That cart factor mod just gave me flash backs to the number of laps I turned in Indycar Racing II way back when - wore out 2 wheels on that game.....gotta get this now if for nothing else for nostalgia reasons. Saw 4 Molson Indy's back in the 90s in Toronto and they still to this day some of the best racing Ive ever seen/heard.

Thanks for turning me on to rFactor with this video. The AI is so much faster than I am used to, it's nice being in 1st place with 2nd just glued to my bumper for ~45 minutes. I'm used to Gran Turismo where I have to be racing cars at least a full league ahead of me to get a semi-competitive race.

I was barely alive when the late 90's early 00's CART's were around and then I'm recommended to watch a race on KZbin and I watched every race from all the seasons from 1996-2003.

I know Indycar isn't the most popular series, but it's the one I've always enjoyed watching most. There have been very few Indy/IRL/CART racing sims in the last 20 years, so I'm glad to see this mod given some love.

I live five miles away from Knockhill! The first track shown in the historic mod, I didn't know it was available in rfactor, Wonderful track full of natural ups and downs. =)

Cart factor.... Nuff said. Always loved racing that mod around Cleveland's Burke lakefront airport. Bumpy as hell, huge power, so many lines to choose. And the cars just look awesome!

Ever heard of the Shift Street mod? For rFactor 1 of course? It's a conversion of most of the cars from NFS Shift and Shift 2, but with new physics, and, oh the physics, they're some of the best physics I've seen in any sim. Really great job done by the guy who did the physics for the mod. Also, there's the F1 Classic forum, you need to register to access it, but they have a special section for addon cars to that mod, most of which having even better quality, both visual and physics, getting the number up to about 500. It's IMHO the best street car mod for rFactor, as well as one of the very best mods for the game.

Objectively speaking, most of these mods deserve to be on the top. DRM revival for its sweet noises and the best depiction of boxy fender flared Gr5 turbos period, CTDP F1 stuff for its maniac levels of quality and attention to detail which is probably unmatched to this day by anyone and will probably be a long time before something like that happens again (quite stoked to see it come to AC even though I suck balls at driving F1 cars) and the Enduracers for just the sheer amount of vehicles to choose from as it has enough variety to satisfy people from all walks of GT racing. :P

The WCP Series Formula E mod that came out last week is incredibly good aswell but Group 5! You can't beat it, those cars are such a beast to drive and so much fun!

As someone who's been playing rFactor for over 4 years and has tried tons of different mods, I clicked on the video thinking I would be disappointed, but I actually love every single mod you named. All of them are on my personal list as well. Seeing you drive on Bryce Canyon also put a smile on my face, it's a shame not many people race on it just because it is a fictional track. Have you tried the Group C Legends mod? IMO it's better than the 1970s Sportscar mod, also has a porsche 962, so there's that!

I would have expanded the list to include F1 '79, F1 '88, F1 '91, and GTPC mod, which imho are mods that deserve attention too. for the rest I agree, these are the best mod on rFactor (maybe with a different order depending on personal tastes, DRM Revival first for sure in my list :))

Cart Factor uses the "Delta Force" theme song in the main menu. That alone won me over.

The SCGT was left as low poly models so you could have 50+ car fields online and still get good frame rates. But it never caught on except for a few leagues. Do try the 1976/1978 Formula atlantic/F2 mod by Dave Sabre The 1973 Lola T340 Formula Ford mod also by Dave Sabre And the Vintage FV mod by Strava Some of the best mods ever. You will be happy that you tried them.

A good selection of mods in my opinion ^^ . I like alot the Historic GT & Touring Cars, and it was the first mod that I tried, in where I had to use the clutch every time I want to change gears, but that's if I have the Auto Clutch disabled. I had a USB Keyboard before April 12th of 2014, when I had to press 4 buttons at the same time to down gears on braking, but after that date previously mentioned, I had to use the keyboard from the Notebook HP 435, when I can only press 3 buttons at the same time when I need 4, after experimenting with the car, I saw that I had to lift the brake button and inmeditalely pressing again to keep braking, but that's helps to complete the experience. Once I install that mod I have to use the clutch in every mod, even in modern F1 cars, to avoid getting stuck in neutral, so I uninstall the mod just to not use the Auto Cluch. Mods like F1 SR 1994, or F1 WCP 1997, witch is not the best mod, but I love that V10 sounds from every car :D . Your driving is also very good, no doubt about it :) miauuu. Sorry, I'm a racing cat :3 hehehe. Great day for you

J-Duvel No matter how historically accurate and complete the rFactor1 mods are, none of them rival even the crappiest rFactor2 mods regarding AI. rFactor2 is a big improvement regarding race experience.

