These are not shipping routes, but shipping chokepoints (except of the Great Lakes); There is a huge difference between a route (connecting A and B) and a chokepoint (critical point / passage on a route).

What about Strait of Gibraltar? St. Lawrence Seaways in not that important as it's closed 3-4 months a year (winter). And for the cargo shipped, containers are a big part of it, specially through Malacca strait, Panama Canal and the Suez Canal. But an interesting subject nonetheless.

Sri Lanka is also a main shipping route in Indian Ocean

But who actually benefits from the Malacca passageway? Indonesia, Malaysia or Singapore?
@forthesakeofcuriosity92703 жыл бұрын
Considering that China is willing to help cover the costs along with the Thai government to possibly cut a canal through the Isthmus of Kra to help cut down on shipping times and cost, I think Singapore wins.

Thanks to International passageway, Singapore gonna benefits most of it despite the smallest country. Beside, both Malaysian and Indonesian have 'questionable' with their authorities and I'm myself Malaysian. So most of shipping company prefer Singapore's port despite have to pay more just for sake of security

Singapore and Malaysia benefit the Malacca Strait. By right Indonesian should construc New strategic Shipping Port near Batam Island and bridge connect main Island Sumatra and Jawa.

3:35 "Links the Black Sea to the Marmara Sea and ultimately to the Atlantic Ocean.." All while in that exact map that you uses, it shows that it goes to the Aegian Sea first lol the soon you leave the Bosphorus. Man how on Earth are you talking about shipping routes and geography when you can't even read your own map??
