After 3-4 years with a Z300, I'm looking to skip the 650 class and go straight to the Z900 at the end of the year. I had the opportunity of riding one on a racetrack (Interlagos, one of the most fun in the world) and despite being a lot more powerful, I found it manageable. I was also looking for a GSX750S but their prices went to the moon here in Brazil (well, moreso than other bikes) and is now more expensive than the Z900.

I started on a Ducati Scrambler Cafe. The bike just called to me with its looks and after riding a BMW 310R, a Rebel 500, an R3 and then the Ducati I was most comfortable on the Ducati. It was just effortless on starts with the extra torque of the 803, and didn't have the gearing issues of the others where you are pushing 5-6k rpm at 60 in top gear. It was essentially brand new so I have been keeping the RPMs down until the first oil change/service and then I will open it up more as I grow. Instead of starting smaller and getting tired of it.

I agree with most of that. Just really don't like Motojitsu. He too often takes a riding technique for a specific type of bike and presents it as for all bikes. As a current owner of 2 different styles and a regular rider on a 3rd, I know that to be bad advice or even dangerous in some cases. I use different techniques(even opposing techniques), depending on whether I'm riding a supersport, naked, or cruiser. I've been riding for 20 years and have ridden just about every type of bike at least once. After watching a couple of his videos, I quickly questioned his knowledge of riding various types of bikes. I would never generalize riding techniques the way does. But I agree with the rest and their reasons. I would agree that Yammie's videos are usually much more entertaining than the others as well.

Yep, put one for 10 to 20 year old bikes (for many of the 600cc and 1000cc bikes they have fuel injection starting from 2001-2003 depending on brand, and nobody wants to tune multiple carburators, let alone 4 all at once...) I can sometimes find a decent GSX-R or R6 bike in that age bracket for around $1500 to $2k. I don't see the need to spend a whole lot more for not much difference (at least until they start doing carbon fiber frames, but thats not common yet)

Owning the tuono 660 is just more fun on the street than I can really describe. That amount of power and pull down low makes boring traffic or mundane routes seem like an event. I don’t really understand being unable to keep yourself from twisting the throttle all the way on a bigger bike as I had no problem just tooling around on an rrrrr1 (for 5 minutes before I was in a lot of pain) but I don’t need to worry because now it’s rewarding to do that rather than deadly. On a rebel 250 right now, looking at a Ninja 650. Cheap(ish) and they seem readily available in my area. Could probably go for something a little bit better but it's what I've settled on cause I want something with some more power but that will be more manageable than a 600 and especially a 1000. Offers a comfortable riding position which is nice cause I do have some current back issues. I know that the 650 class gets hated on but I think it'll do me well for quite a while.

I went from a hyo 650 to a gsxr 750 and the acceleration difference was hilarious. What you get here is brakes. Omg those brakes will break your man parts until you get the soft touch. Be careful with your new bike guys, you're upgrading everything.

Any chance you could get the numbers right? Duke 890R has a dryweight of 366 Ibs. Says it clear as day on their website. Identical dry weight to the street triple so please... Also i like how you single out honda and give the rear wheel horsepower when for every other manufacturer you give the crank horsepower.

I'm riding a CBR650R (2022) as my first bike, I think I will go for a naked bike 900cc as my second bike. All attention is for MT09. Also, my CBR650R weights 210 KG, which is too much! I want a bike weights below 190kg, light weight --> easy to turn, control.

I am one of those irresponsible idiots who upgraded from a 48hp beginner bike to a 1000cc MT-10. The only reason I am alive is that the MT has drive modes and I started off in "rain mode" all the time, and I was scared enough not to go at the top range of the revs where te power is. The acceleration is absolutely indescribable, I've driven 600hp cars and they don't come close to what a liter bike can do.

If your parents are not facsists, start with a 50cc scooter when you are 12 years old, getting the cash from mowing yards and washing cars, or a faster dirt bike if you have places to ride it legally. When you are 16, take the MSF beginner course and I think buy a 350cc Royal Enfield Meteor, and a cheap used car for bad weather. This bike tops out at about 72 mph, making your still overpriced insurance lower and forcing you to stay off the 70 mph 4-lanes. If you go to college and get a decent job at 22 years old, maybe move up to an MT-07, preferably with upgraded suspension. When your insurance prices drop to less insane at 26 years old, maybe buy a new MT-09 or used 1200cc BMW sport-tourer. Ideally, keep your previous bikes for different uses and more fun, also something to ride if one needs a new battery or new tire.
