I've ran a front brake on almost every dj I've had, if I ever was coming into corner hot it didnt matter cause if I needed to slow down I wouldnt skid out as a front brake makes slowing down fast and cutting in hard very easy and smooth. You arent faster in general, but you can come into a curve faster as u can slow down in a shorter distance just like a car!

Okay, so I am a little late to the D.J. party. I am 52 now and will be 53 in May. I recently bought a YT Industries Core 2 Dirtlove, with the intentions of riding wheelies and a lot of bunny hopping curbs. Then a couple of weeks ago I discovered the Intense DJ, and I can add some gears to it. So I am thinking about buying it and turning it into something along the lines of a DJ style Fast Ripper. Basically for riding around town on the asphalt jungle. I will use the Intense DJ mainly for tearing around town, and the Core 2 for everything else. Here in Idaho Falls we just got a dedicated mountain bike park, and a dirt jump park. So I will be learning some new skills this year, hence me finding this video! Thanks for sharing this with us!!! 😎

I feel like this is misleading. You can ride DJ's and pump tracks on any bike, but DJ bikes are, more specifically, small, and in a world of ever-increasing bike size, small bikes are paramount in learning how to handle and control two wheels for maximum confidence. My own DJ is rigid and ancient, but the principal is that having fewer things to compensate for bad control, lines, and reaction times, really help you 'sharpen your ax'. With people riding bikes like Poles and and 29'ers and 29'er Poles, the art of staying upright through gnarly shit is getting shifted from personal skill to how well you tune your bike. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
@SStarwind4 жыл бұрын
IMO, the top five reasons to own a Dirt Jumper are 1) learning how to shift your weight to overcome obstacles and jumps, 2) learning how to react with more precision when your bike is less forgiving, 3) learning how to control your legs (this is a big one), 4) Learning how to ride with minimal brakes (leaning further, sliding, comittment, etc), 5) building overall confidence for when you get back onto your over-plushed big rig. Also 6) they're just fucking FUN to ride.

It's actually my first nice bike in general.. always owned bad bikes. But my back man.. After nose-diving a roll-able double... it just ruined my back.. When I get that Capra, I'm NEVER riding a DJ again! And no my back isn't permanently hurting, I probably only sprained it, it was 4 days ago I don't know..
