Demo’d the Trek Rail 7 this past Sunday (4/5/20). What a pleasure to ride! I’ve got a 12 year old Specialized S-Works Epic carbon (an excellent bike in its time), but its like a Model T compared to this thing. Since I’m 55 and live in the Denver, Colorado area, doing the hills, which are everywhere, on my Specialized was getting kinda old. Set the Rail 7 to Tour mode, and I was up the hills before I could even get tired. Did about 75 minutes total in the demo and with the wind we had, I’d have been wasted riding my old Specialized. With the Rail 7, I could’ve gone another two or three hour’s easily with a huge smile on my face too! No question this bike will get me out on the trails more often and for longer and I’ll be having infinitely more fun!!!! Time to take the plunge and buy this eMountain Bike and let the good times roll! Thanks for your help Rob and I will be using many more of your videos to help me on my odyssey!!!!

Another great edit Rob.Thanks! I'm in the research and test ride phase of going from mtbing to e-mtbing. My current 'top of the list' is the 2020 Kenevo. I've loved your honest content on these. I currently ride a Trek Slash 9.9 (highest end 29er enduro mtb) & I ride mainly enduro type tracks with big hard climbs that are just wearing my 50 yr old body out! The other bike on my list is the Trek Rail. I've yet to see one and am keen to hear/see your thoughts on it (when you can). I'm tall like you (well - 185cm anyway with long arms) & ride XL. The one thing I think the Rail might have missed the mark is that it only has 150mm of rear travel (its essentially the same as a Slash). I think because you're essentailly 'getting a big seated push up the hills, why compromise on the rear travel? It sometimes doesn't fell enough travel for how fast the Slash is! - Kenevo might be 'the one'!! Luckily I have a LBS that has demo Kenevo's & another LBS that will be getting hire Rails.... & most of all I live in Nelson New Zealand - An absolute EPIC place for mtbing (google it if you're curious!). Cheers

Hey Rob, great video. I can’t imagine how many hours you put into this with all the test riding , editing, etc . Thanks for doing it. I bought a 2020 Felt Surplus 50 recently. It’s a hard tail . I saved a bit of money for going hardtail. I mostly do easy float trails and thought it would fit my needs. It’s a great bike with the Shimano e7000 motor. I do wish the motor wouldn’t cut out so abruptly at 18.5mph, but otherwise love it. That being said my next bike will be full suspension. I should have ponyed up the extra cash for the Full suspension version. I’d like to see you test some short travel or value emtbs too. Oliver Read didn’t get to test the 180, but 150 is enough for what I need and do. I rent them out, Cube Acid hybrid ones with 500W batteries. Yes in my opinion the best bang for bike E-mtb on the market. They do have gen4 bosch performance engines. weigh roughly 22-23 kg and cost less then half of the video's cheapest option. Obviously hard tail (€ 2099,- msrp) The simple reliable 9-speed deore drivetrains just work fine with the powerful engine. You don't need massive gear range on an E-Mtb. Heck i'd go as far as it's just a waste of money on overpriced casettes with electric bikes. (absolutely not the case without pedal assistance)

If you haven't looked into them frey bikes offer more power and are reasonably specked bikes at literally half the price of the Flyon. Iv'e never ridden one but i do have an ebike with the same motor, the Bafang g510 motor (m620) only mine is boosted to 2000 watts and 180nm of torque..They are proven strong and reliable motors. The good thing about them is they are fast and fun up down or sideways..

Hi Rob, nice Reviews. I have the choise between Focus Jam2 6.6 (Shimano) for 3600€ Jam 6.7 with the louder (i think) motor for 3800€ Turbo Levo FSR (Entry Level) for 4300€ I cannot test the bike in the current situation. Can you give me your choise or a tip? Please.

Thanks Rob, I appreciate your input. I'm leaning towards the Levo. Do you think I should wait until 2021? Due to another improvement? Or just get the 2020?
@benriding86784 жыл бұрын
Maybe, I bought a 2018 Turbo Levo Expert with the 500ha battery & the next month Specialized came out with the 700ha battery. So I can't ride with others that have the 700ha. I have to manage my battery by riding in Eco & Trail & they ride the entire time in Turbo mode & they're just gone! Wish I would have waited!

Hi! There´s a lot of grief about the Brose mag S motor and it´s beltdrive failure. I read a lot about this in different e-mtb forums. It´s a shame because I was very much looking to buy a Levo. Now there are those who says that Specialized finally have found the solution for this, do you know if that is true? And is there a way to check a bike to see if it has a fixed motor? I am tempted to buy one of the many Levos who are advertised and the seller oftes says that the bike has a new motor. In sweden it does not seem like the warranty for the bike follows over to the second owner. I fear that the lure of a second hand Levo will cost me more than I anticipate. What are your thought on this?

Hi Robin, I am your follower who writes you from Italy. I wanted to know if you have seen or tried the BULLS SONIC EN2 2020 and what you think. I intend to buy an Enduro Mtb with Bosch motor from around € 5000 and I would like a tip between Radon Render 9.0 and Bulls Sonic EN2. Good day

interesting video. But i think that your list is lacking the latest Lapierre bike, as used by N.Vouilloz in competitions, with it's special battery placement.

What gets me with all these new bikes are the 1x systems and the no spacers on the forks, been to a few of my local bike shops can't get a test ride anymore, so I said what have I got to do spend 5k on a bike without riding it then when get it if I'm not happy can't send it back coz I've ridden it I'm stuck as I'm very unsure about buying something I haven't tested for fit. I'm coming from a 26in wheel hatdtail mtm with triple xtr crank for over taking the lazy road rider it's seems impossible to find a bike to do everything nowadays need 3 bike the 3 type of riding I do help!
