3 more great free synths are Vital, VK-1 Viking, and Surge. Vital and Surge are just good free synths in general, but Viking is an emulation of the Moog Voyager, and it sounds great
@frankgeppert76982 жыл бұрын
I too love Surge and Vital and checked a lot more, but these 2 cover all your needs.
@AutPen382 жыл бұрын
I think the Viking is actually an emulation of the Moog Voyager, the 2002 remake of the original Minimoog. Those things cost over two grand twenty years ago, so it's amazing that the VK-1 is free. It even comes with a special Synthwave bank of 50 presets on top of the standard 100+ it was launched with. No Synthwave producer should go without it, imo.
@flickeringscreens2 жыл бұрын
@@AutPen38 Yeah, I got that wrong. I looked at the website again a few days before you made this comment, and realized it was the voyager and not the minimoog

The Fury sounds nice, but its GUI is a direct translation of the one from the original Korg synth. That's great for people that had the hardware version with all its buttons, but not ideal for those of us that grew up with a mouse attached to our hands.

Great Video !!! I just stumbled over this and i have to say, software has come a good way. CPU power gets more every year and makes things and emulations much better and better. Even Guitar VSTs get really good actually and can have great sounding guitar as well, that was not the case some years ago.... Me producing this music as well with hardware till last year, i also use software already. And the free tools are a great start and sometimes have very great sounds that go into productions on every electronic genre today. Don´t get afraid of not having "pro equip and expensive software" no matter what you use, if you can make it sound great, that´s in the end what counts. Getting it to sound great in general is like it was in the 80s, all about mastering the mix and dynamics with tools and stuff that was not even designed for things, the guys did with it. I heard even Joe Satriani did record his last record with software and not over is beloved Guitar-Amp Setup all the way. can this be? yea this is possible today even such purist musicians use.... the power of mits and bytes today alllll the way :D.
@OrpheusAudioAcademy Жыл бұрын
Excellent observations. And you're right. My mentor owns his own commercial recording studio, and has been working as an audio engineer and mixer since the late 70s. He doesn't even use amps anymore. It's much better to just record clean, and then you can change the tone later with all the different guitar emulations that exist now. But if you record an amp, then you're locked into that one tone, and you can't really adjust it.
