This is the best explanation, I have found and using a provisional cast on you avoid a tight line around the neck. Thank you so much x

Thanks for this video! I followed your prov cast on video, but instead of knitting/purling the first and second row I went straight into ribbing. I don't have the purl bumps that you got, I beleive because I did ribbing. Is that correct and if so any adivce? Much appreciated!

Why have I ever bothered to place all my provisionally held sts onto a spare needle and then do the k2tog? This is brilliant, thank you Andrea!

Hi! For your second stitch, you mean knit them together not purl them, right?

That’s what I was thinking, knit 2 thenpurl 2

Andrea, when you do a provisional cast on for a folded collar in 1 x 1 rib, do you still add that extra stitch on the crochet cast on and then decrease it out?

So, a quick question: how do you make a v-neck version of this lovely method?
@dreareneeknits2 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I am not sure about that!

Hi! Great tutorial! Can this technique be used for a tuque also? My daughter likes her tuque folded up so I’m wondering if I could do this on the Quill tuque. Thanks! Meagen 🙂

I love that you don't undo the provisional strand before you pick up the stitches because I have a lot of stitches in fine yarn and it's nerve wracking. Great method.

This looks super easy but I tried it and ended up with three extra stitches and nowhere to put them. LOL!! I love your videos, but I think I messed up somewhere. I tinked it and will start over, with better lighting!

Since this was so recent I'm replying. How did you get on? I've just cast on and done first two rows of knitting. I'm doing the Embrace Octopus (pattern on Ravelry) jumper but very much changed the pattern. I'm doing top down in aran weight with a folded k1, p1 neck opening. First time doing provisional cast on and ladderback.

@@betty321 hi! The second time I did it it worked out fine, except I was short a stitch which seemed odd, but I couldn’t find a dropped stitch so I did a M1 on the next round and carried on. Hope it works for you!
