Just saw these comments about the Swytch conversion and have to say that I love mine. 88 years old and not a bike mechanic, I installed the first version during the pandemic on my Electra Townie. It went on easily and without a hitch and I’ve been riding it happily ever since. No problems whatsoever. Just saying… Neil Shadle

I did my trike with BBS02 Bafang about 6 years ago & still going strong. I have 52 v battery pack and 48 v pack as back up. I can do over 80 miles when both are charged up to max power. The first 5 years I used for commute to work for total of 13.6 miles both ways. That is for 5 times week and sometimes for longer rides back to the house for fun. I am in my 60's now and still ride it to work on no rain or snow days. Oh, above freezing tempter days. If you want cheep trike buy the parts build your own trike. Happy Riding. Last year in August of 2022 I rode in HHH bike ride for 50 miles. I'll see you there.

I have got the add-e next from Austria, below and behind the bottom bracket, works like the livall, the detachable battery looks somewhat like a bottle. Wonderful for everyday cycling, just adds 50-600 Watts to your cycling. Three different sizes of power packs. Your tyres have to be quite sleek. You will manage every ascent, but full power for half an hour will empty the midsize power pack. All commuting will be possible. Efficient and surprisingly unobtrusive, most people wouldn‘t even notice it. System weight 2,1 kg. Age 57, living in a somewhat mountainous region, I enjoy cycling again, using the additional support when needed. It enables cycling any road, mostly sweating because I love the exercise, but always pedaling at a nice cadence. Not cheap around 1500 Euro, but I can keep my beloved everyday cycle fully equipped at about 16 kilograms. Good, eh? Many settings possible. You can even set the Sport Edition to 45 km/hour, illegal though without insurance-Plate. Greetings from Germany!

I design and fabricate friction drives for the last ten years. To prevent friction gears from slippage, the contact surface materials used for both the drive and driven gears have to be perfectly matched to prevent slippage as well as wear and tear. Unless PikaBoost provides the matching friction gear for each individual tire type (e.g. treads type and hardness), slippage is unavoidable. I have tried mounting a friction drive on my road bike before. It slips in wet condition and adds extra wear to the treads of the tire if the pair is not matched.

People need to realize that the Whole point of Green Energy is to be GOOD for the environment. A NORMAL boke that you operate with your FEET is already the BEST option for your health and the environment. Adding a device to a thing with not device does NOT reduce pollution, it creates it. All the parts of the device were minded and assembled. Just peddle your bike with your feet. Or better yet, walk.

Some people don't have the ability to ride a manually powered bike, but can enjoy riding with an electric assist. Where they would be left sitting out otherwise, it gives them an ability to do what otherwise would be impossible. I for one wish I were a teenager with unlimited energy that I had way back then, but sadly the strength stamina and energy fade over the years. Also the whole going green e fad is a myth of sorts, ever consider where the electric comes from to operate the electric item also th3 energy spent to build the items and infrastructure that cause fossil fuels to become a thing of the past, use said fuels to create what will eventually replace said carbon negative items, where any savings on emissions become negligible and in the end coal, gas and oil create most of the electricity produced, so to go green is only having someone else emit carbon into the atmosphere, rather than put it there by ones self, but it makes some feel better by not being the actual polluter.
@sasamichan Жыл бұрын
@@WeChallenge Maybe, but the people I see use them are kids and teens who are verry able bodied. Bottum line electric batteries are NOT green energy they take minerals to build they take hours to charge. If you want to go green, go by foot or by bus or train also Bikes are no good for farm owners.

Small mind - ebike make long distant bike ride easier, reducing the likelihood of ICE automobile dependency. If you want to truly go green, why are you using the internet and using electricity? Do you not know those electronics required materials that are mined and electricity likely are produced from fossil fuels? Hm...........

@@sasamichanThe going green thing is fake. It doesn't matter if a 100,000 people ditch their cars and choose walking as their maim form on transportation. @Cammi_Rosalie Жыл бұрын
Hey, Good for you that you can do that. But bear in mind that not all who wish to own an e-bike are lazy. Did you forget to consider those with physical limitations? It's not just down to "wimps" tough guys. I, for example, have asthma, iron deficiency, a heart condition and an Achilles tendon that got chopped by a falling power tool. I used to be a very avid rider. Many miles a day, riding for fun, relaxation and errands. My free time was spent on my bike. My bike was my ticket to the world. My freedom. 100km a week.. or 62 miles? that was little numbers for me. From the time I learned to ride, up until after high school, I rode as much as I could. I participated in every bike event, St. Jude Bike-a-thon, meet, etc that I could possibly attend. That is, until my body told me to quit doing it about 15 years ago. Where I live there are hills as well. That alone puts me off of a bike, and into my van. Now, thanks to e-bikes and conversion kits, I have a chance to get back on the saddle and enjoy the trails and the sights not seen from my big van. That, and while I'm certainly no environmentalist or tree hugger type, I am sick to death of paying 3+ dollars a gallon for gas when I could just hop on a bike and even get some exercise by using a lower pedal-assist setting while preferably NOT dying or ending up in crippling pain in the process. Plus it would help reduce my own impact by not having to drive everywhere. I believe that a large number of ebike users / potential users are in a similar spot as I am. I'm not old, Just got dealt a bad hand in the physicality department. I figured that a cyclist would be happy to see more people getting on bikes and out of their cars, to be honest. Speaking of annoying, since you brought it up: What annoys me are cyclists who ride on the roads, pay no registration, insurance or inspections. They have no licenses to operate their vehicles. They regularly disobey traffic laws of the road they are on. Splitting lanes, running red lights, riding in the lane far, far below the prevailing speed of traffic. Then they think that their butts, wagging in the air and covered in spandex 5 sizes too tight are harder than the fully registered and road legal, truck air-horns blaring, roughly 3.5 tons of chrome and steel in a customized 1990 Dodge conversion van coming at them at 60 mph, (That's 1,142,166 joules, right up the pooper, by the way) and they still refuse to move aside! Y'all have a deathwish or what? I 'm not accusing you of that, but there are a LOT, if not the majority of cyclists that I have seen who do that. When I rode, I respected the road or street if I was on one. I got the hell over, well into the shoulder and let the cars pass. And would do so again if I had an ebike. We just need some mutual respect. Respect those who pay to use the road, by moving over. Respect the bikes who use the road out of necessity, by giving some room (but stay in your lane) Respect those who need an ebike, and respect those who don't. Just ride your thing and do your thing. Let others do theirs.
