Duke Kahanamoku, a Native Hawaiian, was an Olympic champion swimmer and actor. He won three gold and two silver medals between 1912 and 1924. He also had a clothing line of high quality alohawear. PS, _Yes, those were pineapples and not coconuts. And thank's for the overview. Very informative and helpful. I have about 200 shirts, almost all made in Hawai'i, so it's aways good to learn more. The label for the Linn's shirt included TH for Territory of Hawai'i, so desirable because of its vintage. Geat upscale Hawaiian-made brands include Sig Zane and Manuhealii.

The long sleeve Haw'n shirts were very popular from the 40's thru the 70's, especially with Hawaiian club bands performing in the resort hotel. It was considered formal Hawaiian wear and you would expect to see them worn at weddings and other celebrations.

Hi Kat, Anything you find by Shag, pick it up. He is a very famous artist in tiki culture. He is based in Palm Springs, and has his studio and store there. I'm a tiki lover. Been a Tiki culture lover for many years. You should do a research video on tiki mugs. A new reseller I discovered a couple weeks ago, sells mostly men's clothing. He says the prints that cover the entire shirt are called "All-Over-Prints or in short AOP. He's a very savvy, and smart guy. His channel is called Thrift A Life. I learned this tip in his newest video that dropped today. This was awesome and a feast for my eyes! Thank you! Lisa

Down here in South Florida there are a ton of Hawaiian shirts. I have a bunch in my death pile. Thanks to your video I'm going to work on them this week! I know for sure I have some 50's and 60's vintage ones in there, maybe even some 40's, who knows. Maybe I've got a few winners for sure. We have so many seniors who die and the family just donates to Goodwill and the other thrift stores so these shirts are not that hard to find. The thrifts are pricing them up lately though I see but with these prices I can see why! I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for more from now on once I get all mine listed. Thanks. Don’t forget to look for Jams World. Many people collect these clothes. Their patterns are statement pieces. I love them. Some of their vintage clothes sell for 400$. I love all of my clothes I have bought from them. They are very distinct and easy to spot.

I love anything tropical and Hawaii is a favorite. Surprised there were not any Magnum PI Vintage in there. The original Magnum shirts were very popular. There was an all Hawaiian clothing store in Daytona Beach that specialized in Magnum shirts until sometime in the mid 2000s. Enjoyed this one alot.

Chinaird (?) was the precursor to Black Diamond and was named after the owner, Yvon Chounaird who also founded and is still involved in the running of Patagoinia. Anything Chounaird brand is collectable but 99% of it is climbing gear. I'm SHOCKED to see that shirt and not surprised it sold for that much. Its very rare.

I just found me Wed, (yesterday) a vibrant bright Made in Hawaii MuMu for $5.99 size 14 still on the rack that had come out earlier that day. It has very little wear to it and the tag is not faded at all. When I checked out the gal told me she almost took it to the back to go to the bins because she thought no one would want it. In other words, she did not like it at all which I told her I was glad cause then she did not buy it. I found one somewhat similar but the tag is very faded for $150.00. I'm gonna list mine on auction. I have to go thru all of my mens shirts in my death piles because I know I have some silk Tommy Bahama that are tropical and they are like brand new. I only buy Tommy Bahama if it is silk and in mink condition and not marked up. Thanks again for such a wonderful video!!!

My Dad wore these shirts so it's easy for me to spot the styles of his era. He would be 95 today so anything he would have worn would be from the 50's and 60's. It pays to have had lived with a collector. Wish we had kept all his shirts! LOL

Ralph Lauren was born in 1939😂. It would have been a tough task to design that shirt in the 1940s or 1950s. He started making ties in the 60s. He started designing shirts and pants in the 1972. The tag says established 1993. Haha!! I wonder if he got a return?

The name 'Hilo Hattie' is pronounced "HEE LOW", just like the city. Not "High-low". She was a popular entertainer in the 40's and 50's and had a chain of Hawaiian merchandise stores even as far as Las Vegas. Some clothes were produced in men's, women's and children's sizes all the same print. That way we could tell from across the street that they were tourists!. I have many shirts and a few dresses of this brand, love them.

The chances of me finding a Prada are slim. Are these auction? It would never occur to me to list so high. I lived in Hawaii in the 60-70’s and loved seeing the vintage shirts. I actually have a vintage men’s Hawaiian shirt that I can’t find it anywhere! I have found some of the brand but they are not the cool design I have. What do you do in that case to sell it? What dollar amount should I go with?

You can price where you're happy or if you want start with the lowest you'll take and do an auction if the brand sells well

Most were buy it now and for me I search by brand and sort sold by highest first to see similar ones

Yeah a lot of people take month long vacations and we have done a week, but I choose not to do many. You can still accept sales if you're gone up to 14 days.
