I read whereabouts after u recommend and I loved it. It is the 1st book i annoted and I used to send pictures of lines to my friend. She is too convinced to get this book now. I have not read any jhumpa lahiri before ( also I m just a beginner at reading) so after this I m motivated to read more of her

What is this peer pressure to finish these books by the end of this year? Reading should not be a deadline based thing, i don't know why most of the bookstagrammers and youtubers make it a target based output oriented thing. Atleast I don't abide by it. I'm not to tell anyone that how many i have finished. I keep my hobbies very personal unless asked.

@@swathivivek2424 what you're saying is partially practical as life doesn't always go the way we want it to. There can be anything serious which may come in the way of our reading. Sometimes, there's reader's block which is completely normal. Hence we should not make it a deadline based hobby. If it's hobby it can't have a deadline. I would definitely want my mind to take enough time to settle. That's how much of a book lover i am. I don't impose anything forcefully upon me. Even if i read 5 pages daily, enough for me.

Thanks for the video and book recommendations. Reading Books is difficult specially for the starters in this day and age because of our engagement in social media for long hours. Although, personally I started reading very recently about 2 or 3 years, and mostly I read non-fiction. Fiction is not my forte. But still, I have read a little bit of 'Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen' and other fiction books I have with me, but yet to read are 'Middlemarch by George Eliot' and 'A TIME OUTSIDE THIS TIME : A NOVEL by Amitava Kumar.' And my favorite In non-fiction & contemporary, and currently in reading list are :- 'Myth of the Strong Leader by Archie Brown', 'Hitler and India by V. Purandare', 'The Nutmeg's Curse by Amitav Ghosh', 'Ten Lessons for a Post-Pandemic World by Fareed Zakaria' among others.

Zakaria, using simple yet lively language, examines the various aspects of our Life in current time and future which will be affected by the Pandemic, and guides us to help make important decisions. Inequality or Disparity will increase even more. A.I. will be a Top-dog if not God. World is bipolar again, but this time its USA vs China. Zakaria cites examples with powerful and valuable data that, rather than having Strong, Large or Authoritarian govt., we need Transparent and quality governance. He says in the book, 'Humans create cities and Cities make humans. Pandemic will not short-circuit this hardwiring. So, the isolation due to lockdowns might have the opposite effect. Reminding humans of the Age-old insight -- by nature, We are social animals.' He further explains that, 'All advanced countries are now run by a meritocracy. The real conflict is not over any paricular matter or dispute. The issue is Power.' In any society, he argues, power exists in the political, the economic and the cultural arenas. 'All three realms of Western society today are fronts in the new class war.' For many people, "advice from experts" is part of a larger strategy of domination by the new ruling class -- the meritocrats. Read this book rightaway, or atleast add it in your priorities. @@thehellyblog A different view about the Covid-19 Pandemic (Not related to the book above) :- [ Another renowned author said (some time ago) - 'The Pandemic is/ was a Portal'. Remember during the lockdown, with no traffic and no pollution for many days, there was a Nature's reset. Mountain ranges of Himalayas were visible from a city called Jalandhar which is nearly 200 Kms away. A Portal for an alternative World (if we want). But we choose one of the two options which Authorities & Regime leaders decide.]
