Jeez, all these people thinking the character (Riggs), a cop, ingested cocaine and that's what made him act crazy. Nope. He shielded what he was doing with his left hand while he did a sleight of hand and DIDN'T ingest it. A technique he would have adopted if he spent any time at all in the Narcotics department. If he had ingested any of it any arrest arising from this encounter would be tainted as him being under the influence. You should do the jumper and Riggs and Murtaugh's argument aftewards scenes.

I actually picked up on that when I watched it for the first time in London, I used to watch the 3 stooges, laurel and hardy and others when I was growing up, didn't start watching till around the late 70s and most of 80s

Not advising a person of their rights is not a free pass. The rights attach when a person is detained regardless of 'reading them their rights.' Is what happens after being detained that matters. In this case, 3 dead assaulting an officer and one assaulting an officer in front of other cops. So bye-bye drug dealer.
