Frog should be higher on the list imo, it's my number three tame after ptera and argy. Frogs jump up cliffs pretty easily, it tanks all damage for you (and takes little fall damage), you can use weapons while on it, it's exactly fast enough base to outswim megalodons, and it has unlimited underwater stam and terrific jumping stam. It has the bug damage bonus (which clears bees so you can get honey easily), AND it gets the bug damage bonus against euryptids (4x I think, mine one-shots most of them and two-shots 150s), and collects both kinds of pearls, oil and meat from euryptids. So it's a great early tame as you can grab one with an argy, tame it and start building up pearls and oil, and also get easy meat for dino feeding and easy honey for a megatherium or bear tame. Its frankly pretty OP as far as a utility dino goes, and I'd put it as more valuable than a bary for utility.

You know, it would be the ideal first flyer tame instead of pteras. It lives on the beaches anyways, and while slow, it has twice the carry weight of a ptera. And it collects fish like a boss, so food is all set with one. You'd use it to get started, then fly up with it to get your ptera / argy. It fits through a 1-wall space so perfect for an argy trap.

Quick tip here. Requires 1 Argy and 1 Ankylo and 2 players. Player 1 flies Argy and picks up player 2 while riding Ankylo. Harvest metal as it weighs less on Ankylo.

My personal list 5. Baryonyx: can swim, can jump, can go fast contend with other fast creatures (excluding spino), and doesn't require oxygen 4. Argy: can fly, portable smithy, can make a pack of anything small (direwolf, raptor, terror bird) by carrying it and then dropping it, and can regen hp after killing 3. Direwolf (only in a pack of at least 3): can get a boost as alpha, can kill rexes, spinos, raptors, thylacoleos, and sabertooths with ease in a pack 2. Spino: 2 stances, very good swimmer, good dmg, faster than raptors, direwolf, even thylas at base speed 1. Thyla: can climb making taming spinos easier, high resistance to fall dmg, fast water and ground mount, can jump high enough to jump over rocks, high hp, contends with any creature (even alphas just be careful I said these were my personal experience so this list can change easily (this was center AND island maps for some). An example is direwolf only was used in island map and thyla on center.

Well after the TLC the Spino is one of my fav. I would always prefer a Spino over a Baryonyx. Waterbuff increases the movement speed and the damage. He's also a good swimmer and can turn around on point. So he has a greater movement then a Rex: can turn around on point, better stamina, fast, can also swim fast. So this is my favorite allrounder.

My favorite all-rounders is the thylacoleo and spino. Thylacoleo can climb (useful if have bad armor and can enter caves. The spino (on center map) can enter the cave in the middle jungle and kill the titanoboas, piranhas, and bugs with ease. These two also go hand-in-hand (that's why I said all-rounders) because you can use a thylacoleo to get a spino. In water thyla can swim decently (better than most land) and spinohas high o2, so you wouldn't need to surface much and can kill megs.

Triceratops Triceratops are really useful early game, standing as both a goods carrier and a berry gatherer, it gathers enough berries to make sure you dont starve before you have access to steady supplies of cooked meat as well as enough to tame a few more trikes.

There's another couple multi-purpose mounts in my opinion. The Rock Drake which can get decent weight, they can be decent at hunting themselves, and on top of that they are able to let you use weapons off the back of them so they are good at soaking damage while you are shooting things. I have weight drakes, hunting drakes, and war drakes/ Rockwell drakes. The other is the Reaper which can get to decent weight as well and with their bury mechanic they are able to be used as storage creatures they are so good at tanking fights, and they are my hunting creature of choice. ( a friend of mine uses a reaper in their fight on Rag to soak all the rock elementals )

Give the mantis duel sickles! It's a very underrated tool, but INSANE at gathering fiber. Give them to the mantis, 5000 fiber easy. Fiber is easily one of the best resources in the entire game. Don't judge, just my opinion.

It gets tricky to keep multi-purpose dinos with tribe limit because they are almost always trumped by single-purpose dinos. Also, there are few situations outside pvp servers where you're doing a lot of things at once.

how could you not put the equus in this list? Its fast, is a good berry harvester, and the ultimate tamming dino, not only can its kick do tons of torpor but you can use its saddle to make narcotics, you can use a lasso to trap smaller dinos like raptors, and fire wepons from its back. AND then theres the Ankylo, bar far the most useful dino, and easy to tame as they arent fast and easy to kite. Anky can harvest a large aoe for berries, thatch/wood, stone/flint/metal, and has a huge weight reduction on metal

My megatherium died to a compy I recommend using a equus because they can knock out other creatures their fast good on stamina and their saddles have smithys in them or you can ride them without a saddle

Theri is definitely better for berries and wood. Equus are useful because they are great for taming as well as being a mobile chem bench basically. Sadly the quetz is only good for a flying mobile base and the ability to carry stuff for air drops because they argy can carry ankys and is way better for weight with the 50% reduction and their weight upgrades enough that 10k weight is easy
