These are the top 7 signs of a healthy personality! If you’ve ever taken a personality test, you may be familiar with the big five personality traits. Well, this list is based on more in-depth research of what constitutes a healthy personality centered around levels of given personality traits, many of which link to the big five. And while each person has their own set of characteristics that make them unique from everyone else, there are some common indicators that reveal a healthy personality.
According to research, healthy personality functioning can be characterized by high levels of openness and flexibility of emotional expression, positive emotions, straightforwardness, and low levels on all aspects of neuroticism. This includes low levels of stress, anxiety, depression, and impulsivity.
If you’re wondering what makes a healthy personality and where you measure up, you will enjoy this short, informative video. Who knows, it may even inspire you to improve yourself!

More positive than negative emotions, self acceptance, openness and flexibility of emotional expressions.

By self-acceptance, I think it means for me actually liking myself. I look forward daily for that. Others can help me with that, but they can't do it for me! I am looking forward to totally being my most positive self.

@Kitty Kat No. Accepting yourself is accepting that there are aspects of your personality that are profoundly unlikeable. What you describe is self esteem aka pride.

Both of these comments draw attention to a common toxic aspect that is not only accepted and encourage, but believed to be healthy- toxic positivity. Experiencing negative emotions isn’t toxic, refusing to acknowledge and address them is. You can’t have self acceptance while rejecting parts of yourself. It’s validating and not believing you need to change the “bad”.

It all resonates, 1 or 2 things definitely need some work but overall I feel this way. And I think part of having a healthy personality comes with solitude

I really like the clips, plenty of variety and well joined together. Add in the apt but unobtrusive music and the presenter's clear and upbeat voice and you have a winning formula. My personality does not tick all 7 boxes, but I always feel more happy about myself after Brainy Dose. 👍

One caveat to these categories: EVERY ONE can be the opposite of the ideal, here-- being stressed, but eventually coping, or lashing out, or any other anti-social behavior.... but the difference lies in the PATTERN! IF you continue with the anti-social / narcissistic / lack of empathy behavior, it is MORE of who you are, than the occasional, and random times normal healthy people have a moment. Those people reflect on their actions. It may take time to adjust to those triggers, and if you love yourself enough, you'll change, bit by bit.

Important message for anyone who doesn't find themselves in these listed characteristics above: ❤️ Just because it seems that right now you do not have the healthy personality characteristics, you can still heal, grow and develop. How you were raised, your childhood experiences and personality morphing that happened because of those experiences - those still affect your way of life, the ways in which you think and react today. You can heal. You can, bit by bit, rediscover the pieces of your natural personality in time. You can definitely live a better life. "Your current situation is NOT your final destination" I believe in you. You're valuable, loveable and capable of unbelievable transformation. Keep learning, keep healing, keep growing ❤️

Self esteem is not the belief in your ability to achieve goals, that’s self efficacy. Self esteem is the belief of your innate right to positive regard aka pride.

Number 5 contradicts the rest of the video. Toxic positivity is the rejection and denial of anything otherwise. People with this aren’t open, accepting, or empathetic. Emotions aren’t choices, attitudes are.

sounds great but if you dont know about narcists and narcissm, these behaviors leave you extremely vulnerable to manipulation. because youre a nice decent person that plays by the rules. ..too many dont, see you do, you dont see they dont and its game on..for them..

What percentage of people would this be on average? I don’t know if I know anyone that truly has no issues at all. Don’t think so actually. Sure, on the surface it can be easy to pretend nothing is ever wrong. In this world I think if you’re never depressed you’re either desensitized or some kind of spiritual master that knows everything is all good beyond the appearance of things or something like that.
