Philip Banda I agree for official identifying by government, that is what it should be but Black in SA means owning a whole lot more than an African identity. You’d be hard pressed to find a Black SAn who wants to drop the Black identifier, its ingrained to be proudly Black due to history. Had a whole Black Consciousness Movement of Stephen Bantu Biko so Black SAns like the identifier of being Black, it’s revolutionary to them but African to them at least from my observation, is cultural and what their indigene is, not their total identifier within SA racial construct. Remember SA is racially constructed. Having said this though, when you hear a person identified as African in SA context, you know they are meaning Black SAn(fir immigrant Africans into SA, usually just name the country they are from eg Zimbabwean, Somali, Kenyan) When it’s white, it’s white SAn, for Indians, it’s Indian or Indian SAn, for Coloured it’s always Coloured woth no qualifier...we know they are SAn because nowhere else does a group of mixed race ppl officially identify in millions as Coloured racially. Yeah I know few other Southern African countries have ppl who like to call themselves Coloured but culturally & racial mix often nothing like Coloured ppl of SA& Namibia(they are similar). I guess what I’m saying is Black ppl in SA are probably fine being Black first and foremost & might not be ok just being African only but this is up for discussion so it’d be interesting to hear Black SA views on it. Agree with you on the sense that other races especially white & Indian do get qualifiers and they generally do already as I explained.

Rise Venda, rise! Ndi tshifhinga tshau sumbedza vhathu mavhala ashu/It's time to show the people our colours. I love how Pretty and Mushudu are raising their beautiful girls which is in a Venda way wrapped intelligently in the Western way. Looking at how the little girl (Oritonda) passed the popcorn to the presenter without even have to think whether she must do it or not is exactly how Vendas are. They are givers and free spirits. Majority of the Vendas don't just talk about God, they "be god." Meaning that they act their beliefs not just narrate it. I love Vendas because of their development and evolution.

Global Entertainers They have good brains. Venda itself is very beautiful. Those people are self sufficient. You find old grannies owning houses they built with their own government old pension money. UNLIKE majority of USELESS young or activity people who wants everything from the government. I know men who were just messengers here in Johannesburg but if you visit them in Venda, you end up covered with shame because they are kings who lives in their beautiful palaces. The first Venda president, PR Mphephu did a good job to the Vendas. They are so educated, smart, and they have beautiful homes.
