@@houndofculann1793 Not the first commenter, but I can give you a few reasons: · Constant references or remakes (FRLG and the Let's Go games) · Caring more about the first 151 than Pokemon of other generations (The Gen 1 starters got Megas and the Gen 6 didn't, despite X and Y being their game, Charizard being the main of the new champion, most of the megas are Gen 1, etc.) · Most new gimmicks involve Gen 1 being heavily pandered to (Mega Evolutions, Alolan Forms, Z Moves for certain Gen 1 Pokemon) That's most of what I think of. Yes, I enjoyed Gen 1, but most of us are so damn tired of it being talked about or referenced to or pandered to, focus on other generations already. Gen 5 and 4 personally deserve some love in my eyes. I mean, when was the last time we even cared about Gen 5 since B2W2?
@houndofculann17935 жыл бұрын
@@wolfox7776 I can agree with those. I was just worried you'd add Kanto as playable in Gen2 to that list as well when that was just the lucky result of them having enough space on the cartridge after first putting just Johto in there. I don't care too much for Z-moves in general, but the Megas were a pretty nice idea of adding new flavor to old pokemon we'd gotten used or even bored of. They just should have made more of them for all gens, and added a couple for the totally new pokemon as well. Sadly, trying to invent new mechanics every time and overriding the old ones with them has taken over actual innovation in the battles.

So, with Overwatch, I think that Brigitte was the final nail in the coffin. Before she was added, everything seemed to still be going fairly strong, but then Overwatch tried to build a lot of anticipation up for her release, only for people to be now stuck with a character who is very boring to play as, and extremely agitating to play against. But even before that, the very grueling reworks for Mercy and Junkrat made the game much less fun for almost everyone involved.
@Underworlder55 жыл бұрын
what bothered me was the roadhog rework. in a strange way, his kill potential was what made him an effective tank, but the fans were too narrow minded to see it (besides, tanks are defined by their ability to claim territory and disrupt the enemy team, not just protecting their allies). idiots would rather complain than adapt, and blizzard caters to them. that alongside the stagnant storytelling was the final nail in the coffin for me. overwatch would be better off as a TV series

Well, with GTA IV, the thing is that fans of it (from what I've seen) don't even really care about the plot. The appeal of IV is how absurdly robust its overall simulation of an NYC-style city is. It's all about the sandboxing. Sandboxing in an environment which is realistic enough to start feeling oddly real. Like the insane use of Euphoria animations, so that every time you shot a dude or pushed him down stairs, the animation was unique. Or how its car damage model still holds up, ten years later. Even if the game does well, all anyone will remember it for is the controversy. Heck, the controversy could ruin the game beyond repair, so no matter how fun or interesting it could be otherwise, the game will forever be remembered for the controsevery around it. Oh, and I'm not buying Sword or Shield, until AT LEAST the first month or two go by. The first month or two are THE most important to a new game. If they are going to half ass the game, then we should half-ass their sale numbers, and teach them a lesson.

Top Five/Ten Games Overshadowed by Controversy sounds like a good topic actually. There's many examples so maybe some of the more serve ones. MvC: Infinite due to legal issues that led to cutting of X-Men Characters and Fantastic 4 characters, initial ugly models and the "fighters as functions" interview Either MGSV: Phantom Pain or MG Survive due to the fallout between Kojima and Konami Mighty No. 9 due to internal problems, funding mismanagement and an awful advertisement (the infamous "anime on prom night") Paper Mario Sticker Star due to Executive Meddling Stars War's Battlefront II due to loot boxes, microtransactions and the damage control EA tried to pull off.

Yeah, I totally 100% agree and support not buying Sword and Shield for at least the first month or two/buying it second-hand. Top 5 (minor) characters who become more important in later games For instance: - Stuart Zurgo of Ratchet & Clank 2 was a fanboy who made one appearance to trade you an item for an action figure. In Ratchet & Clank 11 (I think, this is counting Secret Agent Clank and Size Matters as individual releases) he becomes the main enemy due to becoming disillusioned with his role model, Captain Qwark. - Fawful from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, begins as the main villain’s personal assistant, becomes a minor character who sells stuff in Partners in Time, and then proceeds to successfully take over the entire mushroom kingdom, liberate the dark star, and nearly kill the Bros and Bowser multiple times in Bowser’s Inside Story. Just a couple examples.

