effective. Then on a whim I ordered a Next Level crew sweatshirt for a personal design, and OMG what a huge difference in feel! Happy I can offer a range for customers. Headed to the tshirt video now!
@transferexpress Жыл бұрын
Awesome, I'm so happy we could help! Breaking down the apparel into those Basic / Fashion Forward / Premium categories definitely gives your customers the option and really helps simplify the wide world of wholesale apparel blanks. In a lot of cases, the customer can't justify the cost difference for those higher-priced blank until they feel or wear them, but... then they're sold! 😁 Either way, giving the customer the options puts them in control, and then if they select a higher priced blank, it typically leads to a little more profit in those bulk orders too- a win win!

This video came at such a perfect time! I was spending a very long time trying to compare hoodies and this video was exactly what I needed!! I would love to see a video on crewnecks and tank tops for the warmer months. I would also love to see shirts specifically for ladies...I have a lot of women looking for apparel that are cut to fit real women. Lastly, I ordered the SS4500 from Independent and was surprised to find it has zero given which made it difficult to put on. It's a comfy hoodie, but I wouldn't want to sell it with zero stretch in the neck or waist. Not sure if they're all like this or if I got a dud. 🤔
@transferexpress Жыл бұрын
Oooh, I haven't heard that about the SS4500- It does have some give to it, but it's a little more "rigid" (if that's even the right word) than some of the other hoodies- Like the District style, Next Level or Bella + Canvas. Awesome idea for the Women's styles, I'll get that on the radar. We do have a crewneck version for just regular tees here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/omjFh4h8htmNgqM

I sooo appreciate this video and describing the difference between the hoodies. However what is the best hoodie for heavy embroidery?
@transferexpress Жыл бұрын
Thanks Kelly, we're so glad we could help out... this one was a fun video to make. For heavy embroidery, the heavier-weight options we show here would be optimal: The Gildan 18500 or the Independent SS4500 both clock in over 8 oz. For heavy-heavy weight hoodies for those colder temperatures, District makes the DT6600 Heavyweight Fleece Hoodie, similar to the DT1101 we review here but instead of 8.2 oz, the DT6606 fabric clocks in at 12 oz, for a seriously cozy hoodie.

Great vid so far. How are these hoodies when it comes to dye. A lot of my customers want red but the hoodies I’ve been using have a huge amount of dye that bleeds a lot when washed. Is there any way to counter it. Like should I pre soak or wash them b4 pressing my vinyl on them?
@transferexpress Жыл бұрын
For the 50/50’s you may have some dye migration- it’s best to use a HTV or transfer type made for dye block. Something like this: www.stahls.com/heat-transfer-vinyl-silicone-dye-block

Im starting my hoodie business and i want to screen print the hoodies and i ordered 35% poly 65% cotton 5% spandex the manufacturer said they wont workout any recommendations on what exactly i should order plus the weight and material
@transferexpress Жыл бұрын
Direct screen printing on spandex can cause some issues for sure, there's specific stretch inks you should be using. We have heat transfers that can apply to spandex content no problem: UltraColor Max for low quantities ( www.transferexpress.com/heat-applied-transfers/ultracolor-max ) and UltraColor Stretch for higher 36+ quantities (www.transferexpress.com/heat-applied-transfers/ultracolor-stretch ) if you're set on the style. Typically 50/50 cotton poly blend hoodies are your best bet (like the styles we show here). I'd recommend any of the Bella Canvas, Next Level or Independent Styles we feature here. The weight of the hoodie will be dependent on what your brand's target audience is- Is it athletic wear? Stay lighter. Cold weather? Stick with a heavy weight. Spring styles or fan gear? Midweight is a safe bet.

What is the shrinkage like on the District hoodie? Would you recommend for a sports team between the P&C and the District?
@transferexpress Жыл бұрын
Great Question Chris! I've been wearing and washing them since making this video and haven't noticed considerable shrinking. The Port & Company seems to be a little tighter after a few washes, but it's minimal. For sports teams, It depends on their budget- The PC78H here has a little bit more of an athletic-style fit than the fashion-forward fit of the District. Recently (and kicking myself for not including it in this video) I've taken a liking to the PC850H Fan Favorite Hoodie, it's a touch more expensive over the PC78H but it has a 100% cotton outside for no scorching, a little bit heavier and flat drawstrings with wider seams on the pocket.

I’ve been using TKO sales company for transfers for a little over a year. I am looking to have a back up the only issue I’m running into with them is the shipping is just very expensive and I’m trying to find single image transfers for a bigger size. For example, I have some customers that are a three XL and because of that I have to order a gangsheet of those sizes and the last project was very expensive where I made a little to no profit so in conclusion, I would like to get a sample kit from you guys to see how you guys transfers are how do I go about to that?

WOOOW BELLA CANVAS OVER INDEPENDANT??? I was going to start with independant....now i'm confused! lol. has any1 tried both??
@transferexpress Жыл бұрын
👋 Hi, we've tried both! LOL It really depends on your (or your clients) budget. Independent is highly recommended across the industry as a stellar surface for decorating and a quality garment (built tough and it lasts long while being a great hoodie along the way). I (Dave) personally have printed on Independent for a solid 80% of the hoodies i've decorated over the past 10 years. Bella + Canvas hoodies are much softer and lighter than Independent, with a more fashion-forward fit.
@RAZASHARP Жыл бұрын
@@transferexpress thanks, Dave.!! I’m actually building a sort of luxury/streetwear brand.. so the softer & fashionable definitely goes my way! Oh, what is your take on doing both …. And advertising one as a lightweight and one as heavyweight ??🤔Thank you!
@transferexpress Жыл бұрын
I think that's a great idea! There's some people who LOVE the bella feel and some who think its too lightweight or just prefer a boxier fit. I've never heard complaints about the independent, but its much closer to the standard "hoodie" many people think of. The new(ish), jersey lined hood is a nice touch on the SS4500 too!

Do you have a favorite sweatshirt?
@transferexpress Жыл бұрын
We've got a few favorites for crewneck sweatshirts! Dave's go-to is the Independent SS3000, available in 21 colorways with a nice midweight 80/20 cotton/poly blend. It's a companion to the Independent SS4500 we looked at in this video at 7:22. Second on the list is the Port & Company PC850 Fan Favorite Fleece crewneck. Clocking almost identical specs to the SS3000 (8.5oz, 80/20 blend), this style is a lower cost while still feeling and fitting great. It even has a sewn-in locker patch area for printing the inside tag. On the higher-end, The Comfort Colors 1566 is a fantastic choice. Slightly heavier at 9.5oz, this 80/20 blend features 20 garment-dyed colorways that are in high-demand. It's a relaxed, lived-in feel that's everything I look for in a crewneck sweatshirt. All of these styles have a 100% cotton face that make printing with a heat press simple and frustration-free!
