After years of doing it become second nature, but you’re still feel like it sound design is a little bit repetitive but it’s not. It’s just the fact of doing it every single day so you build habits that make you feel like it’s repetitive NDS even after 12 years of sound designing, you still have to fight to make. To make complex base patches.

First of all thank you for taking the time to produce quality content and not just pushing stuff out because you "need" to. It's really to our benefit and I hope it keeps you from getting stressed or burned out, so you keep up your good work. Secondly thanks for introducing us to things that are great free alternatives or work-arounds to more expensive paid plugins. It means a lot to us who are financially struggling but still have an idea they need to express in their creations. Also it's so nice to watch someone who "gets it" when comes to sound design and composition. Often I'll watch someone reviewing a plugin or showing a technique and they'll say something like "I don't know what you would us this for" or "I don't know why you would want to do that", and I wonder why they are even making the video then, while also seeing things I would want to do and wished they explained it better. You see the possibilities and give clear instructions on how to get there. That is rare on KZbin. Again thank you for everything you do.

have you ever covered what your job as a sound designer actually entails? are you making "foley and FX" type sounds to be used along side stock music? are you making music for eg video games, but only using own sounds? do you literally make presets for companies and their synths? would truly love to know what's part of such a job on a daily basis.

I now use most of these in my work flow as not only are they pretty awesome but they're relatively low cpu usage too. The Sixth Sample Deelay and the Audio Modern trio are especially nice; extremely powerful and get used in almost everything i do now, in some way shape of form. Honestly I think it's actually gotten a lot lower. I mean in theory if you have Cakewalk it's already got one of the best mixers I've ever seen. Vital, Surge, Kontakt Player and the free Libraries for it, Reaktor Player and it's free Libraries and blocks and then the stuff from Valhalla, MFreeFX bundle, CHOW plugins, Fire. A lot of what you need in a short package. If you were on the ball a while ago a bunch of Plugin Alliance stuff was also free. Free drops and heavy price cuts seem to be very common now because of Plugin Boutique and Audio Plugins Deals

Great stuff - thanks! Another way to get audio recorded from some plugins/approaches that might prove tricky, and should work in any DAW, is the free plugin MRecorder from Meldaproduction. Just insert it anywhere in the signal chain where it can intercept the audio to be recorded, and it can record a file from there. I use it a lot to record performances (knob twisting, etc.) that I don't want to automate, etc. It's great and also free.

Hi Venus, new fan here. Like others have said, I really appreciate that your content isn’t “trying to Game KZbin”. You’re making videos that you think people genuinely benefit from, and you’re not presenting it in that annoying fake-hype way that others do. Thanks for the video! I’m gonna add these VSTs to my setup. Question: what VST are you using for your keys at the beginning? They sound BEAUTIFUL and I would love to use it myself. Thank you in advance!

Laughed my ass off on Jeremy's "Say please" :) Fantastic plugins, excellent selection! Can you please do a extended version on glitchy plugins and loop/sample manglers - like Glitch2, Turnado, and so on? Also, a selection of your best physical modellers and software drums, or how would you make a drum sounds from noise (seen latest FabFilter videos narrated by Dan Worrall - yes, liek that but for other sounds, not just BD/SD). There, I gave you my preferred list - and thank you thank you thank you so much for your videos, you're a true inspiration and ... you're the best, man - as nobody does it as good as you do!

First time viewer. You did an awesome video. I’d say for free synths there is vital which is a modular synth that you can pay for extra fun stuff for. Cheese machine and tyrell n 6 are excellent free instruments. The cheese machine site also has a free clav that is pretty great. Decidedly has a mad decent sampler with free instruments.

The fact you actually show good vst plugins that haven’t been talked about like a billion times, I may not use the but damn I’m always impressed Also will there ever be a tutorial on how to use the modular synth? It seems a bit scary to get into
@Shunnabunich
@Shunnabunich Жыл бұрын
To be fair, what Cardinal is modelling is a bunch of physical electronic devices out in the real world (where they cost _substantially_ more), and those physical modular synths do have videos made about them. The biggest difference is probably just the physical experience of plugging in cables and twiddling knobs vs. using a mouse or trackpad, so any "introduction to modular synthesis" video out there will give you knowledge that's immediately transferrable to the virtual modular rack in your computer. Basically: yes, it totally does look scary at first because _everything_ is right there all at once, but each module does a relatively simple thing (sometimes to the extreme, where something you'd think of as a simple step requires the involvement of more modules that you might've thought) and you chain them together to generate and shape your sounds.
@nitroanilinmusic
@nitroanilinmusic Жыл бұрын
You can find lots of beginner material into VCV Rack, which Cardinal is based on. The biggest different you'll find is that Cardinal won't have every module from the VCV ecosystem, but most things should translate very well. (And that Cardinal takes audio and/or midi info directly from the DAW)

My favorite free plugins are: TDR Nova - Multiband compressor that sounds amazing on anything. It's de-esser preset is better than _any_ DAW's built in de-esser. Slick EQ - Divine sounding EQ. My go to for boosting low end or adding top end air to vocals. TAL filter - basically "LFO tool" but for free. Rough Rider 3 - a savage compressor meant for drastic, smashed compression. Perfect for parallel compression. Vital - Basically "Serum" but for free.
