A few more: 1. The Cheyy Corvair. With a rear engine and soft springs, it was easy to spin or even roll over. The car leaked Carbon Monoxide into the cabin also. 2. The Tatra T87. This rear-engine Czech saloon has such tricky handling that numerous Nazi SS officers were killed by it. The Nazis banned them from driving it. 3. The Suzuki Samurai (aka Jimmy). A small tall narrow SUV, this car was tippy and easy to roll over. 4. Original VW Bus - This had zero crash protection, poor handling and CO leaks. The under-powered engine and weak brakes didn't help. 5. Any 1960 US pickup with a bed-mounted RV attached. The weight, high center-of -gravity and primitive suspension and steering make these difficult to control and prone to rollovers. 6. The Subaru 360. A tiny rear-engine car with small wheels and tires that had poor handling and traction. Actually, almost any rear engine car, including the Porsche 356, Renault Dauphine and Fiat 500 can be tricky to drive.

I used to own a 1971 Triumph Spitfire, that had an engine upgrade to 1500 instead of 1300. Sadly the previous owner would have done better to spend the money on seatbelts and a roll cage / bar. The back end used to flick out even in dry conditions due to the terrible suspension, and the inadequate headlights and windscreen wipers made driving at night in the rain impossible. Once and only once, I stupidly took it up to 100mph.....Felt like it was going to fall apart. Owned it for about 6 yrs, and it's a bloody miracle that I survived. Reg DKO 334K.

It was "only" the Pinto hatchback that had a tendency to explode & burn when hit from the rear... the wagon version didn't have that problem. Disclaimer: I owned a '75 Pinto wagon... a seriously basic car... it was heavy and somewhat under-powered, even for the "Gasoline Shortage" era. Had the 2.3L with its massive 85 HP output, cast iron block/head engine, manual 4-speed, AM radio only, no power anything... not brakes, not steering, nor windows, seats, whatever. No A/C either. Heavy as a lead sled. But nothing ever broke... maybe because there was nothing to break? And the places I drove that beast... let's just say over the years I forded a few streams, got stuck chassis-deep in mud... that wagon earned the nickname "The Swamp" due to the smell it acquired. In '78 or '79 it even got sealed in a snow drift for two months... finally shoveled my way in, put the key in the ignition, and the beast started right up!

The funniest part about the Pinto is that the fuel tank issue was actually pretty common in similar cars of the time, and it was made using Ford Europe parts, so it was usually pretty reliable. Poor little car, though.

I own a Vectra C from Opel (Vauxhal). Mine was used by the german police(Highway Patrol) and has a 3.0 V6 TDCI pumped up to 300HP. I can easily run from modern cars, but in Corners it starts to slide like crazy when on the gas. Really scary. we immediatly detuned it to 200HP and have the 300 just on the "Sport" Button, which stiffens the Suspension, too. Nobody believes you about that power, which is kinda funny^^ ...yeah my gearbox didn't like that an broke 2 month ago...

@@debillington9239 correct, but if I understood this correctly you're saying that P1 is harder to handle? (or OP said it, you explained it a bit)... - but P1 has it's way with aerodynamics, better chassis, driver aids, smooth power delivery.. handling widowmaker on the other hand... if you crash it you're dead, and how common is it for supercar drivers to die when they crash? Especially nowadays.
@debillington92394 жыл бұрын
@@daniel99651 Crashing the P1? I have one word, and it is ‘batteries’. Also, the P1’s gearing is a bit funny, it has a noticeable transition from short to long ratios, and it goes from wheel spin at a lower speed to spinning in fourth... you can launch the P1 in fifth and lay some rubber

Car that will kill your passengers and probably you to is Audi TT (the mk2 atleast can't say for the newer ones) in the back anyone talked than a 12 year old is guaranteed death by scalping in a flip which is horrifically likely because soon as you hit about 95 the thing starts to feel incredibly unstable. I've had cars at 163mph planted feeling pretty safe still, I never went past 90 in the TT it was that bad
