You should leave your Apple TV on SDR and turn Match Content and Match Frame Rate on which will play movies, tv show etc. in the correct format as long as your tv supports it . Because you have Dolby Vision on i can see your Home Screen icons are washed out and your settings menu have an Orange shade . If you keep it in SDR you will notice a big difference in you Home Screen icons, they will have vibrant and popping colors as will other areas of your Apple TV. Also set Chroma to the highest 4:4:4 or 4:2:2 this depends on the speed of your HDMI Cable, you get 4:4:4 if you have a very high speed HDMI Cable.

I just posted the same before I read this. To to add, non Dolby Vision content will look better with frame rate and content matched vs being displayed in Dolby Vision. Watching SDR content in Dolby Vision is almost similar to those that always have their TVs set to Vivid thinking the picture looks better when it actually looks awful

You should never have it set to Dolby Vision HDR. Best picture for all APPs is 4K SDR with frame rate and dynamic range set to match for both. The Apple TV will still switch to Dolby Vision for content shown in Dolby Vision and HDR for content shown in HDR. By setting it to Dolby like you suggested, everything will always be converted to Dobly resulting in a worse picture for SDR and non Dolby HDR content

What u say holds good only for mid range and budget tvs on high end oled tvs like lg c1 dolby vision makes picture so much better
