Hey there! I would love to see an updated video on this topic now that there are new options like the nifty case, Erica synth travel cases and the behringer go. Thinking about getting a bigger case and a comparison video would be helpful and appreciated

What a great video. I've been shopping PCA for a while now and it's nice to be able to put a face to this great store.

Cool. I am starting with Tiptop Happy ending because I standardize to audio racks. Thanks for mentioning that valueable option.

Just got an Intellijel case. The power supply is so good it fixed noise issues with some digital modules I didn't know I could resolve. The whole thing is just solid and wonderful and best of all NO SLIDING NUTS. Get yourself an Intellijel case and some Befaco Knurlies for screws. You can't do better (unless you're a sliding nut pleb).

And no mention of Doepfer cases??? Probably the most popular and cost effective cases around.
@slipknotboy5556 жыл бұрын
N Most cost effective? Not really, to be fair. Don't get me wrong, I get where you're coming from, but they're not really the cheapest cases around when compared to other similar ones (Edit: and in terms of value, I mean. They're not too bad, though)

I like the Intellijel 7U and Make Noise cases the best. Unfortunately both are sold out. So waiting on supplies to arrive before worry about getting into Eurorack. It is more fun and cheaper to buy case and modules than to spend 5k on modules from one vendor like Make Noise or Doepfer.

Trogotronic's cases are some of the most sturdy cases out there, and the price per hp is quite good.

i'm using mantis. great cost benefit, plenty of power jacks and the 3 positions is handy.
@VictorSteiner6 жыл бұрын
I think I will go for that too but those nice 1Us on the Intellijel case that make it so easy to interface with audio and midi ... hmmm ...
@samaBR3336 жыл бұрын
I was that undecided too, BUT, the 1U row on the Intellijel case just fit Intellijel modules. It seems that any 1U row only accept the same brand modules. WTF?!
@VictorSteiner6 жыл бұрын
Samuel Costa yes but stuff like the audio in and out seems so practical. How do you solve audio in and out? I was also thinking about how to have one audio out for the Behringer Model D and the Mother-32. what is a good way with the Mantis?

Samuel Costa nice rack! I also want the maths. The modules don‘t come with the short cables that connect to the case, right? Who h ones to buy?
@sklgy6 жыл бұрын
Lovely cases, but all pretty expensive if you ask me. I bought a briefcase from the thrift store and build a wooden frame to fit in it, now I have a modular briefcase with 140hp that costs around the $100 with a power module like the uzeus.

It seems there would be a bigger market for cases?! I don't think most premade options are really 'nice' and especially often quite expensive ... While I built my own 9U x 104HP rack... Total cost ca. 150eu w/o power ofc.

I already have outgrown my happy ending kit and would like to get the 7u intellijel case, but I don’t know which width to go with. I’d like more room for modules but is the extra width a hassle?
@PerfectCircuit5 жыл бұрын
The 104HP case is only about 4 inches wider than the 84HP case, so it doesn't feel much larger when carrying it around.
@n1cholas.w5 жыл бұрын
When you put it that way that makes the choice easier. Appreciate it!

Is it in any way portable to gigs or is it just TOO MUCH CASE? :)
@colinbrash6 жыл бұрын
No love for Trogotronic cases apparently. I have multiple and I’m super happy with mine. Rugged and powerful. I have a Mantis as well, but TBH the Mantis build quality is kind of crap and I have trouble fitting a lot of modules in without pushing and pulling the case to make them fit. I keep ending up using the Trogotronic cases instead.
@PerfectCircuit6 жыл бұрын
The Trogotronic M168 is a great case, the only reason it wasn't in this list is because we liked the Intellijel performance case just a little bit more for the portable case category. The Mantis made the list because it is just a really good price for 2 rows of 104hp.
@colinbrash6 жыл бұрын
Perfect Circuit Audio yeah to each their own. I love my Trogotronics (got one from you!), but hey, Andrew Huang loves the Mantis so who am I to complain haha!

I would include the Doepfer 3 x 168hp case for performance. It’s hard to believe but for a while I was performing with three Mantis cases and a double RackBrute. Why? I put all my money into modules initially and went cheap on cases. This was a mistake. I’m not suggesting you buy a $1,200 case on day one but upgrade to a true touring case before you start expanding with multiple Mantis cases like I did. One last suggestion unrelated to cases is OUTPUT. Don’t buy a bunch of great modules and then output them through three chained MixZ mixers. The mix will sound horrible. You need the ability to add space in your mix and especially the ability to sidechain bass elements. I insist that you purchase a Hexinverter Hot Glue Compressor/Mixer on day one. It provides plenty of attenuation or headroom, whatever the case may be, and the most analog sounding output. This isn’t a solicitation for followers but there is a wonderful group of modular enthusiasts on Twitter. Come join our family. I’m @FallingDj and would love to introduce you to the group. Perfect Circuit is AWESOME . . my Christmas wish is that they STOP SHIPPING w/ signature confirmation. Otherwise they are the BEST.
