@@williamprice161 No, they're UHF. The VHF is just a backup to the system. They also have some encrypted 800 trunked talkgroups on the NYCICN trunked system.

All those expensive ladder trucks and no waterway. So let’s block the street with a useless ladder and then have to move it to bring in a platform that can flow water. Totally waste of tools and personnel.

If I remember correctly, the policy is, Engine gets the hydrant. Truck gets the fire building.

Loads of firefighters just walking around with ceiling hooks, not doing anything, several tower ladders again not being used to put water on the fire and no sign of water being put on the fire, it's not a bit wonder the fires in New York get bigger when the fire department attend. Here in the Uk we turn up and within 30 seconds we're putting water on the fire, initially from the tank on the fire appliance while the driver connects into a nearby hydrant. Think the FDNY are very lax and not at all disciplined, lots of people wandering around not really doing much with nobody really knowing who's doing what? Definitely think they should look at the Uk approach to fire fighting , FDNY are outdated. And is it really necessary to send so many resources initially to an incident???

Where was the water in the Grenfell fire?

Good evening . May i respectfully point out that the Grenfell fire was not the same type as this one. Grenfell building was fitted at some point with an external cladding which turned out to be highly inflammable so spread very quickly all over the outside of the building so had to be extinguished from outside. First uk appliance had water on building in 30 seconds. Watch and learn , uk at its best.

The UK firefighters and the equipment they use could not handle the type of fires the FDNY deal with. The FDNY is very well coordinated. And I seen plenty of water being put on the fire.

@@mfcjr1 Good evening. My goodness! what an utterly stupid and uneducated comment to make. Of course NYFD has vastly different types of fire to deal with. Large high rise buildings, large apartment buildings ,very high scrapers urban houses made of vastly inferior construction materials ie wood etc but they are very well equipped to deal with these incidents as they have large enormous and very long semi fire trucks, extremely high ladders with very large wide roads to get to these fires. But when they get there more times than not no water. UK are well equipped with the right equipment for the fires they have to deal with and each appliance can put water on a fire within 30 seconds of arrival. Even with all your trillions of dollars UK is vastly superior .
