Are you planning to add some fragrance to your garden?

I LOVE bagged roses/root roses like these, sometimes you find rare/discontinued roses for under $10.

I agree, they are a great affordable option worth checking out.

I have had Comte de Chambord in my garden for many years and I will warn you that it sucker spreads like crazy. It may take 2-3 years to get established but after that you will have it everywhere in that area. My advice is to cut the bottom out of a large pot leaving at least 8-10 inches of the sides and dig it in around the Comte before he starts to run wild. Also, Comte is a short little guy, he will never be more than about 2 feet high so you did well to put him in that raised area. You will definitely enjoy the fragrance.

I'm so glad that you say that. We have concrete-like clay soil so I have a hard time believing it will be that vigorous but time will tell. Thanks!

@@FumblingwithFlowers my soil is also very heavy clay.

The Bonita Renaissance is my favorite. Fragrance is so subjective. Most are too pungent for me. Although, I do keep a yellow knock out rose just because I love the scent. I’m thankful I put my Miss Kim lilac far from the house. Way too punchy. I do like my variegated Sweet Iris. It’s like breathing in sugar.

II have variegated sweet iris too but I only notice the fragrance if I get really close to it. I wish it bloomed more. The leaves are striking. The first time I smelled lilac as a kid it was wonderful but it was a very humid, hot day and hours later, tired and left alone without water, etc.. the smell became inescapably nauseating. I agree, it's very subjective. I did not know that yellow knock out roses have a scent. That's wonderful!

Where did u purchase DA roses in NJ
@FumblingwithFlowers8 ай бұрын
Almost every local nursery will have a few David Austin roses. If you're in a smallish neighborhood they will probably take a request for spring stock. You can always buy what you want on David Austin's website. Prices are fair plus they guarantee their roses if they die which is very nice. Just be sure to take a picture of the dead rose to show them. They won't credit you without showing that it was dead.

Poor Boscobel did not make the list? 😆
@FumblingwithFlowers9 ай бұрын
I have Boscobel but is not healthy for me, after spring it drops all of its leaves in my no spray garden. I like the fragrance but it had only a medium fragrance for me. It's described as myrrh fragrance but to me it is fruity.

@@FumblingwithFlowers I just received mine. Hoping it does better in GA soil. Btw, I used to live in Jersey City. I don't know how you deal with the winter every year. It was so miserable for me.☺

You can call your local nurseries to see if when they will have the rose you want. Stock is always changing. Online nurseries like David Austin has potted roses for shipment right now.
