First of all thank you for taking the time to produce quality content and not just pushing stuff out because you "need" to. It's really to our benefit and I hope it keeps you from getting stressed or burned out, so you keep up your good work. Secondly thanks for introducing us to things that are great free alternatives or work-arounds to more expensive paid plugins. It means a lot to us who are financially struggling but still have an idea they need to express in their creations. Also it's so nice to watch someone who "gets it" when comes to sound design and composition. Often I'll watch someone reviewing a plugin or showing a technique and they'll say something like "I don't know what you would us this for" or "I don't know why you would want to do that", and I wonder why they are even making the video then, while also seeing things I would want to do and wished they explained it better. You see the possibilities and give clear instructions on how to get there. That is rare on KZbin. Again thank you for everything you do.

My favorite free plugins are: TDR Nova - Multiband compressor that sounds amazing on anything. It's de-esser preset is better than _any_ DAW's built in de-esser. Slick EQ - Divine sounding EQ. My go to for boosting low end or adding top end air to vocals. TAL filter - basically "LFO tool" but for free. Rough Rider 3 - a savage compressor meant for drastic, smashed compression. Perfect for parallel compression. Vital - Basically "Serum" but for free.

I thought the voice over in the beginning was one of those automated machine voices until I heard the pauses, and then knew right away it was a real person. Then I thought it was someone that is paid to do voiceovers, but then I saw you and full circle. You certainly have a great voice for any type of voiceover. I would listen to you read books...

I monitor all the free stuff on the net like fucking military radar, but you always find something else I haven't seen before. Recently in DeepEnd you recommended Cardinal to me and I drowned in it. Today I saw a free multi-band distortion... You never cease to amaze me.

The fact you actually show good vst plugins that haven’t been talked about like a billion times, I may not use the but damn I’m always impressed Also will there ever be a tutorial on how to use the modular synth? It seems a bit scary to get into
@Shunnabunich2 жыл бұрын
To be fair, what Cardinal is modelling is a bunch of physical electronic devices out in the real world (where they cost _substantially_ more), and those physical modular synths do have videos made about them. The biggest difference is probably just the physical experience of plugging in cables and twiddling knobs vs. using a mouse or trackpad, so any "introduction to modular synthesis" video out there will give you knowledge that's immediately transferrable to the virtual modular rack in your computer. Basically: yes, it totally does look scary at first because _everything_ is right there all at once, but each module does a relatively simple thing (sometimes to the extreme, where something you'd think of as a simple step requires the involvement of more modules that you might've thought) and you chain them together to generate and shape your sounds.

You can find lots of beginner material into VCV Rack, which Cardinal is based on. The biggest different you'll find is that Cardinal won't have every module from the VCV ecosystem, but most things should translate very well. (And that Cardinal takes audio and/or midi info directly from the DAW)

Yes! Sonosaurus's PaulStretch has the standalone application as well! That was what annoyed me about the Xenakios version where it was VST only. (I know Audacity has the PaulStretch option but the controls are limited)
@GizzyDillespee2 жыл бұрын
the Audacity option is just a tease. I'd like something better...
@DerekPower2 жыл бұрын
@@GizzyDillespee That's why the Sonosaurus option is great as it will give you more controls. In fact, it's going to be updated soon(ish) that allows for live output recording and the return of binaural beats (was in the OG PaulStretch).

Thanks for sharing! The Paul Stretch plugin alone was worth the price of admission! This! - to create great moving interesting ambiences - instead of buying library after library for Kontakt on Audio Plug in Deals or VST Buzz Deals that all have their uses, but in the end kinda sound somewhat similar. Now to create my own... The best part is now we can think musical ideas - then mutate to ambience rather than the other way round... which allows tying in closer to other more standard musical approaches.

Great stuff - thanks! Another way to get audio recorded from some plugins/approaches that might prove tricky, and should work in any DAW, is the free plugin MRecorder from Meldaproduction. Just insert it anywhere in the signal chain where it can intercept the audio to be recorded, and it can record a file from there. I use it a lot to record performances (knob twisting, etc.) that I don't want to automate, etc. It's great and also free.

I love that you base tune your voice so well that if I didn't see you I'd actually think you were some gym bro. This video reminds my that sometimes watching youtube on a 7.1 system is actually worth it. KZbin is very good at butchering audio. I love that people still use MIDI... long live 1983.