I personally think FNAF gets too much hate and Scott doesn't get nearly as much credit as he deserves. Yes, I think the series is a bit overrated and has a ton of flaws, but I don't think it's the shit stain that people make it out to be. I think the series has improved after the failure of FNAF World, even Scott has made it clear that since then, he takes more time into developing and polishing his games rather than releasing a new one every few months. The newer games have more variety, feel much more polished, even adding a dark sense of humor and Scott is more creatively strict with the movie and other games not exclusively made by himself to make sure they turn out well, especially after Scott turned down Warner Bros. for Blumhouse to make the movie because they had terrible ideas for it without giving Scott creative freedom like making the movie about evil plushies that try to take over Manhattan (it's being rumored/joked that Warner Bros. took some of the original ideas and are using it for the Banana Splits horror movie). While it's fine if you don't like the series, it feels like that brief bit about FNAF (I even feel the same way about a similar thing that Pyrocynical said in his Cuphead video), was very dismissive and disingenuous because of your own personal feelings about the series and appealing to certain communities to make the series and Scott seem more like hacks than they actually are. But what do I know!? I'm a fan of the series already! Obviously I went into the games _wanting_ to like them so my opinions aren't ReEaAlL!

Well, most of this seemed well researched, but somehow it feels like you don't really have a solid grasp on the current situation with Overwatch. The dev team learned quick and fast after Brigitte, and they haven't really released another 'hard counter' hero after her. Yes, they're still trying to rebalance her, and it's a gradual process, but she no longer dominates the meta as she used to. On another note, Overwatch 2 has been solidly confirmed to just be a working title, and there are no plans at Blizzard to make a direct sequel, but simply another game in the universe. Essentially a similar relationship as World of Warcraft to Warcraft 3. OWL viewership is actually up over the previous season, as is their concurrent player base, over the last year. What's more, recent additions like the Workshop and replays have brought a surge of renewed excitement for the game, as have strong hints at dramatic changes coming before the end of the year (many have their sights set on role lock, and while I think it's likely, it's not really my personal preference, but it'll change things up, if nothing else). And finally, people talk about how toxic the players are, but honestly I've yet to actually see evidence of it. Every online game has some degree of toxicity, but with Overwatch it seems pretty mild compared with other games I've played, including TF2, League of Legends, and Eve Online. In short, it seems apparent that you're not as informed as you seem to think you are, to be making sweeping statements about how the game as a whole is perceived by its current fans.

Gen 1 also was the most non-linear game in the series. Had the least handholding, and offered the player the most autonomy. So no, it did much more than one thing right. Gen 1 and 2 were the only generations led by the creator of pokemon. Tajiri moved onto executive roles after that.
@cartooncritic70455 жыл бұрын
Non-linearity wasn't doing either of those games any favors. Challenging any of the gyms out of order didn't change their levels and if anything felt more like deterrents to keep players from sequence-breaking them. Gen 2 had it especially bad where even if you did everything in order, the difficulty curve was STILL fucked over because all of the trainers and wild battles were 15 to 20 levels lower than the bosses and Gym trainers.
@iKhanKing5 жыл бұрын
A perfect difficulty curve isn't always a good thing. Games like Xenoblade Chronicles and Breath of the Wild thrive off of their awkward difficulty curves. In RPGs, I'm okay with skewed difficulty curves, because they offer up a challenge. In Tales of Symphonia, I'll sequence break, and then look at the tough fights as something to overcome, then the easy downhill is the reward following.
@cartooncritic70455 жыл бұрын
@@iKhanKing I disagree about both of those games "thriving" off awkward difficulty curves. In fact, Xenoblade is the perfect example of what I' talking about: big hulking monsters sixty levels above your own in the overworld to keep the player from venturing too far off the intended path are effectively the same idea of not having the later Gym leaders scale their levels to your own. You don't go that way until you're strong enough to take them normally. It's called character progression. Besides, linearity itself is not a bad thing, just as non-linearity in itself isn't always a good thing; it's the execution that makes or breaks both of these. I've always maintained that Pokemon has never felt too linear to the point of being on rails like...some other JRPGs tend to be. (I'm looking directly at you, Final Fantasy XIII)
