That lip trick is a game changer, I apply my lip hydration sandwich, water, HA serum, Cerave and then Vaseline, then do my hair and get dressed. Then as I head out I remove and apply my lipstick and lipliner and my lips stay moist for hours under lipstick. Your makeup is very subtle and flattering. That lip color and blush were made for you!

What a gorgeous look and a fun video. I love that you featured 2 of my favorite brands: Persona and Ciele! The Ciele skin tint (which is really more like a foundation) is my go-to base product now. It is stunning. And I now own multiple shades of the Persona and Ciele blushes because they are just perfection.

Agreed! My mom's skin has become so sensitive that she can't wear any makeup at all. She can't even stand when her hair touches her face! The multiple dermatologists she has seen have not helped her at all. She's 80 and when she sees herself in photos she says how "scary" she looks (she doesn't!). I think if she could wear just a little makeup she might feel better about herself.

Hi Dr. Sam. The BK Beauty brushes are the best, in my opinion. The 101 is my favorite foundation brush. The primer you used looks amazing. Your skin is absolutely incredible. Dr. Ellis, when you get the chance can you please also make a video on *makeup for sensitive skin?* I need some makeup that doesn’t have any drying or irritating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, fragrance, drying alcohols, etc. I want to wear makeup, but I have sensitive skin, and it can be difficult to find makeup with clean ingredients that won’t irritate my skin. Even common ingredients like hyaluronic acid, which is supposed to hydrate the skin, have irritated and dried out my skin really badly. Also, I’ve tried cream blushes before, but the one I tried would cause me to break out on the areas where I applied it. Maybe the blush you recommend might be better though. Lastly, I have light features like you do, so I’m looking for brands that offer eye pencils & mascara in shades of brown.

Alima Pure has a nice mineral foundation with only 5 ingredients. They're having a Black Friday deal, but if you just want to try out a little, they also have tinier sample sizes. I'm acne prone so I use a pore clogging ingredient checker for everything I put on my face. Lots of blushes contain comedogenic ingredients. I know Alima Pure, Rare Beauty and Wet n Wild powder blush in Naked Brown are all free of comedogenic ingredients. Hope that helps ❤️

I would not prioritize makeup as “skincare.” It can be a nice complement to your routine but your skincare routine is absolutely doing the heavy lifting. But, for example, the iron oxides in foundations can protect against blue light, which is a trigger for some forms of hyperpigmentation.

It cosmetics changed the formulas 😭 I was using their cc creams for 12 years an started using all their powders and blushes etc. Then last year I realized something is just off, I couldn’t figure it out. Then I found out from the makeup artist they changed to a cheaper chemical mineral spf and that is what seems to be an issue for some of us with oily combo type skin. It now settled into my pores and creases, and gets on my clothing so easily, never ever before did this happen. I can’t even believe it honestly it was amazing I don’t understand why they changed it and really I can’t understand why all the influencers don’t help get this fixed, because in all honesty I can’t find anything like it 😖 so many others I spoke to on a facebook post are experiencing the same, an tons of makeup artists no longer using it. Its fine for many people but the chunk of us that have combo oily skin it’s no where near whet that OG formula was 😭 but if they don’t see enough people talking about it, they won’t go back and fix this. It’s all about supply and demand which truly stinks I can’t find anything like it.

Hoping to reorder a few with a BF special, but big kudos to you for keeping the prices affordable. I don't feel bad ordering even at full price. Question, you once mentioned you should never combine SPF's (an error I was making with tinted and non tinted), because you said it might not play well. Do you feel the same when you apply make up with SPF over your sunscreen?? Keep on producing these amazing vids. I bought the Hourglass powder (a splurge) on your rec and love it.

7:52 Thank you for disclosing that this concealer has hyaluronic acid in it. I will personally avoid it, because anything with hyaluronic acid dries out my skin and creates fine lines. I’ve had some horrific experiences with hyaluronic acid, so I’ll avoid any skincare & makeup that contains it in the ingredients list.

I too avoid hyaluronic acid in products (dry climate, dry skin). However, I find that the Tower 28 is hydrating and isn’t drying. It’s one of the few concealers I like using.
