The only way to discourage the purchase of outrageously pricey bikes is to work hard and be faster than the people that show more ambition with their wallets than they do with their training. Dropping bikes that cost 4x as much will lower the demand for such silliness.

So frustrating that most affordable road bikes these days have a sloped top tube, but I suppose that's to accommodate several different rider heights with one frame. What's happened to Specialized looks over the past few years? The Tarmac & (particulary) the Venge used to be amongst the best looking bikes in the peleton, and now no Venge in sight, and the latest Tarmacs are just plain ugly. And.....as for climbing bikes being as equally efficient as aeros, and vice-versa, surely whichever way you look at it this has been emperor's new clothes and smoke & mirrors- the reality is that it's more cost effective for manufacturers to have a procuction line making just the one model instead of spliiting losses between several - am I the only one thinking this???

@terrancenewton73253 ай бұрын
I think the bike market will continue to do just fine no matter your opinion. I bought a Specialized Sequoia frame in 1982 and built it up from there. I road it over 3,000 miles across the United States; bike weight and rear panniere, front panniere, handlebar bag, back rack with tent, sleeping bag and air mattress was 90 pounds of gear. It served me well. I bought a Specialized Allez in 1990 for about $1,500, a Waterford with Dura-Ace components for a few thousand that I still own. It's a piece of art built by Ignaz Schwinn's grandson Richard Schwinn, a Colnago C-40 for over $6,000 with Campy Record components, an S-Works Roubaix with Dura-Ace components for about $8,000 and I now own a Specialized Creo with SRAM components for almost $11,000. I had about 12,000 miles on the Colnago when I sold it to my best friend who still owns it. I had about 14,000 miles on the Roubaix before I sold it to my best friend's son-in-law. The Creo I have owned for two seasons and I have over 4,000 miles on it. I ride it all the time and it is an absolute dream bike. You can own a Pinto. I'll take a Porsche any day of the week. You do get what you pay for. It's why I am on my 5th Lexus. They are one of the best cars out there with extremely low maintenance or complaints. As far as being crazy, this crazy man joined the military at the tail end of Vietnam when I was 17. When I received my honorable discharge I utilized my GI Bill and went to 6 years of college. I went back for my graduate degree some years later, compliments of my employer. I was a healthcare executive with 34 employees and made really good money. I retired at the age of 57 and have been riding a bike consistently for almost 50 years now. My best riding buddy is 81 years old, a retired JAG officer and he rides thousands of miles every year. He lives in two states and goes to the warmer one in the winter time so he can ride year round. A lot of us crazy people out there. The other day I road 31 miles at 21 mph average speed and a maximum speed of 32 mph. I am close to 70 years old and my heart is in fabulous condition. My wife is a nut too. Crazy huh? LOL

🤣🤣🤣 the bike industry is slowly going under. It has no one to blame but itself absolutely no one but itself. Greedy disgusting corporations and their venture capitalist backers. Venture capitalists now own bike co. A high-end kitchen designer owns trek... specialized is in trouble. There is a massive amount of denial going on within the industry from the manufacturers to the Reps to the mopsy flopsy bike shops. I've worked in the industry now for 7 years, I've heard the conversations on & off the record. I've seen with my own eyes what's happening. The only thing keeping most bike shops afloat is service. More and more shops are going under... you are going to see the big four or five companies become two or three in the next 5 to 10 years. Demand is never coming back. Prices are way out of control. When a mid-level mountain bike is as expensive as a good level dirt bike you know there's a major problem. And road bikes are completely insanely overpriced. But you will ALWAYS have your statists parroting the company line... things are good things are good! Industries on the upswing Industries on the upswing! 🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Buh bye...
