Wouldn't say the Voyager if he knew how badly it performs in a collision.

LOL on Clarkson chosing the Voyager. Good Riddance Mr. Clarkson, stick your analysis to flamboyant two seaters, you obviously know nothing about other kinds of cars :D

As proof our Espace has driven 300,000km (over 200,000miles) and nothing is wrong with it. The only parts we've replaced have been the front wheel bearings and three lamps in the dashboard, but everything else including the engine have been rock solid. Sure it isn't as reliable as a Japanese car, but it's far from being unreliable ;)

The Grand Espace is better because you can carry 7 people and still have room for things, the space behind the third row is bigger than the standard Espace, and legroom in third row is better and can even take adults.

@mariocp don't you talk smack about the car that saved chrysler in the 80s and invented a new type of American Family car, the minivan

What a deliberately obtuse review. He has a point about the rear crumple zone (which was corrected by the Grand Espace version), but everything else is just silliness. He could have folded the seats to fit the dresser. He could have acknowledged that many families could afford an MPV for a second car.

@TurboBoy996 Yeah, & sneeze next to a Renault & you will be calling for a tow truck. Voyagers & Dodge Caravans are durable & long lasting. The last Renaults they sold in the US were piles of junk.

Just give me an SMax, handles like a well sorted hatch but can be a van or People carrier too. I have 2 and one of them has just hit 200000 miles, original engine, turbo, clutch DMF, injectors, gearbox. yes it was serviced every 12500 miles

so the Renault Espace is to you Euro Folk what the Plymouth Voyager/ Dodge Caravan was to us North Americans, the car that started the Minivan(MPV) craze?
@mariocp12 жыл бұрын
@kernals12 nothing against Chrysler and if that car really saved the company I say well done. But I knew both cars compared in this video and the way I see it the Renault is clearly superior. Anyway, no pojnt in arguing about 15 year old cars, both companies have moved on, so should we all.

@Crononauts Two corrections, 300 000km is 186 000 miles and a master hydraulic cylinder in the gearbox was replaced. It has now done 334 000km. It is a diesel, the 2.2DTi (G8T with 113hp), after that comment the remote controlled central locking stopped working (central locking with the button inside still works). There was a panel in the door (I think) that stopped the electric windows and mirrors from working, but it was a simple fix. The engine doesn't drink oil and uses 7-8l/100km diesel.

It is sadly different on all cars. The G8T engine in the Espace was known for being reliable, but the G9T engine that replaced it wasn't. Peugeots and Citroens from the mid 00's had quite a lot of problems. The HDi engines would build up soot, had bad turbos and were very picky about oil. I had to top up oil on a 2012 Peugeot Partner 1.6HDi with just 10 000km. I also read about the C4 and it had a bizarre problem where a valve for the automatic climate control would get stuck and blow hot air.

4 out of 4 stars, EuroNCAP 1999, better than 6 competitors (on par with Toyota Picnic). Chrysler Voyager is the worst of all (2 stars) with horrible zero protection in front collision.
