When I saw this video pop up, I was pretty sure the P239 would be on this list. I am glad it still gets some love. I have a P239 DAK in 9mm that I bought used as my first handgun in 2012. I've seen it at pawn shops for $150-200 more than I paid for it almost 10 years ago and had several guys at a local shop/range admiring it. The P239 isn't my EDC anymore, but it is definitely a good, enjoyable shooter that many folks who don't automatically gravitate to striker fired guns really appreciate.

@@Rick-xt2cz The big problem with "Polymerizing" the Cheetah's frame, would be the same issues they have with the FS 92 design. The external trigger bar on pistols like the Cheetah and FS92 makes it extremely challenging as that trigger bar would be rubbing on the Polymer frame, giving you a very unpleasant trigger. The Beretta 9000S is the result of that attempt, weird AF and a damn wide frame.

Smith and Wesson Gen 3 pistols have probably the best factory SA/DA trigger of any semi-auto ever. The super-short reset was from the factory, no need for addition gunsmithing or specialty kits costing additional $$$. The aluminum frame versions are only slightly heavier than the polymer crap that's out there today. The perfect blend of machining, aesthetics and functionality.

The Remington XP100 was a cool pistol that is now discontinued. Would love to get my hands on one. I inherited a Colt Huntsman (Woodsman variant) that's probably as old as I am. I owned an original P225 and loved it but sold it when I got a P228. When you compare the two, they are almost the same size, weight and thickness but you get 15 rounds in the 228. I never really understood the 239 when the 225 filled that niche. I guess it added more calibers.

Ruger P series. I have a 20 yo P89 and 12 yo P95. THOUSANDS of rounds through them, and never a problem. Any FTAnything I had was directly related to ammo problems. They just go bang every time the trigger is pulled. If I were offered another 89 or 95 for $450 or a comparable Glock for free, I'd buy the Ruger, every time.

As far as I know, the Antistress system is more about the longer trigger pull before the first shot (but not as heavy as double action). by the way The p99 is currently somewhat infamous in Poland because there were some cases of the striker being launched into the eye of the user, probably because of the damage of the slide done by dry firing during maintenance.

I’m with you on the Hudson H9. I believe the company who milled Hudson’s slides for them ended up buying all of Hudson’s left over parts and data packages and still services Hudson H9 owners’ pistols if and when they need serious maintenance and repair work. If that is, in fact, true I would still be willing to buy one if I saw one in decent condition and for sale at a half way decent price (>$1000)

I agree on the Walther P99, probably one of the best striker fired guns made in my opinion. My 5 other handgun picks to bring back: Walther P88 series HK P7 series S&W 3900/5900 series Walther P5 series Webley & Scott top-break revolvers.

The problem I had with the P99, is even the slightest rearward movement of the slide (i.e. holstering) put it into single action mode. It defeated the advantage of being a DA/SA.
@ericmckinley7985
@ericmckinley7985 3 жыл бұрын
Put your thumb on the back of the slide. Plus, that doesn't sound like proper holstering. They are sprung pretty hard that is something you shouldn't be able to do without trying. Lastly, even if it is in single, its the AS mode with a long takeup
@ultrafuel2559
@ultrafuel2559 3 жыл бұрын
@@ericmckinley7985 I know, but I'm talking 1/16 to an 1/8 of an inch movement to cock the gun. I can see that kind of movement happening in a holster. Not a safe setup compared to hammer fired DA/SA.

I think YM on his #2 pick is talking about the Canik TP9SA, which I thought was kind of dumb. The Canik to have if you want a P99AS is the Canik TP9v2 which is now called the TP9DA.

Sig p239 and p225 a1. Yes, they are single stacks but are all metal and very handsome. Also, the grips on these two guns are only matched by 1911's, imo. Short reset triggers. SA/DA... I could go on.

In regards to the p99as, the "clone" that you were referencing isn't made anymore either. I own the new version of it and it works exactly like the p99 now. I carry it everyday for that reason. 18+1 capacity and the ability to decock it and have a d/a first trigger pull... I know you have a "dislike" of Turkish guns, but the model I have is the TP9- DA....

I have a clone of the P99AS - it's a SW99, which is a hybrid with a Walther branded lower and S&W branded slide. It has the anti-stress trigger with decocker. Another very similar type of handgun (striker fired DASA with decocker) that I like better and often carry and is still manufactured is the Canik TP9DA.