Jimmy X I agree ( i would be mad if rFactor 2 would not have improved on this matter). But some tracks and mods can still be balanced pretty good. (you need to know how to create championships, select the right tracks (AIW files)) It's not like it's unplayable if you would do a championship. But 50% of what's going on on the track during a race is also imo a bit too unrealistic (which makes it hard to react to any of those strange situations that are created by the AI in rFactor1) With other words, it's pretty hard to finish a race without the front and back of my car being totally wrecked. Ah well. Because of this i use rFactor mainly for the longtracks, and do time trials on them. 10 to 25km runs, i do 3 or 4 tries and well look at the time we're allready 2 hours further in time. It's perfect for people who need 2 or 3 hours of relaxzation after intense or boring workday. (like me) Machwerk, Schottenring, Nordschleife, Solitude, Nsuka, Transfagarasam, Peyregrosse and many other longtracks = Epic racing.

I would only add AE86 by gonzo-kool, because it is "the best" regular "touring car mod", and it would make "My TOP8". High5 for mentioning the Trans-Am's (noone believed me when I said they were that good). Are you going to do a Track list too?

Is there a good tutorial somewhere helping people set up the FFB/Steering settings for the G27? It's all so overwhelming, I found a FFB plugin but you need a FFBplugin manager for that and it gets complicated really quickly. You can also only install one major mod at a time?

Empty Box the only thing they forgot is to supply a preconfigured realfeel.ini with the mod. after i got the correct maxforceatsteeringrack numbers for every car through the realfeel console it's the best mod.(imo)

I know Empty Box likes "Beasts" of a car (like DRM, CART, F1s,...) all 600+hp mad cars on slicks, wings and tons of downforce, cause it's a challenge, but sadly with my old wheel (slight deadzone and poor ffb) these cars are pretty much undrivable for me. Specially with the F1 single seater high downforce types there is zero "feel" there is just grip grip grip NO GRIP! oops im dead! So you end up driving cars more by memory than by feel. I like cars that move lean slide you know dance beneath you ( HistoricX is a fine example) so mainly street cars and their slightly modded racing variants. But I can't seem to find many good such mods. So here is my question. Do you know of any complete, good quality, excellent physics mods with such "lesser" slower cars? I'm mainly into touring car racing but am open to new things as well (I even had fun in YugoCup car mod so really open to anything:). Basically I like cars that are worse hehe). I just wish there were more amateur/semi-professional race series mods for rfactor out there. There are numerous endurance mods (that sorta work for me) but seriously how many GT3/GT2 Porsche versions do you need. Give me a front engine RWD BMW 335i(or sth like that), stripped, a cage, bucket seats, 300-some hp and some close racing and I'm a happy bunny:) Any suggestion is much appreciated.

Regarding CSGT WSC1970 I just really, really like to drive the Ferrari 512S around Targa Florio, just like Nino Vaccarella. Ofcourse it's personal taste, but don't forget to mention BMW M1 Series GP2 2011 ver. 2.00 /by F1SR HSO Formula Atlantic 1976 Porsche PCC 2007 /by team-gsmf F1 1971 LE v.1.0 (I really like the variety in designs in this mod and the engineering garage challenge to bring the car safe home) World CS 1976 GTO Pagani Zonda mod Oh now I got started, I better stop now and conclude that I'll miss out tons of good mods for rFactor on my personal list.

I can't wait for DRM Revival to come to Assetto. I think that may be one of the reasons to start to love Assetto. Just once all these high tier mod teams start pushing content and Kunos fix/add physics with the release of car packs. Should be a great transition. DRM, CTDP, teamBB's Super GT, URD's stuff etc. That, and someone do a re tool on all the sounds and replay cams...Someone from Simbin plz help Kunos out T_T.

Hello Empty Box and all his subs. I just bought rfactor, it looked good reminds me of the good old days with the Sports Car GT for PC and Gran prix Legdens. I just are a bit blown away of all the mosd for this game, which should I choose there's so many and and you can fast get it all smashed :) I here the last few years most driven forza series for the Xbox because there's so easy to get to. but now I want to spend some time rfactor. DKsDEVIL Enduracers and Blancpain endurance series are great to run with different classes of cars. You could start with GT2 cars and move up to Prototypes to test your skills.

Empty Box Is there any specific reason why you prefer rF1 for modding then? (instead of GSCe)

***** Because I already have it all setup. (Laugh here but yes.) Because there are more tracks / no need to convert them. Some conversions just don't work "right" - some times a minor issue will pop up that you wouldnt have otherwise. (such as weird dash displays) Playing the mod as the modder intended and designed, remove any potential minor differences in the engine itself however small they are. Because GSCE doesn't support multiclass racing as nicely (in terms of timing and car selection, the rF1 system is much better) No upgrade system in GSCE which is nice for cars that make use of it. The only "advantage" to GSCE IMO is better tracks out of the box. Most of the other things like AI or graphics just comes down to the quality of the track or mod. Tons of GSCE tracks have poor AI, plenty rF1 tracks have GSCE level AI for example.

You need the latest realfeel plugin. It comes as standard with the NSX mod which you should have already. If not then get it and copy the realfeel from there. :)
