Looking totally gorgeous in the pink top! I've been having this 'collecting' problem with my tinted sunscreen, it looks so unnatural around my mouth, so I might have to get a sponge. Also I rarely wear foundation on my nose, it never looks natural, so Caroline is absolutely right.

Hello Ruth, I really appreciated this post. I like you prefer more lighter natural skin looking face. My usual is something very light, but there are those days especially when I'm going to a family function or I know there will be pictures taken that I do want to use a full coverage Foundation. Thank you for having a posting about it. I really loved the tips! Now I will wipe off the nose and used to brushes. Excellent I never would have thought of these.

I rarely wear full coverage, but if I do it always rubs off at my nose first and that annoys me. Good to hear that it actually helps with looking less done up.

Some of the MUA / gurus on YT recommend using a MAC Paint Pot in a skin colour, like Ochre or some of those related colours as a primer on the nose first. I have those Paint Pots but they're in my bathroom and can't be bothered going and finding them to reference them here! haha! I haven't even tried this method as my foundation doesn't seem to rub off my nose. IHTH 😁

Oh, I wil try that. I have one in my bathroom anyway.

Linda I'm pretty sure Nikki Tutorials did a video on this earlier this year re: using a Paint Pot as a primer. Wish these things had been around when I was younger and suffered from oilier skin. My skin is quite dry now so I don't seem have to have the foundation rubbing off my nose thing 😊

I sometimes add a teeny drop of jajoba oil to mine and mix it in, ot sheers it out a little and makes it look less mask like on my "matureish: skin". I should add that I learnt this from Wayne Goss just to give credit where it is due.

Helen P i always mix my full coverage foundation with 2 drops of facial oil. Makes it looks like real skin, and doesnt affect its coverage

Helen P I do that all the time, with either a moisturizer or oil because otherwise the foundation looks quite heavy on my dry skin

I think Caroline Barnes is wonderful, I live by all her tips/vids but= here she says take off make-up on the nose to make it look more natural, unfortunately I can't because I have a red scar right over the bridge of my nose which is as bad as the rosacea on my cheeks...it is a huge problem for me. I get what you are saying Ruth = about the "clumping" round the mouth when doing full coverage. I try to use a minimal amount /whats left on my brush .....Thank you for the vid, very helpful.

Any advise on what to use under the eyes? Looking for a good concealer to conceal all the colour under your eyes and in the corner of your eyes, dark circles. I find it really hard to completely cover the tiredness and colour around your eyes.

Can you explain how to stop foundation breaking up? I have dry-ish skin and I prep my skin with a good moisturiser before putting anything else on my face. When I buff foundation in I sometimes find that the pigment appears to break apart and go patchy? Am I blending to much or not using enough? Funnily enough the healthy mix and healthy mix serum foundation seems to be one of the worst offenders for this on me. Help!

@madihamumtaz33897 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Tonovic Yes!! I feel you!! What i do is just put foundation where needed and let other parts of your skin show through. It works for me and looks natural. Everyone is different what works for one might not work for another.

Ah, the sorrow of translucent skin! My nose turns red if I have a cup of tea, half a unit of alcohol, experience any change of temperature or emotion, take a nap, etc. It hates me, I know it does! It is always trying to show me up! ;)

Try skin lightening serum something with vitamin c and correct your skin tone first then spend on the make up

what if your face is very red and darker than the rest of your body and you need to go with a paler foundation? it is always easy to say match your skin but not everyone can do that, what then?:(
@theukyankee7 жыл бұрын
I have rosacea. I don't worry too much about matching entirely between my neck and face but find something that works with my face but perhaps a slightly lighter shade. And I might blend it down my neck a bit as well.
@ChocolateTeapot937 жыл бұрын
I don't understand this notion of just putting foundation in certain places. My face is all different colours. If I just put foundation in some places and not others you'd see it. Maybe I could put something lighter on some places and just use full coverage where I need it but that seems like a hassle. I can't just rub foundation off because the skin underneath would be a different colour and when you wipe away a foundation it bunches up at the edges of where you've wiped it. Honestly, I'm half way through and I'm giving up on this video because none of this makes any sense or fits with what I know about foundation. This advice seems to be for people who already have perfect skin.
@YourMoonJoy7 жыл бұрын
Jodie653 many makeup artist have done it for years, yes I it does require that your skin be good. It helps to look flawless without looking cakey or too made up. I've been doing this for 6yrs and I match to one or two colours, mix them and concentrate on the center to even out. Shocking enough unless you have horribly bad skin this works on most people.
@abigailgantt57217 жыл бұрын
If you match yourself to a foundation that is close enough to your exact skintone, then you should be able to get away with only putting it in areas where you have spots, redness or discoloration.
@FemmePistolera7 жыл бұрын
Jodie653 watch Lisa Eldridge's foundation series on how to get a good foundation color match and get away with minimal amount of base products possible :)) I know what you mean (because my skin is like the same way too), but it's an easily manageable problem
@ChocolateTeapot937 жыл бұрын
I don't know why people keep replying telling me to get a foundation that matches. I said my face is all different colours. I'd have to put foundation on most of my face and in that case I might as well put it all over. I clicked on this video looking for tips on full coverage foundation, not to be told that I shouldn't put foundation all over my face by two people who look perfect.
@FemmePistolera7 жыл бұрын
If you haven't watched the series I recommended already, Lisa explains to find a shade that merges the different color and undertone characteristics of those different places. Or better yet, match your foundation color most closely to your dominant facial coloring and use the product in places that are more different in color or tone to uniformize the skin. That way, you can leave your more preferred areas on your face bare. I hope at least this gives you an idea of what you can do to address your issues.
@Ty-ih9cu7 жыл бұрын
I love your channel I just feel like this advice is not the best :/ Particularly rubbing product off the nose and upper lip. Even if the product is a good match it'll look odd to have this perfect uniform skin tone and then blank spots of areas that aren't as perfected.
@scarlett_817 жыл бұрын
If u take the foundation off the nose it won't match the rest of the skin
@lorrainecampbell3747 жыл бұрын
I guess what caroline is saying, is that the foundation should match your skin colour - maybe she can clarify further
@RuthCrilly7 жыл бұрын
Yeah it should be the same tone as your skin anyway, so taking it off gently shouldn't really be noticeable. If it is, then your colour match is maybe a bit off! x
