Another really clear tutorial. Would you always use a provisional cast on if you weren’t knitting from the top of your neck like you do with some of the cowl neck jumpers? I’ve used them before and liked knitting with them but got persuaded from other articles to return to picking up stitches for a raglan

I think provisional cast-on can be used for any top down sweater/pullover - raglan or not. It allows to make corrections if the neck opening is too big or too small. You can always unravel a round if it’s too small or add 1-2 rounds with a smaller needle if the opening is too big. Chain bind-off is a very secure way to reinforce the neck opening, to prevent it from stretching. BTW, in my top down sweaters I emphasized the idea of reinforcing the neck opening. But instead of doing chain bind-off at the neck and picking up the stitches for the turtleneck, l do chain bind-off at the end of the turtleneck and then pick up the body stitches. Either way, there is a chain bind off to secure the neck opening from stretching.
