When figuring out the weight of something when its size is increased, I always thought you cubed the factor that it grew by. For instance, if we had a cube that was 1x1x1, and we doubled just one side of it so it was 2x1x1, it would weigh twice as much since we now have 2 1x1x1 cubes that have been joined together. If you double all 3 dimensions then it weighs 2x2x2 or 8 times as much. So increasing a scorpion's size by a factor of 5 would cause it to weigh 5x5x5=125 times as much. That makes the growth spell all the more impressive 😉

Except scientists did not "discover" Scott Kelly traveled 5 milliseconds into the future, they knew that was going to happen long before he went up there. Also, it's pretty much impossible to detect the difference between two twins 5 milliseconds apart, so even if they didn't know he would be traveling 5 milliseconds into the future, they couldn't "discover" it happened just by looking at his body. 5:35 Increasing the size of something doesn't correlate to an increase in mass by the same factor. For example: A cube which is 1x1x1 cm in size, has a volume of 1cm cubed and weighs 1 gramm. We increase said cubes size by five times it's original size. -> A cube which is 5x5x5 cm in size, has a volume of 125 cm cubed and weighs 125 gramms. Ok so for the final one I do agree that it is literally impossible to travel back in time. However there are theories in quantum mechanics that we can travel back in time (that or parallel universes). Rotating black holes actually have a property that makes time actually reverse inside them. The fact of the matter is that you can travel back in time before your atoms tear apart so it is possible however you will never survive it unless the blackhole is about the size of the blackhole at the center of the galaxy. And the thing is that these blackholes must be rotating at a tremendous amount of speed as well. But of course it does not match up with general relativity because quantum physics and general relativity hate each other. TLDR: It might be possible to time travel back in time so I do think that the second spell is better than the first.

Theoretically, apperation, and other "light speed" breaking spells could just be connected via wormholes, and thus not break any laws. However, this does not make them any less "impossible" for muggles to do, since opening and especially maintaining wormholes being open takes an ungodly amount of energy to pull off. Engorgio is actually super easy. How do you create matter? Wait. Boom, an uncountable amount of particles have flickered into existence. So is diminuendo. Just attoseconds after the particles appear, they flicker right back out of existence because anti-particles of the opposite mass came into existence with them before coming back together, zeroing out and disappearing. In fact, Hawking radiation occurs because of particles and anti-particles appearing near black holes and, before they can come back together and zero out, the antiparticle gets sucked in an zeros out and infinitesimal amount of the black hole’s mass and the particle zooms off elsewhere and now we’ve got an extra particle. Either way, if one of those antiparticle hits what you want to be smaller, it gets infinitesimally smaller.

There's a big misconception about time travel in Harry Potter. The Time Turner doesn't allow you to change the past. You can understand this Just by reading the third book. All the actions that Harry and Hermione make in the past (or, to be more precise, the effects of their actions) were already described in previous chapters. Those actions were meant to happen because they'd already happened. They didn't travel in time to save Sirius, Sirius had already been saved when they activated the Time Turner, they traveled back in time to allow the correct course of events (that eventually lead to Sirius been saved) to happen. I probably explained this really poorly, English isn't my First language, please understand

Here's my thing about spells in Harry Potter. What makes one "good" at magic? Is it like a Jedi midichlorians thing? Is it a dbz style "power level"? If I cast a thing and you cast the same thing is one "better"? Or is it more the pronunciation of the words that strengthen the effect? I ask because that determines how useful and powerful these can be too. If there's any variation based off some factors like these things then the universe is broken because some Chad Uber wizard can come along eventually and do whatever they want.

The way the series depicts it is like a skill. Some people can have a natural proclivity due to their nature just like with any skill, but ultimately practice, experience, and knowledge are the greatest factors in honing it as a craft. Harry's most useful spells throughout the series were the ones he practiced using more and/or understood better. Even ones he struggled with at first, as long as he spent a lot of time mastering them, they became a reliable spell throughout the rest of the series. Hermione is noted as being one of the most dangerous and skilled spellcasters due to her dedication to studying, understanding, and practicing magic, and the only thing she lacked in the beginning was experience with practical application in the field. Neville starts the series being so bad that people view him as practically being a squib even though he's a pure blood wizard, but when he gets hands on training from Harry and Hermione in the DA he shows that he can master spells with enough practice and understanding, and he also shows that confidence plays a major part as well, which is also more related to skill than something inherent. On top of that, genetics don't seem to make a difference since muggle born children can easily be just as good or better than pure born children as long as they get an equal education. What likely made someone like Voldemort extra dangerous is that he was willing to put time and energy into studying and mastering all the dangerous taboo, forbidden, and illegal spells, which most wizards would have no experience with. And even wizards that did have some experience with them through legal means, like aurors, would only have started working with them at an older age once they got into that line of work. Someone who has been using them from a young age would be far better at fighting with them and their followers would follow suit. Dumbledore and Harry both realized the importance of teaching the students how to fight and defend themselves on the same kind of level, hence the use of in-depth defence against the dark arts classes and Dumbledore's Army. You do seemingly need to have the ability to use magic in the first place, but once you have that, what seems to matter more than anything is practice and knowledge/understanding, not an inherent gift or magical capacity.

I would argue that a number of these don't take into account that magic is using something as fuel, whether that is equivalent to mana or whatever. This means that this fuel is consumed as energy to change the size of an object, or to levitate an object (not cancel gravity, more like act as a jetpack). Similarly this is used to fuel a process that bends the space time, making something like the extension charm more plausible. This means that the law of conservation of energy is not broken. Can't explain the time travel though.

The bug being 5 times the size wouldn't be 5 times the weight. Assuming the density stays the same. Doubling an object's size increases its weight 8 times (there's some fancy name for it) so the bug would be approx 40 times as heavy. Quite possibly the most bizarre nitpick in a video about Harry Potter but also the only thing definitively wrong
