i hate when the judges forget that it's not about them and butt into the performance by acting overly dramatic, by singing along, by getting another 15 minutes of fame by running up to the stage...that purple clad mess who did a duet with the contestant...nope! no no no nope! (i don't care if purple mess previously recorded/released the song!)

Could you give a little info about which past performances you've most enjoyed? (My own taste in music is wildly eclectic --- rock, country, blues, folk, pop, etc. --- but a singer's commitment to a song, connection to the music, and vocal ability are paramount.)

@@ChollaRanch It's the dull voices that would keep me in my chair.. There is just nothing interesting about them - generic cruise ship or bar lounge material. For singers that would make you sit up and listen, I suggest Floor Jansen or Aurora. They are current singers with actual character.

@@donepearce I'm likewise quite partial to Nightwish! And while I do think Miss Aksnes is a fine singer, her music seems so self-absorbed that I simply cannot relate to it. (But then, neither can I abide Adele, meaning that my judgement often fails to meet the norm. LOL) I'll watch for your future comments on this channel and truly appreciate your insight.

@@ChollaRanch I know what you mean about Aurora being self-absorbed, but I think that is just the way she is. My reasons for liking both hers and Floor's music is are to do with the depth and breadth they bring. Both are total masters of dynamics and are fully in command of their vowel sounds all the time, and they will play games with them. In Aurora's case manipulation of consonants is also very important. American women singers seem to have a single tone - nasal whine. Adele? A poor man's Alison Moyet - sorry Adele fans.
