The 12th completed state is considered a home state. Ex: If your son/daughter is completed 12th in tamilnadu then Tamilnadu is home state and other than tamilnadu consider Open state

JEE Mains will be conducted in January and April. JEE advanced is on May. For Deemed Universities, like BITS, VIT, AMRITA, SRM, Manipal they conduct sessions 2 times mostly in April - May time frame.

Cbse has application based more than rote learning comparatively to matriculation students. Therefore, on an average its slightly easier for CBSE students to crack JEE and other such entrances where you'd have to apply those concepts that you've learnt so far rather than memorizing facts. The main point here is comparatively and cannot be said entirely for any board. Cracking an entrance exam requires intense determination by the plea not by his board
